How Paige was able to forgive Patty in "Charmed Again" for abandoning her but was still bitter towards Sam for doing the same as Patty?

Good question, though it took her a long time to forgive Sam.

I agree, but I think it was because he was so repulsing and full of self pity when she met him. Anyway that aside it does seem a little hypocritical.

Because Patty was dead and Sam was a whitelighter who could've come see her? At least in Season Four, the only way Patty could come see them was by being summoned - and that by Paige's half-sisters, not she herself, since she didn't know that she was a witch.
But even after Sam knew she was a witch, he didn't come see her until after the Elders made him her charge - after she had been a witch for a year.
And worse, after Patty's death, he wasn't even a whitelighter, yet he still never tried to see her - he was too busy feeling sorry for himself to think about his daughter.
Yeah, I can see why she'd be bitter.

Yeah, I can see why she'd be bitter. It's interesting that the sisters' fathers - Victor and Sam - are portrayed in a more negative light than Patty. I wonder why. It almost seemed as if Burge, Kern and the writers were afraid to expose Patty's less than pleasant traits. And it made no sense to me that Paige was easily to forgive both Patty and Grams for abandoning, when it wasn't really necessary; yet remained so bitter toward Sam. If I had been her, I would have been bitter toward all three.

Patty's biggest unpleasant trait was the fact that she was pregnant with Paige while she was still with Victor - she was pregnant in that video that the sisters watch during Season One.
I don't think I would've been bitter towards all three when I found out that they had done that to protect me. It's the fact that like Victor, he never tried to see her even when he wasn't a whitelighter that would've bothered me. I can kinda understand why he didn't - she would've reminded him too much of Patty - but still, she's his daughter...

Protect Paige from what? From whom? The whitelighters? They had no right to take Paige away. They didn't even have the right to force Paige to assume whitelighter duties.

Wasn't it said that at the beginning of S4 that even the Elders had no idea that Paige existed? As it was a forbidden romance/relationship between whitelighters and witches - until Piper and Leo came along. Though Sam and Patty experienced it a bit, without a fear for their daughter who was raised by mortals instead. Yet it would have been nice to see all four sisters grow up together.

Except the prophecy was always just about three, so Paige would've been on the outside looking in. I think she would've felt bitter towards her half-sisters... So, no, I'm glad she didn't grow up with her half-sisters - she would've felt even more like a half than she did during the show.

Thinking about this, and also the way the show did witchlighters, I think that had Paige grown up with her half-sisters, with them knowing about the prophecy and Paige the one who was trained to use her powers as their future whitelighter rather than Leo, the series might have been better.
Nah!

I thought that video of her baby bump was her pregnant with Phoebe? There's no way the writers knew back then to foreshadow Paige's existence.

Are you referring to the video that Victor gave them in early Season One? Or are you speaking of a later video?

It would make sense since Phoebe was a baby here. At that X-Mas party. It could be possible.

With how old they were when Patty died, she almost had to be.

At the time of Patty's death in February 1978, Prue was seven years old, Piper was five, Phoebe was over a year old and Paige was six (almost seven) months old.

If Patty died in February 1978, Phoebe was born in November 1975 and Paige in August 1977 that Christmas video can only really be in December 1976. Patty would be about a month pregnant with Paige.
I get why Paige was bitter towards Sam, especially in Season 8 when he just dropped in and complained that she wasn't being a good, little whitelighter and she wasn't calling him 'Dad' yet. Why would she? She'd met him once once before.

Thats why I never understood why she called Patty "Mom" right away when she first met her. It appeared that she had a good relationship with her adopted parents. Wouldn't she have saved "Mom" for her real mom, and not her blood mother?

Maybe she was completely shocked to finally meet her birth mother and actually called her mom accidentally when she didn't mean to in the first place which's probably not true.
More likely when Paige was introduced on Charmed the producers wanted her to form a bond very quickly with her real family because they were vanquishing the Source that year which always got me being the fact that Paige had never seen them before so you'd think it'd take longer for that to happen there.
When the writers done the script for Charmed Again part 2 they probably didn't take into account first the fact it would look silly Paige saying mom straight away because of what I said above.
I always wondered why Paige didn't see Grams or Sam along with her mother as they were her family to. Had the Elders already made Sam a Whitelighter again or was it that the writers just wanted Paige to know her mother then and not her grandmother also because that's who she was looking for in the first place.
