I really didn't care whether Prue showed up or not. I wanted to see Leo again and I liked seeing all the family members in the last episode.
The picture thing is sort of an excuse because he could've used a picture of the little girl they used to play Prue during season 3 and I'm sure she isn't nearly as expenssive as Shannen.

God, how I miss Prue! She was a pain in the butt at times, but SD possessed a presence that the other three actresses - despite their talent - lacked.

They blew most of the budget on a totally, utterly, rotten episodes that could've been dealt with in the first few episodes. Allowing for a much better family get together and a much better big bad, I agree pics of when she was younger could've been shown or even them looking at a pic we didnt see.

I know this would be out of the question, but what if they had HMC and AM not in an episode? For example, what if there was a Paige and Prue specific episode? One where it's just the two of them doing something somewhere?
If HMC/AM sacrificed their salary for one episode (not freaking likely), then they surely would have had enough money for a Prue/Paige episode.
Personally, it would have been nice. Prue seemed to haunt Paige for the longest time and she really felt inadequate compared to her. Why not literally make this happen?

It wouldn't be unheard of. Rumor has it that Holly offered to take a pay cut to keep Brian around during season 8. I'm sure she would have been willing to cooperate to bring Shannen back, as long as she wanted to come back.

I'm sure Holly Marie Combs would be okay with it. She'd see it from a fans point of view and from her own personal point of view. However, I'd be too afraid of AM's reaction. We don't know the truth of the behind-the-scenes antics and if she were really against an SD guest-spot then she'd do all she could to stop it.
What if the rumours of their feud was true? What if Alyssa really didn't want Shannen to be on the show? She could threaten Kern to never have Shannen on the show again (even as a guest). LOOK AT ME! I'm like a tabloid!

okay I am going to probably butt into something here that maybe I shouldn't but reading these last few pages about SD has made me realize that everyone has her departure wrong but maybe a couple of people. SD wanted to become a more serious actor and do different things with her life. Hasn't anyone seen any of the HMC and AM interviews? They all did at one point. Killing Prue of the show and never having her reappear at all is because they would have to pay her money. SD owns the right to the character Prue. I myself had wondered several times about why she left but through my own research and findings have come to understand that there was not a riff between SD and AM. They are friends. However, SD was ready to move on and HMC and AM weren't. Who wouldn't want a steady job? However, the thing that inflicted with SD the most was that some of the movie offers and stuff she had received while working on Charmed she wasn't able to do because they interfered with Charmed. I miss SD on Charmed and the certain quality that Charmed had on it when SD was on Charmed isn't there now. However, I love how things happened. I do agree with alot of people and say that they should have brought Prue back. However, anyone remember when they mentioned her name back in Season 6 or 7? So Prue has been in the episodes even if we don't see her or any pictures of her. I hope that this answers alot of the unasked questions on this forum.
I like all Charmed characters and I grew up watching SD and AM. So I couldn't choose who is my favorite but I was glad to find out that they are friends.

The upcomming movies with Shannen.
Christmas Caper (Christmas 2007)
Synops: A Grinch-like thief (Doherty) retreats to her hometown in Connecticut after a con goes bad and gets stuck baby-sitting her niece and nephew until their parents can make it home for Christmas. She spends most of her time devising ways to even the score with Clive, her partner in crime, until the spirit of the holidays can help put her priorities back on track. ---------------------------- Kiss me Deadly (2008) Shannen goes "Jason Bourne" in this one, where she stars as Marta.
Synops: Ex-spy Jacob Keane is drawn back into the shadowy world of international espionage when his former partner Marta reappears after 17 years, her memory erased, on the run from a pair of deadly, psychopathic assassins. ---------------------------- Rumoured: Slapped (2007-08)
There is realy no info about this movie, rumour just has it that Shannen also stars in this movie.

I love the way she played Prue! I liked Rose but it was not the same after Shannen left, for me it felt like a part of the story was missing.

It does make you wonder how Charmed would have continued to grow if there had not been these problems and Shannen had stayed all the way to the end. Who knows, could there had been a 9th and 10th season ? Those answers are only in the stars.

You're right Hansemand! I sometimes wonder how things would've turned out if Prue wouldn't hve died, but sometimes I think that maybe it happened so the show could last longer. How many seasons could've done if Prue would've stayed? How many stories could they make that didn't take past episodes?

There's a thread about this in VIP. Most people agree that Shannen probably wouldn't have stayed for a full 8 years; that she would've wanted to move on to something else. But had Connie remained executive producer (and I'll always be certain that Kern had as much to do with Shannen leaving as Alyssa, since if it was just Alyssa who had a problem, Kern could've fired her in a lot more humane way, keeping the door open for Shannen to return to Charmed if Alyssa ever wanted to leave) and Shannen remained, I do believe the show would've been a lot higher quality, even if it hadn't lasted as long.
If indeed the problem was Alyssa and Shannen, I would've prefered Alyssa fired--Holly and Shannen had such chemistry and so did Shannen and Julian (they were dating at the time). It would've been fun watching what happens between Prue and Cole once Phoebe is killed! And Paige would've felt even more on the outside due to the closeness of Prue and Piper. The dynamics would've been SOOO much more dramatic and you wouldn't need Ultimate Evil after Ultimate Evil after Ultimate Evil to keep the show dramatic; you could've continued to used sister dynamics, which is what made the first four seasons so good.

You're right, Es. I'd have prefered Shannen, with Phoebe and Paige it was like 2 kids together, as I can tell Paige acted a lot like Phoebe when she found out she was a witch. I have nothing against Alyssa, I am a huge fan of her. But sometimes I wonder, why couldn't she leave the past behind and make peace qith Shannen? That would've been so much better, imagine if Prue would've come back!

It would have been brilliant if Shannen could come back! I loved they way she was so strong. I mean Piper did a good job after she died but the way Shannen acted as the big sister was unbeatable.
