Maybe you should've put Jason instead of Clay. Yeah, I agree that Clay doesn't really fit the Mr. Cardboard mode the way her fantasy guys did and I'd count Jason in there. Honestly, I think it's a three-way tie - they were the same character, just adapted to a different fantasy: Jason, the publisher who could make PhoeME famous; Dex who her premonitions seem to say was her dream man, and Coop, the ultimate cupid who couldn't keep his hands off her. The show would've been better if none of them were part of it. You can also throw Leslie into that mix... All of her slampieces were so darn boring, especially when what she needed was a very hard slap of reality. I always wished she'd end up with a plain, non-magical handyman who couldn't give her Ladybug (we all know that she'd make a worse mother than Piper since all she cared about was herself) but who would make the true baby of the family the center of his universe, the only way that would let PhoeME be happy. I can't see any of her fantasy guys doing that, so instead I see her divorced even more often than Grams, and I pity any child who would have to grow up in that situation.

I agree and I vote Jason At the start he seems Mr Right, caring, loving, smitten since My Three Witches The world of desires in which Gith throws Phoebe is what Jason wants for her: fame, celebrity, success He needs a trophy wife, an enviable woman, beautiful and famous Jason: I was so wrapped up in my career
Career was the most important thing for him: two boring men are still better than a frantic careerist

Coop came off almost like a stalker.
Most women would probably have gotten a restraining order against him, not fallen in love with him.

Dex. I'll say one word to prove my point - "Art".

Yeah, if we're going for boring, I'll have to go with Dex. Coop manages to be both repellent and dull, but I think Dex has him beaten in terms of sheer lack of energy. Jason Lewis seriously looked and sounded like he was about to fall asleep in some scenes.

Of course, when you run into Coop, you may change your mind...

Yeah, I'd agree with those saying Clay is not like the others in this conversation.
I'd also agree with Nathan's assessment. At least Coop made a mild amount of sense continuity-wise and had a purpose to being there. Dex was entirely meaningless, uninspired and dull. He added nothing beyond a notch on Phoebe's belt.

Coop had no purpose. He was only there because of Charmed's 1950's style thinking that a woman can never be happy or fulfilled unless she marries and becomes a breeding machine.

I liked Jason, I was disappointed by his behaviour
Dex seemed awaiting Samantha Jones'comeback from Sex and the City to revive
Coop would be a perfect friend if he was a friend who helps to reflect, not one that wants to pair you at all costs, and with a colleague! Pathetic the Cyranò scene: could in the 2000s a girl attend a declamation of poems under the balcony without thinking of a bad taste joke done to be reviewed on youtube?
For this reason I vote Coop

I don't think it's far off now.

Here's the thing: I don't recall saying it was a good purpose, in fact everything I've said about Coop's role on the show indicates I find it laughable. The point is there was actually a smidgen of thought behind his existence and an in-universe reason why he was sent at Phoebe's feet—meaning if he was in hands more capable than those of Frog Management & Kernun Creative he could've actually been something good. That's not much, but it's more than I could ever say for Dex—who honestly wasn't even enough of an idea to warrant considering a bad idea; just an utter waste of creative thought and airtime.

I'm not that familiar with Dex and Coop.

For me Dex was not really needed. He was the filler for Coop if you like. And again, he was not seen before he was needed in Phoebe's storyline.
