Hey everybody! It's been such a long time since I've been on the boards - it's always nice to see continued discussion on the series I love so much. Anyways, I just went back to school & I'm currently writing a paper for one of classes dealing with the uprising of home media in our digital age. I thought I would check in here on the boards to see if any of you might have any info regarding the "Charmed" DVD's & their sales figures. I'm not sure if there is any specific website or company that keeps track of these things, but I thought I would chance it see if any of you had any info or knowledge on this. Specifically, my current topic in my essay right now (it's a general media course) is how a TV series can have just as much success after it's done as it did when it was on the air, due to media downloads, Netflix, other on-demand viewing platforms such as Amazon or Yahoo & DVD's/Blu-Ray's ...and I definitely think "Charmed" fits the bill. I know a lot of people/fans mention how well the "Firefly" DVD's & Blu-Ray's sell...and I figure there must be some way of learning info on how well the "Charmed" DVD's are doing. I know that in 2005-2006 Paramount/CBS Home Entertainment released each season individually, then packaged the complete series in a regular & limited deluxe Book of Shadows format in 2008 (which is now out of print - especially the limited deluxe version which is very difficult to find today), and a recently released bargain version of the complete series. Any info you guys might be able to provide is much appreciated!

I'm not sure about the DVD sales figures(If Wiki has it, then you can scroll down and see the references from where Wiki got it)
I also think the Charmed conventions(recently one took place in Paris) Holly and Shannen's new show, Facebook, Tumblr and Twitter not to mention the current running Charmed comics are also contributing in keeping the show alive.

Well I don't know exact figures, but before it's release, Charmed was TVShowsOnDvd's most demanded series for a DVD release, so I imagine it would have sold rather well initially. I think I read somewhere that Charmed outsold Angel on DVD...which pissed off many a Whedonite.
These days however, Charmed is more popular on Netflix. Which on the one hand means a lot more people are watching it, but on the other hand, the DVD sales probably won't be at their best. (Not that that's really unique to Charmed)

I remember someone saying that Charmed was the most viewed show on Netflix ever, and it really is a staple of Netflix at this point. Charmed and Buffy have both remained on Netflix since it started, which not many other shows can say. They removed Desperate Housewives, RuPauls Drag race, and many others have been removed.
I think that a stronger argument would be for Buffy, especially in a university/college setting. Buffy has spawned a HUGE amount of academic study (Buffy St, and many schools offer classes on "Buffy Studies" and just about ever culture/gender studies class I have ever taken has utilized Buffy as a point of study.
