So it's something that has been discussed over the years and I don't think any of us can imagine Charmed without our girls but if Charmed was being recreated for today's audience, who would you cast?
PRUE HALLIWELL (26 - 30) PIPER HALLIWELL (24 - 28) PHOEBE HALLIWELL (21 - 25) ANDY TRUDEAU (26 - 30) DARRYL MORRIS (26+)
Remember, you are casting actors from the present day, so they have to be able to pull off the ages above. Appearance isn't a big factor for the new producers but they do want the three sisters to have some kind of resemblance. However acting ability is of greater importance. Experience preferred but not necessary.

Oh, this is a great idea, Dan! I look forward to seeing the cast people can think up!

Very interesting post, Dan! ;D
SANDRA BULLOCK as PRUE HALLIWELL NATALIE PORTMAN as PIPER HALLIWELL ANNE HATHAWAY as PHOEBE HALLIWELL JAMES FRANCO as ANDY TRUDEAU WILL SMITH as DARRYL MORRIS
Note: Reason why I chose Sandra Bullock, even though she's 40, is because she ages well and could pull off a 26 - 30-something with the right makeup and attitude. Hope you like my choices!

It's really interesting that you went with a cinematic cast, I was actually going to suggest that as the next option. But regardless, I quite like your thinking, Natalie Portman particularly came to my mind too.
My casting would be as follows:
Rose Byrne as "Prue Halliwell" Emmy Rossum as "Piper Halliwell" Lucy Hale as "Phoebe Halliwell Misha Collins as "Andy Trudeau" Jack Coleman as "Darryl Morris"
But I also had an alternate cast of sisters:
Olivia Wilde as "Prue Halliwell" Amber Tamblyn as "Piper Halliwell" Emmy Rossum as "Phoebe Halliwell"

Would anyone throw a fit if the "recasted" Charmed Ones weren't brunettes? Say that someone picked actresses that had either red or blond hair because they felt they could pull off the role?

No, I don't think they would. I almost cast Danneel Harris as Prue. And in some ways, I reckon she'd probably fit a little better than either Rose or Olivia.
I don't think the colour of the actresses hair means anything really, Alyssa and Rose were always changing their hair. And anyway, I cast a white guy as Darryl as I have major respect for Jack Coleman and I think he'd of created a really interesting character.

I always found it strange that they casted a blonde as Melinda Warren, but then seem to want to insist that Halliwells (except for Wyatt due to Leo) are brunettes, part of why I'd love to have the remake have the sisters have the last name of Warren rather than Halliwell - let what Grams says about their family keeping their maiden name actually be true.
I'd also love to have a remake prove that blondes aren't necessarily dumb. It would be funny if they cast Melinda Warren as a brunette...

I'd probably cast Finola Hughes or Shannen Doherty as Melinda Warren in my remake, so there was so some kind of nod to the original series.

Oh, man, now there's an idea I totally love! Either that or Holly or Alyssa or, hehehehe, Lori Romm!

Hehehehe. I found a totally different way of recasting Charmed. Although I disagree with one - and you'll all know *which* one - try THIS out!

I posted that video in your thread in the VIP section about a male Power of Three yesterday. I thought this video was a cool twist on the Charmed Ones, with three brothers (Cole, Coop, and Chris). The power of three men - credits - Charmed. I like the idea of the C tradition in place of the P tradition, all the way up to P3 being renamed C3. I think it's a pretty cool concept!

OOPS! You can tell I hadn't visited the VIP section!
I also like the idea of the "C" tradition rather than the "P" tradition. It's the only reason why I like the three characters they chose, since it would be Cole, Coop and Chris. Now if they only could've found someone else to play Chris...
So would their father and grandfather also have "C" names like Penny and Patty?? And would it have been their mother (Victoria - probably played by Jennifer rather than Finola) who walked out on them when they were young??

What was your reason, again, for making Darryl white? What's wrong with a black actor who can make Darryl a "really interesting character"?

Why does Darryl have to be any race for god's sake. I don't care if he is white, black, asian, hispanic, or anything else.

There was no racial reason at all, I just happen to like Coleman and I think he'd of made a fantastic Darryl. Despite being a lot older than Dorian Gregory was, I could easily see Coleman playing a Darryl in his late thirties (despite Jack being 53) and Darryl is the character you could probably play with the most (age-wise).

Sorry, but I can't see a 53 year-old Jack Coleman portraying a Darryl in his late 30s. One would have to use CGI to get that to work.

Are you kidding? The guy barely has a wrinkle in sight and other than that reseeding hair line, he is in pretty good nick. He can easily pass for a guy in his 30's and his reseeding hairline doesn't make him look any older, hell my friend's hairline has reseeded to about the same length and was 18 on Thursday!

He's fifty-three? I would have guessed early to mid forties. I could see him playing late thirties. I've only seen limited amounts of his acting, so I have no opinion on that, but age wise, I could see him working.

Following the red headed Charmed Ones idea, how about: Annie Wersching as a thirty year old, Prue. Strong, conserative, moral but also slightly vulunerable. Alot like her character, Renee Walker in 24. Deborah Ann Woll is no stranger to fantasy television starring in Vampire Diaries and she would be my pick for Piper. Perhaps a little more ballsy than Holly's Piper but still remains the shy, neurotic Piper we know and love. Finally, I would cast Emma Stone as Phoebe. She would be spunky, fresh and very "current". She'd perhaps be a bit more cheeky, quirky and dominating than the Phoebe we know and will be someone who is likely to give Prue a run for her money as head witch. I would cast the extremely talented Blair Brown as Grams with Gillian Anderson as Patty.
