So we all know (whether it was what you wanted or not) that eventually Piper, Phoebe and Paige's children would take over from The Charmed Ones. I'm midway through a rewatch and currently on Season Five, and I forget just how old the show is now and how the actresses are all in their mid-forties. It strikes me as a little odd to see pictures of them looking older, and made me wonder if it would've looked silly to have the actresses diving around at the ages they are now.
It then made me wonder about Charmed in-universe. We saw on the show witches like Grams still being a formidable witch in presumably her sixties/seventies, even right up to her death. Obviously, Patty died in her twenties so never 'retired' - but at what age do you think a witch stops actively fighting demons? If the Charmed Ones were still as powerful as ever in their sixties/seventies/eighties - would demons still be after them? Or would Wyatt, Chris, Melinda etc. act as their wiccan bodyguards?
Imagine if the sisters didn't have magical children to protect them, what would happen then? And also, what do you think happens to a witches powers in old age? Would they become weaker, or remain the same? Found this to be quite an interesting thought.
What do you guys reckon?

I dont know when they would retire i guess never but in their sixties or whatever i think they could take care of themselves their powers grow so they could take on any demon no matter how old

I assume they'd keep themselves fit enough to still fight demons into their fifties and sixties, as I guess they'd be looking for the kids to take over by the time they finished school/college. Seeing as Piper had Wyatt at around 30, he could take over by the time Piper is around 55, which isn't really that old these days anyway. However, I don't think they could ever really retire, as demons wouldn't stop trying to kill the Charmed Ones because they're old. If anything, they'd try more because they'd be easier to fight. I mean, Phoebe couldn't do her martial arts and levitating into her 60s. I guess Piper would be the one doing most of the grunt work as usual (blowing demons up).
I think it's safe to assume that Penny would've retired, or at least taken a step back, from demon-hunting had Patty been alive.

This is why I think that Piper's three twice-blessed kids or Phoebe's three Charmed daughters would take over the Manor while Piper would FINALLY get to move to a condo and not have to worry about all of the demons that are attracted by the spiritual and wiccan nexus (which isn't gone - it can't be gone, since it's a location not a physical thing - only the Shadow that lived under the basement was destroyed in "Something Wicca This Way Goes?" not the nexus). She might finally get her semi-normal life that way... She and the others would deserve to retire at 65 after all they've gone through. My guess is that they would give up their powers and that would put them back under the cloak that they were before they got their powers. That - giving up her powers - is something Penny never did, but I can see the Charmed Ones doing it. Well, except maybe Paige. I can see her keeping her powers and continuing to help young witches and future whitelighters come into their powers, but not Piper and Phoebe.

I think the charmed ones would retire when they physically felt like they couldn't do their jobs anymore or when either there was no more evil around hyperthetically speaking although they may probably never happen don't know or when the next generation grew up to the point where they could take over etc.

They would never officially retire from magic, they'd always have their powers, but as mentioned in season 8, they'd already defeated the current generation of evil, so they'd probably get a good rest until their early fifties.

When the kids are old enough to do the fighting. By the time Wyatt is 18, Piper will be nearing 50, so that sounds about right. Not saying they'd never fight again, but the bulk of it will be the kids when they're old enough. In Grams case, if a demon came to the house, she'd vanquish them, but we didn't see her going out demon hunting. Whereas Patty actually went out to go after the Water Demon. I imagine the sisters would be similar to that when older.

As soon as the kids are ready to take over, I guess. . Either when school is out or college is over. We, unfortunately, don't know when this might be. Unless they offer us something - like a reunion movie.
