"CHARMED" was part soap opera since the first episode. One of the reasons Prue and Phoebe were at odds was due to Prue's belief that Phoebe tried to put the moves on her then fiance, Roger Whatshisname. Prue's relationship with Andy partially dominated Season One. The whole Piper/Leo love saga pretty much kicked into high gear in this first season. Those years with Constance Burge wasn't all about sisterhood. Personally, I was never upset over the sisters' relationships with men. The series more or less focused upon both romances and sibling relationships without one overbalancing the other. Were they really supposed to spend five to eight years on the air without a serious relationship experienced by one of them? If so . . . why?
Yes you had Piper and Leo's relationship which was serious 'cause they defied the Elders when they said, "No you can't be together because of the rules thing." And had kids from that.
Also Andy and Prue weren't together for forever same as Cole and Phoebe but they were considered serious relationships as the men were in more than 2-3 episodes which's when I wouldn't call them serious.

I've noticed this increasing demand from women moviegoers and television viewers that the only strong women characters are those who do not have romantic relationships with men. I've never understood this attitude. In fact, I find it ironic that both women and men seemed to have a problem with major fictional characters getting involved with serious romance. Men seemed to think that such relationships weaken male characters. And women seemed to think that these relationships weaken female characters. Go figure. But "With great power comes great responsibility." As Ben Parker in Spiderman said. When the Halliwell sisters found out they were witches and Phoebe got a premonition about an innocent the sisters went to save them because that was their job which was demanding and took up a lot of their lives wasn't glamorous and had setbacks been having no term friends or relationships for some of them unfortunately which they knew would happen through experience and especially when they vowed to be "witches" forever after Rex and Hannah took their powers.
I mean you wouldn't have had Prue rumbling around with Andy S1 and have her continue doing that after Phoebe rings about an innocent would you? No she'd go help save them with her sisters because innocents came first which's not to say all the sisters couldn't have men it's good to have a balance but when things like that happened then men took a back seat for a while so to speak. I'm talking about early seasons of course.
Then you have to think about men in general secondly in terms of their girlfriend, wife, fiancee. How would they feel if they fought out that person was a witch who could do real magic which actually existed as well as real evil to. Some may run for the hills, some may accept that like Kyle and Henry, others might blab to papers to get money for e.g. Also could they put up with them leaving or cancelling dates often or even in the middle of nooky and the fact they could be in danger from evil by being associated with the Halliwell sisters which demons like Barbas say could use against them or end up being killed by them to.
These are something's the Charmed Ones may think of when going with men.
Now when Phoebe had her baby daddy storyline. Don't get me started on that she stopped being Phoebe and became "Freebee" whom I hated and depised which totally ruined her character wise in my opinion especially the way she got Coop which was wrong as she'd done nothing in a long time previously to deserve him and so would've been much better of without him or any other men till after season 8 or if so as others have previously stated dumped Coop when she got pregnant and continued on as a single mum.
So what I'm saying is that no I don't disagree that important women shouldn't have men in their lives as they can be good for them character wise making them become better people ultimately although the men on Charmed were treated more like lap dogs than real men really but that it might be hard keeping them especially with the Charmed Ones wiccan lives and what they did plus what happened with Phoebe later on baby daddy wise it maybe better not having them sometimes.
