Yeah we spend a lot of time getting knocked u.....out...I mean knocked unconsc..I mean..you know what I mean.....we do never get to just talk....actually it’s mostly my fault I’m always worried about everyone else......when I don’t need to be. I’m always worried about Chris.....or Wyatt and trying...to do everything....and I forgot about just being their to listen. I’m sorry Cher I don’t mean to be like that....I’m so sorry” Melinda said feeling bad for being such a crap friend lately but a bit relieved she had done so.

Small talk seemed like a good idea for the moment, even though they both knew they were waiting to find out about Chris.

“I dunno....really I mean I guess a girl but a boy would be nice too......but I think I would want to have a boy since...actually I think I’ll go with a girl” Melinda said quickly changing her mind. She had wanted a boy because that had been what her mother's first born was a male, but then she realized her mother's first born was Wyatt and well Wyatt . . . was just something she did not want to think of. “Yeah a girl.....you know like old family tradition....”.

“We already are family, who gives a rats behind about DNA, Cherish you are like a sister to me, so you are family and always have.....We’ve been friends since pre-school and even when Mom was around she always . . . said you were like her second daughter...” Melinda said pausing thinking about her mother. It made her feel sad inside but she brushed it off and then looked back at Cherish
“I need to take a walk.....” Melinda said suddenly wanting to get her mind off things for a while. “Do you want anything?” Melinda asked looking over at Cherish. Cherished nodded no and said she was going to take a nap on the pull out bed.
Mel left the room and went over to the Nurse’s station to see if she was aloud to take a walk. The nurse nodded and Mel headed down the elevators to get a cup of coffee in the cafeteria. She pushed the button as the doors slid open and stepped inside............

John was skimming through the dairy deserts they had in the hospital cafeteria
Gosh, even the deserts in hospitals look bad, good thing I decided to become a lawyer
Thought John as he motioned the cafeteria lady which desert to pick out for him. As he was handed his desert, he suddenly noticed the door open and hesitated as he saw who was opening it.
Melinda, she woke up out of her coma
he thought as he walked over to her with wide eyes
"Melinda, it's been so long, it's me, John"

Melinda stepped inside the elevator when she looked up she met John’s face. She heard him speak and felt really nervous inside. “Yeah....I know you were there earlier, you know when I woke up . . . and . . . then you just uh . . . So.... uh...what...brings you back to San Francisco?” Melinda asked finally thinking of something to say.

John felt the nervousness in her tone, and started to feel a little nervous himself.
"I decided to come back after completing law school in New York, and then I heard all about you and your brothers...too bad we never got the courage to admit it to one another"
John sais as he looked into Melinda's bright eyes.

“Wait what? How much . . . did Chris tell you . . . Wait admit what to each other?” Melinda asked confused. She did not yet know he was a witch or that he even knew she was one. She looked at him blankly wondering what he was talking about.

John paused for a moment and then reminded himself that he hadn't told Melinda about his secret, or that he knew hers.
"Melinda, I know you're a witch, a charmed one even, and the reason I know this is because...I'm a witch too, I've always been since High School."

Melinda just stared at John in brief shock then just started to laugh from disbelief. “That’s funny....a witch.....who would of known not Mel...obviously....You are serious aren’t you...?" Melinda said the laugh dropping from her face. She couldn't her believe ears.

Melinda heard John talking about her being cute and about turn-ons. Right....my life can’t get anymore complicated, so much for thinking. Melinda thought then looked up at John. “I’m not so cute, especially in the mornings.....I could probably turn Medusa into stone some of these mornings and I don’t know if fighting demons is really a turn on....I mean.....a lot of times it’s a turn off..... broken bones and blood not a pretty picture....definitely not a good turn on.” Melinda babbled nervously.

John listened to Melinda go on and couldn't help but be reminded of their conversations back in high school.
"Well Mel, I can't say you've changed a bit, wrinkles-in-all"
He remarked sarcastically again, as he gave her another smile and motioned her to walk over with him to the table.

“Uh . . . yeah” Melinda said then followed him and over to the table, she let him sit down first and then took a seat across the table from him and pushed the chair back a bit further, hoping she wasn’t being too obvious. “Uh . . . I was just making room for my legs . . . I’m 5'10 now, you know so I need lots’ of room . . . ” She said with a slight grin.

John sat down as he noticed Melinda sit a bit further away from him than he assumed she would and then pull back her legs as he heard her comment.
"Melinda, I said I was a witch, not a demon, you don't need to feel alienated around your old ex-boyfriend, don't worry, I don't bite"
he said casually as he decided to skip the main course of his hospital ordinated meal and go straight for his desert.
"So what have you been up to since high school besides demon vanquishing, fill me in on lost time"

Melinda could feel her heart racing especially when he said the word boyfriend. Then he went and asked her what had gone on in her life. “Oh......there's not much to tell really a whole lot of nothing.....it’s all pedestrian really....” She said still grinning a bit. She felt like she was going to burst. She had never felt this nervous before even if she had thought that all the other times she was nervous. She felt awkward like she was some foreign fish out of water. Okay Mel just act casual.... She thought then looked at John taking a deep breath.

John eat away as he listened to Melinda briefly talk about her life, her words telling him she just didn't want to go there, and considering her current position, with her dictating brother and the fact that she was pregnant and what not, he reasoned what she said was understandable, and decided to change the subject.
"So did anyone tell you who found you and brought you to the hospital when you were attacked?"
He asked curiously, wanting to tell her it was him if anyone hadn't told her already.

John asked casually, not knowing that Andy the supposed family 'uncle' was actually the family whitelighter.
