I have to ask. Why do Elders love to go to the Golden Gate Bridge? It's in the mortal world and so any demon can show up there. Also, people tend to jump there on a regular basis.

I think this was more of a cheap set behind-the-scenes decision than a Charmedverse decision on The Elders' parts. The GGB was basically a red beam with a fake background (if you looked, you could see that the waves on the water didn't even move). The "Up There" set required the added expense of the fog machines and whatever else they needed to make it look all "heavenly."

Because they just wanted to copy Leo?
I liked that Leo and Chris went up there. That worked, but the rest of them..yeah...lazy, cheap b@stards. YAY

I liked that it sort of became "a spot" for Leo and then later Chris and Paige. (I loved Paige and Sam's scene on the bridge...and I think that's where we also got a cute Paige/Henry scene there too.) But having The Elders go there was silly and didn't make sense. It should've stayed "the place" for the orbing members of the Halliwell/Wyatt/Matthews family.

I always liked the reason used in my all-time favorite Charmed fanfic, Kalvana's "Future Consequences": Chris stood on top of the bridge, watching traffic rush beneath him, the lights shining through the mists. He felt the wind push through his hair and let it comfort him. “I thought you’d be here,” Leo said quietly.
“Oh, yeah?”
“Oddly like Up There, isn’t it?” Leo asked. “Looking down, seeing the real world but not quite a part of it. Oddly peaceful, even with all the noise.”
“Yes,” Chris agreed. Just like Chris, the Elders didn't want Leo to be Up There when he wasn't one of them, so they came to a place that is "oddly like Up There".

San Francisco has 2 tourist attractions: The Bridge and then 2 guys named Adam Savage & Jamie Hyneman. That is also why no one really paid attention to what The Charmed Ones did, people thought it was Adam and Jamie out there testing all sorts of myths again ;D

Named who and who? *scatches head*
Funny, I think San Francisco I think the Bridge, the cable cars, Chinatown, Fisherman's Wharf, Haight-Ashbury, the TransAmerica Tower (the big triangular one), Ghiradelli Chocolates, the hills, the bay, the Giants, the 49ers. Lots of things. Not whoever they are. And I don't live in California so that's not how I know them.

Ah, yes, those rubbish Bridge scenes.
Good think no one ever looked up and saw them there, right? Good thing no one called the cops and reported them, right?

I think those awful Bridge scenes were another side effect of the dwindling budget. With Leo being an Elder and Paige a living whitelighter, they needed to show Up There more often, but the Up There sets they had leftover from "Blinded by the Whitelighter" and "Oh, My Goddess" probably had to be torn down to make room for other sets, so they scrounged up a quick solution with the Bridge. It was nothing but a cheap green screen effect (Notice how the water below them never seemed to move?), so it took up little space and cost almost nothing.

You would assume that the risk of exposure would be permeating through their thoughts whenever a Whitelighter/Elder orbs onto the bridge in an ostentatious display of vibrant colours. Thousands upon thousands of people commute across the Golden Gate Bridge every single day. Logically, the sisters, Leo, and whoever else that's appeared up there should have been noticed by many people. The police and quite possibly the FBI would be looking into the case of the funny lightning incinerating a man alive courtesy of Leo.

Yeah, it practically screamed cheapness. If they could not afford to show "Up There" anymore, perhaps the Elders should have been written out and Paige stripped of her powers (then she would be the magical family car anymore).
The writers didn't have clue, did they. Magic was supposed to be secret, so let's have meetings in an open space where thousands can see us. Hyuk! Hyuk! Hyuk!

If only "Oh, My Goddess" had been the very last we saw of the Elders... And, if only Paige had lost her powers along with Phoebe in "Crimes and Witch Demeanors," and as punishment for killing Rick...

Yeah, no more rubbish bridge scenes. The show might have had to live within its means.
