Welcome to the Cafe dear, I hope you have fun here. And yes, we have a reboot board too, so you can discuss that with those who do watch and like it. I'm glad you liked Elemental Charmed and the other Fanfics we have here too. Yes, me and Es are the eldest members here, I know we have another member older than me, but she hasn't posted here in a while. Is that Shadow Cat, Granny, or someone else? I didn't know that Shadow Cat was older than you. Jean, like the others, I'm happy to have a fellow Baby Boomer as part of the Café! We tend to look at Charmed a bit differently than the younger members do, although the older they get, the more they seem to look at it the way we do. But the absolute best part about the Café is that everyone is welcomed to their own opinion about Charmed no matter how unpopular that opinion is - as long as the member allows others that same right to express their opinion! We don't knock others just because they have a different opinion and posts don't vanish unless they were posted by someone who has broken this very important rule. I know you've been part of a site where that rule isn't followed, I hope you enjoy the fact that it is followed here.  Yes, the Baby Boomers certainly do look at Charmed differently. Probaly why, I'm just so conflicted with the reboot of Charmed, and although I watch, it isn't as great as Classic Charmed, and I wished the reboot was more like S1 and S2 of the original. Oh, well.
That sounds very good, and a good rule.

Hello guys and gals! I recently just discovered this forum, ten years too late I must add, since until yesterday I hadn't watched an episode of the favourite series of my early youth for ten years – Charmed. I don't know why, but somehow the three sisters popped into my head yesterday and I felt an urge to rewatch the series that I now only know through fond memories. I searched for "Charmed + forum" on Google to see if there still were any people out there watching it, or if everybody had moved on to the latest trends and happenings in the television world. I was struck by a warming delight when I reached this forum and saw that there in fact were hardcore fans still out still, discussing to and fro about the series and its development.
I'm 25 years old, male and from Sweden. I wouldn't say that I'm your average Charmed-fan. I haven't really watched any series that has much affinity to Charmed. I'm more like your average formulaic HBO-nerd, having watched the Sopranos and the Wire over and over again, though my real passion lies in studying history and literature (being a writer of literary criticism in Swedish literary magazines) and classical and church music.
I got to know Charmed a few years after it all started, somewhere in the early 2000s. Having been born in 1993, I started following the series when I was about ten years old and I was crazy about it for the next five years. I wasn't feeling too well during these years, finding highschool excruciating (not because I was bullied, but because being a teenager, any teenager, was, to me, an intolerable experience, trying to find your place on this both terrible and wonderful planet we call Earth). During these years, the sisters were my heroes, my escape, my nook where I could hide from everything, the remote corner of my heart where nobody could disturb or frighten me. That lasted for about five years, and then I moved on to other things in life: literature came first but also music. The sisters fell out of my consciousness and I payed them no mind for ten years, preoccupied with university studies, reading and writing, chess, girlfriends, etcetera.
Until yesterday. Boom. The sisters, as I said, popped into my head and I searched on Youtube the following words: "Charmed theme"... "I am the son, I am the heir..." – seeing the sisters again and hearing that wonderful song my heart started to bleed from an immense feeling of nostalgia. I decided to rewatch it and I've now seen the first five episodes and I love it. I was kind of afraid that, by rewatching it ten years later, I would mess up all of my memories of it and not find it a particularly exciting watch. But quite the opposite actually, though I don't want the first three seasons to end, ever, since they were always my favourite ones (not liking Phoebe turning "evil", Prue dying, the expanding of the universe and mythology etcetera was never really my bag– I prefered the wondrous harmony and sisterhood of the first three seasons).
Anyways, that was my little intro. It's really cool that there still is a forum, alive and kicking, dedicated to the series. I'll sure be reading and catching up on stuff that have been written here, though probably most often as a silent scrutinizer rather than as an active poster.

You probably did capitalize Kasparov, but ProBoards makes the name you registered with your User Name, which you'll use to login, and ProBoards forces all of those to be in small letters. If you want your Display Name to be different than your User Name, here's how I changed mine from esmeralda to Esmeralda. 1. Up near the top of the page, in the Main Menu, I hit "Profile" 2. Over near the upper right, there's a box that says "Edit Profile". I hit that. 3. Now I had all sorts of options to explore, which I did later on, but for now, I just hit the "Personal" tab. 4. I could now see the box where I could type in my new display name (I typed "Esmeralda") Then I went to the bottom and found the box that says "Save Personal Settings". Once I hit that, I went from being esmralda to being Esmeralda. 5. In order to check it out, I went back to the Café by just hitting "Home" in the Main Menu. Hope this helps! And hope you enjoy yourself at the Café! |

GC is short for Granny Charmed and DC is short for Daughter Charmed (Granny Charmed's daughter) and GDC is short for Granddaughter Charmed (Granny Charmed's granddaughter) since all three live together, and join us weekly for the re-watches, using Granny Charmed's account, so they go by GC, DC and GDC making their comments. It's interesting that they didn't make this ending a two parter, because "Death Becomes Them" and "Something Wicca This Way Goes" are basically direct continuations. I guess they are a two-parter in some way, or direct continuations. Well, S7 is far better than S5 & S6's two-parters, if I can just count the last two episodes of a season that way. I still have some issues with SWTWG's with a few plotholes and stuff I didn't like that Kern did. But, I guess it was the best finale out of S5-S8 for sure. |
