ES: LOL, this is another reason why doing your commenting the way later on is a good idea. Unforuately when someone replies to nested quotes, the original one goes away. What you ended up doing is what we call "the skyscraper method" since they can become quite long. But at least they stay put! So I'll turn your earlier ones into skyscrapers.
Also, most people just call me Es (quicker to type than Esmeralda), so I'll also change those.
SILAS: The skyscraper method looks great, and if it stays put, I'll keep doing it too. Different to what I'm used to seeing from other message boards.
Es is quicker to type, so appreciate you changing that.
ES: First, that is so cool that they call our Charmed "Classic Charmed" - that's what we've been calling it since the reboot started.
SILAS: How cool is that.
ES:
SILAS:
----------------
ES: Do you like the reboot?
SILAS: I have, a few things need to be fixed though. I'm really enjoying Harry the most, a big change from Leo. He is probably miles more interesting than Leo to me. I also appreciate that they don't treat Harry the way the sisters and especially Piper treat Leo. I'm looking forward to seeing what they do with Harry and Macy. Kind of interesting for a whitelighter to fall in love with a half-demon/witch. I'm glad they are taking it so slow, they haven't really officially gotten together yet.
ES: From what I've heard, I would've preferred if he remained more like the older guy on Buffy (another show I've never watched, but heard a lot of) - just a guardian and not a lover.
SILAS: Yeah, they just can't seem to stop with the love stories don't they. I'll be so mad if they get married and have children though anytime soon.
-----------------
SILAS: I'm hoping that with the show renewed for a fourth season, they can fix the parts wrong with it.
ES: So it has been renewed? I was hoping with its bad ratings that it wouldn't be, so only Classic Charmed would be the Charmed in syndication. Oh, well. For fans like you who like it, I'm happy for you.
SILAS: Yes, it got renewed, and I saw the CW basically renewed nearly it's entire line-up. Perhaps half their audience watches online or through streaming, and that is what is keeping the reboot alive. But, I'm happy. I truly do not believe it will get to eight seasons like Classic Charmed did. Maybe five at most.
---------------
SILAS: The set-up is fairly different than a forum. But I see a fair amount of activity, since at least 30-40 are online or at least reading a day. Reddit seems to be a big thing, as it is where most actors go to do AMA's which are Q&A's with fans, who come online and ask questions and actors, producers, writers or anybody else famous will answer them as they go along looking at fan questions. Alyssa and Brian have done some here before, but it isn't just Charmed they answer question for.
www.reddit.com/r/IAmA/comments/6rlavk/i_am_alyssa_milano_ask_me_anything/https://www.reddit.com/r/movies/comments/7cwyvw/im_brian_krause_you_know_me_from_my_days_on/www.reddit.com/r/charmed/new/ES: Now that's awful cool! But I can't say I'd want to ask any of the actors anything - I'd want to ask Connie Burge what her ideas for S3 and S4 were and tell Sheryl J. Anderson how much I love how she writes the sisters, especially Prue, and how much I wish she was able to stay with the show for all eight seasons, especially if Connie was still the executive producer and not Brad Kern. I'm positive that he's the main reason for all of the changes - and not Shannen and Alyssa's so-called feud, which I'll always think was just spin.
SILAS: The writers would really be able to ask the really deep questions on the characters won't they. Especially since they'd know what they wrote. As most of the actors can barely remember the show, I don't blame them. With the demanding hours and redoing the same scenes take after take, and most don't like to watch themselves on the show.
Those are some good questions you have here. If I ever see any of them doing any Q&A's, I'll be sure to rush here and post it, so others can be told about it when it will happen and the time, in case any here want to ask them some questions.
ES: I'm part of a group (we call ourselves Team Charmed Cafe) who have been re-watching Charmed together once a week on our DVDs since October 2018 to celebrate Classic Charmed's 20th anniversary - we're now on S3.
SILAS: That sounds so cool. I'm sure you all have fun re-watching the series together.
ES: That we definitely do. We even have one member (TooMuchCoffee) who's in Greece but who stays up late on what's Sunday night for her so she can be part of what's our Saturday evening (for North America) re-watch.
SILAS: That's so cool that you have so many dedicated members wanting to join and make it work to their timezone. I think the reboot airs on Sunday nights in America, which is when you guys do your re-watch on Sunday night right?
ES: That's cool. Classic Charmed is the only online fandom I've been part of. I joined when S5 was first airing.
SILAS:
Wow, I've never meet anybody who is only part of one online fandom before. Charmed really must be special to you, if its the only one.
ES: That it definitely is. And I think a lot of it has to do with so many things we'd like to see changed - if it was perfect, the threads would get boring. That's part of our fun of the re-watch - figuring out how we'd fix what we don't like - like having Piper end up with Jeremy, who's non-magical and Prue not having a boyfriend until she meets Cole...and Phoebe never having any until a special guy in S7 so she remains our Phoebs and not PhoeME.
SILAS: Yeah, I can imagine how boring it would be if, the show was too perfect. It's so cool that you use the re-watch to figure out hoe to fix what you don't like. Speaking of Jeremy, in my pilot review, I was so convinced Piper was going to be with Jeremy, who was non-magical and thought Andy was the warlock. So cool you used that idea, and paired Prue with Cole, who I'll have to wonder about why that is, when I get to the seasons/episodes when Cole is introduced, to see Prue and Cole interact.
ES: Most of us here think it is, but a lot of fans loved it. I think it's the perfect ending for "The Perils of Poor, Poor Pitiful Piper" (one of my names for S4-8 - the others are "PhoeME and Her Fantasy Men" and "Two Witches Plus One Living Whitelighter Equals The Power of Three?"), but not "Classic Charmed".
SILAS: I see. Yes, I'm sure even the most popular episode has some haters or the least popular has some lovers. But, that makes it more exciting to be a fan, as we all like different things.
ES: OH! If you feel that way, you're going to be a perfect member of the Cafe, because you're absolutely right about that.
SILAS:
ES: You'll have to come back and do that after you get a chance to watch all of them. Mine is 1=2>>3=7>>>5=8>>4>>>>6 which reflects me not liking PhoeME, Cole, or Chris.
SILAS: I will come back and update when I've seen them all.
ES:
SILAS:
-------------
SILAS: Very interesting list. I see the first three are your favorite.
ES: Well, actually it's the last half of S1 and the first half of S2 - the only time I love all three sisters. I didn't like Prue before it and I didn't like Piper after it, and I definitely don't like PhoeME starting in S3. Paige irritated me, but never as much as S3-8 Phoebe or S2-8 Piper. And like you, it was all about whether they were in a relationship or not.
SILAS: And with what you have shared with me, this makes so much sense.
----------------
ES: Whoops! We're definitely different so again you may want to take my recommendations with a grain of salt. Most of my favorites are in S1-2 and most of my least-favorites are in S4-8. For S4 & 5, my 5 favorites (in airing order) are:
1. A Knight to Remember
2. A Paige From the Past
3. The Eyes Have It
4. Cat House
5. Sense And Sense-Ability
SILAS: We are quite different. But, we both agree on A Paige From the Past and Cat House. I do like The Eyes Have It as well, I just didn't have it in my top five.
ES: Yeah, it was really hard to choose just 5. When people ask me for my 10 favorite episodes, I can't do it. I have to give them my 50 favorite episodes! Although my reactions keep changing as we continue our re-watch. Episodes I loved when I first watch bug me now and vice versa.
SILAS: That is interesting, I do wonder how I'll feel when I re-watch, but that won't be for a few years, since I still need to watch some for the first time.
But getting to season 4, I do wonder how I'll feel about it watching it follow from S1-S3.
--------------
SILAS: As for the other two, we'll have to agree to disagree on that. I'm hoping when I see more of S1-S3, I can add some of those to my list. But it is going to be so hard to do five, I'd likely end up doing give per season.
ES: Well, agreeing to disagree is perfectly AOK here, part of why I love it so much. And if you're anything like most of us, I wouldn't be surprised if you even find it tough to find 5 favorites and 5 least-favorites in each season!
SILAS: I won't be surprised, for some shows, I struggle to come up with ten, and some shows have just as many episodes if not more than Charmed, that I can't even go lower than 70.
ES: I won't do my least-favorites - too hard to do since there's too many I don't like, especially the entire PhoeME/Cole storyline, my least-favorite Classic Charmed storyline, which I assume you must like since Phoebe is your favorite. But that's no big deal here. We all agree that our opinions can be different and we can still be friends, since opinions aren't facts.
SILAS: I'm so very happy to hear that. That people are can have their opinions and be different but still be friends.
ES: If you see posts by anyone who is no longer a member, most of them are people who couldn't do that so they were banned. So the ones who are still here will never give you a bad time because your opinions don't agree with theirs. Some left on their own for some reason, but a lot of them were that way and then had their bad posts deleted - the only time posts are deleted.
SILAS: I'm sorry they couldn't be more fair, and had to be such a problem here. I'm glad they are not around, we don't need people like that at a board who give you a bad time for not agreeing with an opinion.
ES: I think most of my opinions are quite a bit different from most fans because I'm older than most fans - I'm 67 - I was 45 when I first stared watching Charmed and felt like Patty watching my daughters.
SILAS: That might be very true. You are watching through the eyes of someone like Patty's age, unlike the rest of fans who watched looking up to the sisters.
ES: *nods* Exactly so. Although now most of them are looking at the sisters through Patty's eyes, while I'm looking at them through Grams'! Although I'm not a manhater like Grams.
SILAS: Yes, I'm sure most of them are like that now. Speaking of Grams, I don't like Grams in season 5, but she was great in Charmed Again. No spoilers, but can you give me a little tease if she appears in S1 at all, just a yes or no. Thanks.
ES: WOW! We actually agree with a lot of these! Leo WAS my original favorite male character, until the end of S5 - I'll always wish Brian Krause had never signed his second contract, although now I wish he was only part of S1 as he originally was supposed to. I also hate the way Piper treats him - I truly don't think she ever really loved him as a whitelighter. See if you agree when you first meet him...I also love a number of characters in S1-2 and LOVE TO HATE a number of characters in them.
SILAS: How about that, we can agree on something after all.
ES: Hehehehe - it happens! And it's such fun when it does!
SILAS: It sure does.
-------------
SILAS: I don't know anything about the behind the scenes stuff from Charmed, like nothing (I don't like to get too involved in the personal lives of the cast and this goes for any show I like. I might be one of the few who has barely meet any famous people, I did once and the experience was bad, and it taught me to not really idolize the stars and just love the characters).
ES: Oh, I definitely agree with that. Unfortunately I did find out a lot about what was going on behind the scenes but I tried hard not to let it affect my feelings towards the characters.
SILAS: I'm glad it doesn't affect your feelings towards the characters. Some people just can't separate the two, and it ruins the show for them bigtime.
---------------
SILAS: But hearing that about Brian. I really wished he did not sign that second contract. I'm very interesting to see what I think of his arrival when I meet him. Also really looking forward to meeting some characters I haven't yet, and seeing how Cole is introduced. I do love him when I meet/saw him in S4, I just didn't like where it ended with him in season 5.
ES: *nods* Gotcha. I actually did like (never love) him in the beginning of S4, but when he turned evil (and I don't think he was possessed - possession is like what happened to Shane in Charmed Again Part One where a possessed Cole would've continued to try to kill Piper and Paige - just keep Phoebe until she had the baby - I think he became the Source because he'd rather be strong and evil than wimpy and non-magical (I don't call them mortals because the sisters are mortals - Prue proved that they can die.
SILAS: The show wasn't so clear on if he was possessed or not, because one episode I'm certain Cole spoke as if it was the Source talking wanting to use Cole's feelings to manipulate Phoebe. But, maybe that is a writing problem. Because, it felt like Cole the whole time otherwise.
But as you pointed out, it didn't seem like how it was with Shane. Cole didn't like being wimpy, and really missed his powers. I just didn't like where they took his character. I enjoyed him in the first half of season 4 so much more. Maybe he should have never gotten rid of Belthazor.
------------
SILAS: I wonder how my feelings for Leo will be, having started off watching later seasons, and hating him. I'm going to go into meeting him with low expectations, and hope like how I went in with Prue and came out loving her. The same mind-set might work with Leo. We shall see.
ES: I hope so. I wish his and Piper's relationship remained the way it was in S1. I think Piper would've been a lot better character if he was only part of S1 or if a certain episode which happens to be my favorite never happened...I'll let you know which one that is (it's an S2 episode) when you reach it.
SILAS: So far, she is already so much more fun and interesting without Leo after two episodes in S1. Looking forward to seeing Leo introduced, and how their relationship starts off like. Thanks, looking forward to finding out what that episode is from S2, when I reach it.
--------------
ES: Speaking of, curiosity. Are you going to watch an episode a week like we're doing or one a day or are you ever going to do your own marathon? I used to marathon S1-3 when those were the only DVDs I had.
SILAS: One episode a day I'm aiming for, unless I'm busy (But if it is a two-part episode I might be tempted to watch two episodes back-to-back.).
--------------
ES: Later a friend won the Book of Shadows DVD Collection (all 8 seasons) and let me have her older copies, so I took S4, S5 and S8. She didn't have the S7 (the other one I wanted) and I didn't want S6. I only got S8 for the bonus features. I've yet to re-watch any of those episodes since they first aired - just have no desire to do so. If our re-watch goes all the way to S8, then I will, but not until/unless.
SILAS: What a cool friend you have. So cool you got to the one with the bonus features. But, I get why you'd want that for the extras.
I'm interested to see if the re-watch goes all the way to S8. I'm even more interested to find out, if it does, if you'll go back and r-watch S1 all over again.
ES: That's not a shock to me at all. I don't like any of the actual couples on Classic Charmed except for the one Paige finds in S8. I prefer Piper with someone she meets in S1 (definitely not Leo), Prue with someone she meets in S2 (obviously not Andy) and Phoebe with someone she meets in S7 (definitely not Cole!). (trying not to spoil!)
SILAS: Thank you for not spoiling. It makes me more interesting to meet these guys.
ES:
And again I'll let you know when you reach them.
SILAS: Thanks.
----------
ES: For me, the best relationships are the ones that are short-lived...when the guy is only part of a few episodes and not a few seasons - and when the sister is still the star, not the guy.
SILAS: That sounds perfect to me.
The show is about the sisters who are the stars, this isn't an ensemble show where the guys can be co-equals.
ES: We've got a lot of fanfics in our Library. Once you're done watching/re-watching, I hope you decide to give some of them a try.
SILAS: I look forward to checking those out when I'm done watching/re-watching. Unless after I finish S1, there are fanfics that only are for season 1 only, not giving any plots away for season 2 and beyond, I might give that a try. But, I feel like there won't be any fanfics based on the first season only, that don't spoil the next seasons.
ES: Hmmm...I'd have to check and see if there are any like this. I'm afraid that most of them would spoil. Of course once you get to S4, then you could read the ones that have Prue alive.
SILAS: Thank you for checking, but once I get to S4, then yes, I can read the ones with Prue alive.
I'm somewhat mad my friend made me start with S4, and not S1. I'd wonder how I'd react having no idea Prue dies. But, It hasn't affected my watching at all, I forget about her fate as I watch. But Paige did slip in the head in the pilot here and there, but once I got to episode 2, I was in the zone on these sisters.
-------------
SILAS: But, I want to watch the show first, so fanfics really should be something in the far future, or I'll get side-tracked form finishing my first full journey.
ES: LOL, you're probably right about that! I first discovered fanfics in S7 when I lost my mom and was looking for something to distract me. Found some S6 ones that did the trick and actually made me like Chris. Now I still hate him as portrayed by Drew Fuller, but love him in a lot of fanfics.
SILAS: I'm so glad that helped you be distracted. So cool, that fanfics can make you like a character more than the show. Fanfic writers can be so talented. I wonder how I'll feel about Chris in S6, who my friend is dying for me to meet and watch S6. I stopped at Necromancing the Stone, and never got to finish off the last two of S5, when I joined here and was recommended to start at S1.
ES: Have never watched either. All of my favorite witch-themed shows were in the 60s and 70s, especially "Dark Shadows" and "Bewitched". What do you like about the reboot, which I call the rip-off - I SO wish they'd named it something besides "Charmed"!
SILAS: And I have never seen either, must be a generation thing. I heard Dark Shadows might get a reboot, but I'm not sure if it is actually happening.
ES: That would be cool, but I probably wouldn't like it. They'd probably make it horror and I don't like horror. The original one that I watched was in black-and-white and not that scary. They did some movies in color and I ran out of the theatre screaming!
SILAS: For someone like yourself who hates horror, I'm sure you won't like modern day scares, because the HD and special effects makes it seem way too real.
So cool you have memories of it in black-and-white. Have you ever had a chance to revisit Dark Shadows all these years later?
-----------------
SILAS: As I mentioned above, I love Harry, and he is so much more interesting than Leo. He is treated better by the sisters than how Leo was. I also like their half sister/half-demon, she has her witch powers. One thing about Paige, I never got, why she had no witch powers, but it worked differently. I wished she had orbing and all of Prue's powers as they were.
ES: That's exactly what I would've wanted Paige to have, too. I never counted her so-called hybrid power as a hybrid, just a whitelighter version of Prue's TK. It's why I say she was the first living whitelighter. A Charmed One, yes, since she was descended from Melinda Warren and had the power to move thing with her mind, and she could make potions and cast spells, but never had any witch-powers, just a ton of whitelighter powers, which I thought should've been left to the true whitelighters who had earned their wings rather that just being the daughter of someone who had. I think it's the worst mistake made on Charmed, but again, that's just me.
SILAS: Yes, Leo earned his wings, and Paige didn't. I'm surprised the half-sister didn't have a father who wasn't a whitelighter. Since watching Charmed Again, I learned Patty had an affair with her whitelighter Sam. But what I'm confused with, was he appeared to died or disappeared, and came back in Sam I Am (maybe I wasn't paying attention, but I think I'm missing a S1-S3 episode somewhere). Whitelighters can die or a Darklighter killed him, because Piper was confused in the episode that Sam was back, too. Hopefully S1-S3 touch on Sam, because I'm kind of finding the whole Sam plot confusing.
----------------
SILAS: One thing I didn't like in Season 4 and 5 was how often Paige orbs. Orbing seemed to be used so much, I lost count on how many premonitions Phoebe really had or how many times Piper froze.
-----------------
SILAS: I also liked how they did their Elders compared to Charmed: Classic. Who were all women, and they were more like Elder Witches. Although the Elders are a dying bread, with only one surviving now.
ES: Yeah, Kern really did a bad job making the show so male-centric once he took over. in S3.
SILAS: It did show in S4 and S5 with Cole and Leo with what I had seen. But so far in S1, It feels more centric to the sisters, the real stars.
-----------------
SILAS: Now, this current season arc I'm so going to be glad when its over, and from the spoilers I read move onto something else.
ES: That seems to be what a lot of fans think.
SILAS:
-------------------
SILAS: So far, I'm shocked that their mother hasn't appeared as a ghost like Grams and Patty have at all. She's only been used in flashbacks or in an alternate timeline or a hologram she created with a spell before her death that she left for when the sisters found the secret room. Seeing season 5, I don't like how Grams pops in like she is visiting from out of town corporal and hugging the sisters, it takes me out of the fact that she's dead.
ES: YAY! AGAIN something we can agree on. I thought the ghosts should've only been corporeal for very special reasons like weddings and wiccanings, especially when Prue couldn't appear. It took away a lot of the drama, knowing that if someone died, they could very easily come back.
SILAS: I agree 100% with all of this.
--------------
ESMERALDA: Never watched Xena or Supernatural or the original Walker, but absolutely LOVE true crime shows - "Forensic Files" is my favorite, followed by "48 Hours" and a bunch of shows on the Investigative Discovery Cable Channel. I haven't been interested in any new broadcast-channel show (except sports...) or ones online since Classic Charmed.
SILAS: Me too, I love Forensic Files and 48 Hours. I'm into that kind of thing.
ES: YAY! Something else we can agree on! Believe it or not, I go to sleep every night listening to "Forensic Files' even though I've seen each episode many, many times. I just love Peter Thomas' voice. The one they have on "Forensic Files II" just doesn't measure up!
SILAS: That's so cool you do that. Speaking of, I'm wanting to watch another "Forensic Files' later this week.
----------------
SILAS: I'm a little shocked you haven't liked anything since Classic Charmed for twenty years. But from what I've learned about you, given your age, It makes sense. Since you grew up and loved stuff in the 60s and 70s, so it's hard for you to get into something modern. Especially with storytelling being different now.
ES: Exactly so. I don't find current comedies funny and too many of the dramas scare me. I've started watching shows, but I usually either get bored by them or scared by them - some of my least-favorite Charmed episodes are ones that scared me.
SILAS: Now I know horror and scary is not your cup of tea. I'm sure some S4 episodes scared you.
-----------
ES: Also, back when I was young, children on TV respected their parents who always knew what was best, and bad guys were never the heroes. The good was always good and the bad was always bad and never the twain shall meet! Even watching, I knew that wasn't what it was like in the real world, but I didn't care. I could forget about the outside world and just enjoy the fantasy. That's just not the case anymore, and to me, it makes it seem like it's all right to be evil and I could never agree with that!
SILAS: They do have a habit of having children not respect their parents on television these days. Yes, I have seen that they try to make viewers feel for the bad guys now where they are more anti-hero and grey.
I have turned off some shows because I'm not interested in hearing about American political discussions, and I'm glad the reboot of Charmed put a stop to Trump talk fairly early into S1. Sorry but you'll lose your fans outside of America fast, if you keep throwing politics into a show (it will date shows in a few years). I watch shows to escape the outside world. I just hope COVID-19 isn't going to be added to shows, unless it is a medical drama (which I'd understand). Sorry, to be side-tracked, but you mentioning wanting to enjoy the fantasy and forget the outside world, made me think of this.
-----------
ES: I'll admit that back then there were a lot of very bad stereotypes and I wish that had not been the case. But I know better now and just figure that's what was, not what is.
SILAS: Yeah, you kind of have to just accept the time period the show or movie was made. So many cult classics from decades ago, suddenly now people see they are bad stereotypes and demanding they be taken off streaming or removed. But you can't suddenly make it go away as if it didn't exist like Gone With the Wind, I think it won 10 Oscars and was the highest-grossing movie of all time, but you'd know better than me, if this is true. Gone With The Wind got pulled from streaming, and my mother was upset, she loves that movie, but knows it is dated and might have bad stereotypes, but it was part of her childhood.
ES: And I'm a straight never-married never-had-kids female.
SILAS:
It must be fun to enjoy all the freedom that comes with never being married or having kids. I hope you at least have lots of nieces and nephews to keep you busy. You remind me of my uncle who is 72, and never had children or married. He loves being everyone's favorite uncle (including mine).
ES: Yup. I'm the oldest of six and the only one not married. I have 12 nieces and nephews, 3 grandnephews and one grandniece. And, oh, yes, I'm their favorite little old auntie!
SILAS: So happy to hear that. Just like my uncle being the favorite aunt or uncle. On my fathers side (my dad is the youngest of eight), my unmarried uncle is the second oldest 72, their oldest sister (my aunt) is 75. I have five uncles and two aunts on my dads side. On my mothers side, she just has one older brother, who didn't get married until he was 40 to his now wife who was 38 at the time. My uncle on my mothers side had his first child at 47. (He is currently 61 and his only son and my cousin is 14 now.)
--------------
ES: You're right - I love the freedom to do what I want to do how I want to do it when I want to do it! I love just spending the money I've earned the way I want to spend or save it. I've been in love a number of times, so I know what it's like, and, honestly, I prefer being single!
SILAS: So happy that you are happy with how you live your life. At least you have been in love and know what it's like, I feel sorry for someone to go their whole life single truly alone until they die.
--------------
ES: Like I told you before I'm over 55 - I'm 67.
SILAS:
ES: So very sorry to hear that, but ultra-cool that you're a dad! I work in the office of a wholesale florist. It's counted in Minnesota as essential, so I've been able to work through the pandemic, although I had my hours cut from 40 to 30 a week. But that's SO much better than nothing!
SILAS: Thanks. Yes, have a three year old, and its not as hard as I thought. But then, since I have a younger sibling who has a disability, and have been taking care of them when my parents couldn't, I'm used to being responsible.
ES: ULTRA-cool! My baby brother (he's 53 but he'll always be my baby brother, the way my baby sister who's 56 will always be my baby sister. I also have a big brother who's actually a year younger than me but seems older, and a middle sister who's 64 and middle brother who's 60, so yes, we go girl, boy, girl, boy, girl, boy. Had one of my nieces and one of my nephews been the opposite sex, my 12 nieces and nephews from 4 different families - middle brother has his dog as his kid - would've done the same thing!) has a son who has cerebral palsy, along with a daughter who doesn't. My brother thinks raising his disabled son is easier than raising his daughter! My baby brother is divorced, raising them alone, and he's my hero!
Oh, man! Rereading that is confusing ME! So if it's confusing you, don't worry about it, okay?
SILAS: No that isn't confusing at all. So happy for your baby brother, he sure sounds like a hero to me.
I'm one of five. I have two older siblings and two younger sibling. So I'm truly the middle child right in the middle of the others. So maybe that is why I'm really enjoying Piper so much in season 1, I feel just like her as the middle sibling.
It goes my older sister (36), my older brother (32), Me (28), my younger sister (25) and my youngest brother (22). My older brother is married with twin girls, and my older sister is married for four years no children. My younger sister is single, but working towards becoming a dentist.
It's funny how, I didn't feel like Phoebe in S4 or S5 as the middle sister (even if I enjoyed her character), but then I remembered she wasn't born the middle, she was only the middle because her sister Prue died and Paige came into her life. So she is the baby of the family. But, now, it has changed my perspective a little, with seeing S1. I never thought about this at all, and maybe got too used to how it was, until I saw S1.

SILAS: I'm so glad you still have work, and yes, that is better than nothing. I didn't know a wholesale florist was counted as essential. I'm not sure if it is where I am.
ES: It's counted as essential since it has to do with stuff that grows and could die if not tended, just like farmers and florists. At first we weren't sure if they'd be counted that way, which was pretty scary for someone living alone, but, thank God, the government decided it was.
SILAS: I'm so glad the government counted it. It would be scary for you especially to not have a living.
--------------
SILAS: My partner works for the post office, and that is considered essential here (as I'm sure it is everywhere in the world, or I hope so, since it is important if people need medicine mailed). But the workload is getting to be so much, as now with everybody in lockdown or not working during the pandemic, the mail and parcels have increased by 50%, if not more. It's like Christmas every week.
ES: WHOA! I hadn't thought about that, but it sure makes sense. Hope it doesn't wear your partner out so they get sick.
SILAS: I hope it doesn't either, and can't wait until things calm down, and we get past COVID.
ES: The United States of America - to be precise, Minneapolis, Minnesota.
SILAS: How cool. I've been to America before. Is Nebraska anywhere near Minneapolis, Minnesota by any chance. I have an online friend who lives there.
ES: I've taken a bus to Omaha, Nebraska before and that took 10 hours, so it's not really close, but it is in the same general area. Iowa is south of Minnesota and Nebraska is just west of Iowa if that helps you at all. We're farther north than Nebraska - we share our northern border with Canada.
SILAS: Thank you for those useful facts. So many states to remember, I'm sure.
-------------
SILAS: I've only visited New York, New Orleans and Austin, Texas in America.
ES: Well, I've never been out of the United States, so you're doing better than me. I've been to a number of states, but not all of them yet.
SILAS: Yes, I have been to America, Italy and Fiji. I hope you'll get a chance to leave the United States one day, if not, I hope you'll get to tick off all the states at least in America.
ESMERALDA: It was originally the message board for a site called "The Charmed Ones", which was mention on TheWB.com during the original airing of S5, which is when I joined. The message board was an ezBoard site. When they closed, this one became the message board and when "The Charmed Ones" closed, it became its own site.
SILAS: That's so cool. You have been a member in the Charmed fan community for nearly twenty years. Will you be doing any celebrations for your big 20 when the times comes and reflect on your time.
ES: Wow, I hadn't realized that I'm coming close to my 20th! When we re-watch S5 (wish I could remember what was my first episode...I just know I was a bad girl and read the spoilers at thecharmedones.com and knew that "Prudence Melinda" was going to be "Wyatt Matthew" before he was born, so it was early S5.
SILAS: I wonder how you'd have felt if you didn't know going into the episode.
------------
ES: I'll have to think about how I want to celebrate, or if I should...I'll have to check with Assassin Witch and Astral Echo and see if they're going to do anything.. They were already part of the Cafe when i joined.
SILAS: I hope you do something. So cool to learn they have been around here for that long. I'm guessing lots of members are long gone from here.
--------------
SILAS: I'm really thrilled the board has been around this long.
ES: Me, too. There's been times when there was hardly anyone posting and I really thought the Cafe was going to die, but it's always come back, usually thanks to new members who join. And I do think the rip-off, pardon me, the reboot, has helped build an interest in Classic Charmed.
SILAS: I'm so glad it is active here, or it does when new members join. I can see how it might get less active, especially if the older members have nothing new to discuss, if you rehash the same old discussions over and over. That's when new members can make it interesting again, with new discussions or new takes or views.
ES: I'm VERY curious to see what you'll think when you're done watching/re-watching. Mine is a) but only S1 & S2.
SILAS: I look forward to sharing my thoughts.
