Eight seasons is a very good run for any show, true. There have been shows with significantly longer runs. Seventh Heaven was mentioned, but there was MASH and, still going today, Law and Order (the original). I don't know how many shows made it to 8 seasons, but far more did not.
Whether you liked the last two or even five seasons or not, it was all good fun and there were always some interesting things going on in any season. Typically, I think, it was almost always the side stories, whether they ran for just the one episode or several, that I found more interesting than the vanquish or demon at hand. The two exceptions to this for me were Cole and Zankou. The side stories, which were more about their personnel lives than their Charmed lives, were what added spice to each episode and typically held the "lesson" or moral of the story. Just my opinion.

Hi... I have just found out that Charmed ended after Season 8... I have bought the DVDs for each season (I did not what the Series on WB). A friend of mine has just told me the Series ended without and end! Is it true? Can anyone tell me what happened? Thanks & Regards from sunny Rio de Janeiro! The "Real" Charmed Series ? Shax Killed Prue and Piper and the Doctor, the Demon Onslaught killed Phoebe, Leo, and Cole and the last scene was Shax blowing out the door....."All fades to black" like the Oriental Movies popular of the time. CHarmed Again where the Girls have a Missing Sisters is actually a "Spin off" as neither WB or Spelling Productions what would happen after Shannen took a hike and the "Alternative Senario" ended the "Charmed Destiney" with Piper Pregnant the Girls deciding to remain "Charmed" and "they Live happily ever after" Season 5 was yet another "Spin off" as it turns out they didn't live happily ever after and this is the first Season where "Charmed" actually joins WB's Sappy Relationship Drama shows with more "WHAH,WHAh,WHah" from Phoebe. Piper and Paige and that 1/2 drop in ratings is the majority of the guys flipping over to the "girls gone wild" infomercials cause most guys don't like Relationship Dramas unless they are same sex oriented and watch the Tony awards....lol Of course this "spin off" ended in Season 7 with the girls walking away with Identities "and they lived happilier ever after" Season 8 (OH COME ON?!!! YOUR KIDDING ME RIGHT?!!!) is a "Spin off" where the girls aren't so "happily ever after" (shocker) and despite the low ratings the only reason why WB hasn't canned the Show is the peliminary studies shows that the COmmercial Buyers will buy spots for CHarmed but not ANything else they tried to stick in Charmed's spot. Not only are the girls not technically "Charmed" anymore as that went with the Nexus, but they are not even the Major Players but the side line coach/trainer for their Contender "Billie" in the "Ultimate Battle" against her sister "Christy" backed by the Triad...battle lasts 2 seconds with Christy trying to flambe Billie and the girls and Billie instintively reflecting it back at Christy causing her to cinge instead (Ultimate Good v.s. Evil battle over) So yeah. Charmed was officially over a long time ago....if you are talking "Real" Kosher Charmed and their "Heroic Ending" If you are talking Season 8 then,no, they had a "Happily ever after" ending that they can't weasel a Movie or a Reunion show out of as they pretty much showed that with only Demons that think they are from the Matrix or Demons that think they are from Westside Story left they pretty much had time to do other things until Wyat and Chris where ready to fight ("One generation truce" pact with the last leader demon mind you)

Wasn't there a rumor about doing a movie after the show will end?

I know that every series has to end at some point or the other. But as a Charmed fan, I just could not beleive that it was all going to end with Season 8.
And as for the last episode - i cannot stop myself from crying EVERY time i see that episode. Still to be perfectly honest, Season 8 was not one of my favourite seasons on the whole...

Actually, there is a gag reel. Although not on the Region 1 release, the version released in Europe or AUS had the gag reel from S8. I'm sure it will eventually show up here in another release, but only time will tell for sure. Im pretty shure that you are mistaken, i know that the European release does not contain gagreels and every Australian onlineshop i have visited does not tell about gagreels either on the australian release, they get listed as containing the same extras as the american release. Some one must have been pulling your leg if they claimed that they contain gagreels.

Anyone out there who is in another region have a version that is different than the region 1?

I still don't understand what evidence you have for this half-baked theory of yours. If the destruction of the Nexus resulted in the destruction of Charmed magic, then how were Billie and Christy able to steal Wyatt's Charmed magic in "Kill Billie: Vol. 2"?

The only differences realy is these with the region 2's: No trailers and no easter eggs in Season 8. I still have my old region 2 releases on storage (S1 to S8) untill a friend of mine comes home from his work trip to Italy. Thats why i belive that a leg must have been pulled, since they don't contain gagreels.

Actually Wyatt is a Powerful Whitlighter-Witch in just being Male in both categories....reallly...and as a Child that always had the power he is just better at using his powers then Paige with his only equals probably being non-pacifist Elder Whitelighters with the reality altering "mind over matter" ability....no "Charmed Leinage" Bull! needed as his primary powers are Whightlighter based and they are among the "powers that be"

Honestly, as much as I love Charmed I am glad it ended with S8. New and fresh ideas were beginning to get rarer and rarer, dont get me wrong I enjoyed S8 but if the show continued into a ninth season i really thik it would have killed the series.

I agree! As happy as I was to see their faces on screen one more season, I could see that both writers and actors alike were exhausted. As far as the nexus is concerned, these three witches are the culmination of an ancient prophecy. Their power is in their blood (Astral Monkey) and in their connection as sisters (Power Outage). The nexus enhances the power of whoever comands it and was just a perk. The power of three did not depend on it.

nothing can last forever and it was also losing the old spirit of Charmed as it was on first seasons..

Well, Zankou was the best demon since Cole (and he really wasn't a demon anyhow). Your point is well-taken, but reflects the fact that the character was introduced in the bottom of the sixth with nine runs already scored. The fact that he came in and finally restored order was moot since the ball game was mostly over. So what if the WB decreed that Charmed would play an eighth inning (contrary to Little League rules)? The damage was already done. Budget cuts certainly made moot any possible return on Zankou. After all, they could have restored him. The Nexus spit out Cole as well. Besides, what is a SUXEN spell other than a spell of necessity?
I don't mind Season 6 in parts, but you've got to admit that week in, week out demon after Wyatt, Film at 11 wasn't really that creative!

Well they were already killing the series, well before S8...but it did hit rock bottom then. But I do not believe that the show should have ended then. Yes, it was really at its lowest point but if the writers or Kern popped into their senses, then I believe the show would have done much better, or at least the loyal fans would have enjoyed it more. There was so so so much more that could have been done , but Kern thought of all the wrong ideas. He should have been fired, then maybe they would've brought the right somebody in, to really get the job done. I did not like the way the show ended, and all I want is just one more season to end the series off in the most proper way.

The show is over. It ended over a year-and-a-half ago. Why moan about why it went off the air or that the WB should have kept it on the air? I think that we all should be glad that there are eight seasons to enjoy in reruns and DVD sales.

I love your vision of a refreshed S9, but I'm not sure Kern would be the only one who would need to be removed to ensure success. Honestly, Pheobe's character in S9 just seemed tired. I don't know if this was from a lack of interesting character development (bye, bye Kern) or if the actress herself was just exhausted from the rigorous taping schedule (bye, bye Pheobe- God forbid!).

I think that we all should be glad that there are eight seasons to enjoy in reruns and DVD sales. I am very very thankful that we were able to get 8 seasons. But I can still be upset that I wanted just one more season with a normal executive producer, to give us the final season that we all wanted to see and deserved, a proper closure. One with NO Billie/Christy, but one all about the Charmed Ones. But let's not get into that. Anyways, I am very happy for the amount we got, however I can still wish for more. It's not going to happen, but I can still imagine.
