What is Phoebe and Coop's relationship like in the comics? Is it all sappy and lovey dovey in the comics like they still haven't gotten out of their honeymoon phase yet?

Yup. He's definitely a cupid, much more than he was on the show, madly in love with his wife who is madly in love with him, much more than they were on the show. And I like him a lot more in the comics than I did on the show.

Yep, and their daughter can't let her Mommy go. That's what I saw in the Comic Vol.1 I have.

That's really interesting! I wonder if any of the stars of the show read the comics.. Does anyone know if they have?

From what we can tell, none of them have. I think they all want to put Charmed behind them.

From what we can tell, none of them have. I think they all want to put Charmed behind them. Victor Webster showed an interest in finding the comics, although I have no idea if he ever read any. Holly Marie Combs has commented on covers when people have shown them to her on twitter, but I don't get the impression she has read them. Rose McGowan stated once that she had never read any and one of the authors at the time (Paul's temporary co-author, Raven Gregory) offered to send her a copy, but I don't know that anything came of it. Other than that, I have seen no sign that any of them have any interest what so ever. Not contradicting what you said, obviously, but I thought I'd add a little detail.

I wonder what's going to happen when they finally get out of that honeymoon phase. It couldn't last forever, even with a cupid as a husband.

Hard to say...although Piper and Leo still are...much more than they were in the series...even with three kids.
The ones who seem to be having problems are Henry and Paige, but only because it's hard for Henry to not be able to do anything to help Paige. They're doing something different with Leo, something I definitely don't like, but is fun.

Interesting. Well, I don't really have an interest in reading the comics either, so I can definitely see why they would not want to haha. Not that I'm trashing the comics (obviously, since I haven't read any of them), but I just feel that so much of Charmed was the actors portrayal of the characters, and that's what I loved so much - also, I don't have the money to buy anything at this time in my life haha.

It sounds as if the relationships in the comics are portrayed in a more ideal manner than they were on the show.

So far they have and that I like...it means the emphasis is on the sisters and their relationship with each other and not the relationship with their men or their kids...it's much less of a soap opera.
You wouldn't like it, ljones...the good guys are good and the bad guys are bad and never the twain shall meet. So, of course, that I love. Very idealistic, not in the least-bit realistic, but, oh, so good, and, oh, so much fun...the way the show was before Cole showed up.
Speaking of, he's back and still obsessed with Phoebe. Fortunately Phoebe is no longer obsessed with him and instead is in love with her husband. I hope we can still say that when the comics are finished, but only Paul Ruditis knows for sure...
And, yes, it's true that you're not seeing the actors act it out, but for me that's just like reading a fic...I've seen the actors portray those characters enough that I can imagine how they would act it if indeed this was live and not on paper/on computer screen...especially when they're written in character, and in the comic books they most definitely are.

There is nothing more boring to me than an ideal romance or marriage in a story. If their marriages are basically ideal, then their personal lives are put on a back burner. And I think it would be a better idea if their personal lives are balanced between their immediate families and with each other. It doesn't make sense to focus the stories on the relationship between the sisters . . . at the expense of their kids and husbands. It just doesn't work if they are married and have kids.

The marriages are boring, but the stories most definitely are not. Because it's NOT all about their relationships with their husbands and their kids...my least-favorite part of the comics, especially the kids...it's about their relationship with each other as sisters, and their battles against evil, because as I said, the good are VERY good and the bad are VERY bad, and never the twain shall meet.
But as I said, I knew it would't be something you'd like, and I'm glad. Because undoubtedly if you had liked it, I wouldn't. Which doesn't mean my vision of the show (where good is always good and evil is always evil) is right and yours (where it's realistic and everyone can be either good or evil) is wrong, or yours is right and mine is wrong; it just makes us different. Vive le difference!
I'm just glad that Paul Ruditis seems to look at the series the same way I do, where you can get epic battles of good vs evil, because Good is truly good and Evil is truly evil.
Realistic, the way you'd want it and the way Brad Kern seemed to try to change it into? Of course not!
Great escapism, the way Connie Burge meant it to be? Oh, oh, yes!
ETA: And who knows? (Only Paul Ruditis...) Phoebe has just found out that Cole is back. Will it make a difference in her and Coop's relationship? God, I hope not. But for those who think that Cole actually loves Phoebe and isn't just obsessed with her, they probably think otherwise.
As for Cole, he's the one who Patty sent hunting for Prue, but he's just doing that because he wants to get out of limbo, so is he good or evil? The answer is my favorite answer in this series...only Paul Ruditis knows for sure. And that's what makes it so much fun!

Just had to throw in that I've got the next issue and I LOVE Paul Ruditis! I *totally* ADORE how he handled the Coop-Phoebe-Cole triangle *AND* the Prue/Phoebe one--even the Prue/Paige one! He is slowly but surely righting all of the wrongs that Brad Kern made!
Not certain what ljones and/or marienomad and/or other Cole-fans would think of the solution (Cole does *not* get the girl, but neither is he vanquished, nor is he still trapped in limbo or sent to the Demonic Wasteland or Hell...), but I *love* it!
How I wish he could've been the executive producer of Charmed from Day One! He truly knows and loves these characters, just like we fans do.

Would you mind spoiling it for me Es (through Spoiler Tags or PMs)? I don't mind the spoilers and would like to know how Paul handled both of those issues! Pretty, please?

Well, since I can't figure out how to do spoiler tags on this site, I'll have to do it via PMs. But in order to do that, I almost have to do a "script" of the entire issue and I can't do that right now. I should be able to tonight after work. Do you want just this one or the issue that came before it, too?

I wouldn't want you to go through too much trouble Es, so while I would appreciate both, I can understand if you only have time to do the current one for me. It's up to you as well as how much time and energy you have available. Thanks SO much in advance for spoiling me, lol!

You have such a wonderful sense of humor . . . even if I don't agree with you.
As for Cole "not getting the girl", I think he's better off without Phoebe. She is too immature for the likes of him.

You have such a wonderful sense of humor . . . even if I don't agree with you. I'm glad you think so. Well, she's much more mature than she was in S3-8 while still keeping the childlike (not childish) part of her personality that originally (before Cole showed up) made her my favorite. I thank Coop (and Paul Ruditis) for that. If Cole *is* going to end up with a girl at all, it looks like it might eventually end up being Prue! What would your reaction towards *that* be?? I've always thought they'd make a better match than Phoebe and Cole or even Andy and Prue!

Phoebe is a far more likable character in the comics, Esmerelda described her perfectly. I thought she might be falling back into old habits in season 10 with her book tour, but thankfully that seems to be nipped in the bud.
I admit, in season 8 I didn't like Coop. But I don't mind him in the comics. Paul did a really good job at fleshing out both Coop and Henry in season 9. With Coop we learn a lot more about what it means to be a cupid and it made Coop a far more "human" and sympathetic character. It seems season 10 will be introducing some turbulence into their relationship, so we'll see what happens there.
