Holly could play Patty tbh, they have the same power in the show and I don't think she's old enough to play Grams.

I chose Grams just because she'd be a bigger part of the show than Patty. Besides, if it's a reboot and not a continuation, I don't expect it to air for another ten years, in which case Holly would be just about the right age, depending upon how old they made the sisters. (And remember how young Grams looked in 1968 just before Prue was born in 1970... *roll eyes*). Because she'd be playing someone else, what power she had or didn't have shouldn't make any difference.

Honestly, I'd prefer a reboot that has an all-new setting and characters, so no Grams or any other characters from the old show. Just take the premise and nothing more.
A reboot with new characters has a greater shot at success, IMO. It'll be harder to compare it unfavorably to the original.

And, as I have said before, this reboot should try the Charmed Ones as part of a different ethnic group. The old Charmed may have thought it was still the 1950's, this hypothetical new one shouldn't.

And, some LGBT characters, please. For taking place in San Francisco, Charmed was horribly lacking in that department. One throwaway Ensign Deadmeat, and that's it.

Same problem. The two men in overall charge were two Old White Men who's values were formed in the 1950's.
Hopefully, IF this reboot ever happens, the person in charge will be younger, hopefully born in the 1960's or 70's.

Maybe Prue, as phoebe would be too common. Though imagine piper and her female whitelighter hooking up. If they did do that I hope the shoe puts each sister at different stages in life, oldest married, middle single and starting a new job and the youngest in college.

I agree. Write the show for the 21st Century, not the 20th.
As for a lesbian witch, well, if Joss Whedon could do it...

I don't see the big deal about making them different ethnicities, there is nothing wrong with three white sisters, I would be totally up for making one a lesbian though, or maybe make Leo gay.

Or make their whitelighter Leonora and still have Piper fall for her. If Sherlock could make Watson an Asian female, why can't the new whitelighter be a female who's part of an ethnic minority? It also means Piper only has adopted children, which would be fine with me. Hopefully the reboot doesn't include witchlighters, Paige included, since they are what made having a Charmed mother less important to having a whitelighter father while having that Charmed mother is what should always be most important or the show shouldn't be called Charmed.

Because, three white sisters has already been done before? Besides, minority representation on TV is horrid, especially on genre shows.

Yeah, I mean take your pick of white lead characters. How about some black, or Asian, or others for a change. It won't hurt to try.

I hope the series is set in a completely different city like say Salem, New Orleans, Texas or something.
Why did they choose San Francisco. Its not like they showed any gay characters, and one of the three sisters should of been a lesbian to represent the gay community.
New Orleans would of fitted alot better, given there is alot more Wicca culture there. Since I dont think Salem would be ideal.
I just never cared too much for San Francisco as a setting.

What about somewhere in Virginia where Melinda Warren lived before moving to Salem like Richmond for e.g. but modern day obviously which would be a nod to the original show.

Big NO to Salem. Way too cliché, IMO. New Orleans would be nice, though, especially if the sisters were black (to better represent New Orleans' culture). This one's also not a bad idea. You rarely see TV shows set in Virginia for some reason (despite the state practically being the birthplace of the US).

Well, there was The Walton's, but that show ended more than thirty years ago!
I wouldn't mind seeing another show set there.

Well, there was The Walton's, but that show ended more than thirty years ago! I wouldn't mind seeing another show set there. Obviously, TV networks and producers prefer to cater to the largest markets, which is why you see a TON of TV shows set in the Northeast and California (especially NYC and Los Angeles, the two most heavily-populated and media-dominant parts of the country). And, when they want to deliberately go for a more "rural" setting, they're more likely to go for the Deep South (usually Mississippi or Alabama), Appalachia (usually West Virginia, Kentucky, or Tennessee), the Great Plains (usually Missouri, Kansas, or Oklahoma), or the desert (usually Texas, New Mexico, or Arizona). For whatever reason, the Mid-Atlantic (as well as the Carolinas) just doesn't have much of an appeal to showbusiness. Outside of the DC-Baltimore area, you don't see many shows set in Maryland, either. I guess the markets in these states just aren't large enough to "matter" like the Northeast/California, yet they're still not rural/hillbilly enough for flyover country settings.

Good an explanation as any. However, there is a lot more to the U.S. than New York and L.A. Are they afraid of another Rural Purge?

Well in Britain a lot of our television shows are filmed around London, Birmingham, Manchester and Liverpool which are big cities here that we Brits are used to and so haven't had a lot other television programmes set outside those besides Doctor Who and Torchwood filmed in Cardiff Wales, Broadchurch Dorset, Doc Martin Cornwall, Inspector Morse Oxford and Bergerac channel islands Jersey in the 1980's .

Good an explanation as any. However, there is a lot more to the U.S. than New York and L.A. Are they afraid of another Rural Purge? Again, it's odd. The Mid-Atlantic states and Carolinas aren't exactly Bumf*ck Egypt, they're just less super-densely populated (like most places in the US) than the Northeast or California. Yet, they hardly exist in TV shows and movies, less so than even actual Flyover Country. There is a precedence for youth-oriented shows being set in these "forgotten" states--Dawson's Creek and One Tree Hill. Both took place in North Carolina instead of NYC or So.Cal, and both were extremely successful. 5 seasons for the former and a whopping 9 for the latter. In fact, many people actually praised the more modest settings of these shows, considering them to be more realistic and relatable (as much as a standard teen drama can be) than shows like BH 90210, The OC, and Gossip Girl (which all had far more glamorous NYC/So.Cal settings). Yeah, this problem isn't limited to just the US. The bigger a city, the more likely it will be the setting of a TV show.
