#5 Introduction Thread

Thanks for the welcome. As I continue to (re)watch the show, I will be coming on here to discuss it.

Hey y'all! I'm Miles! I've been watching Charmed since I was 4 (according to my mom I was with her when the first episode premiered, so I've watched it pretty much my entire life!)


Age: 27


Favorite Charmed character and why: It has varied, but Phoebe has pretty much been my favorite character since I was a kid and is definitely my favorite as an adult! I pretty much modeled my entire personality after her. I just always felt drawn to her passion for everything she throws herself into. When she wants something she's not afraid to go for it, and almost obsesses over it to a fault. I was also raised as the "youngest" and was also the free spirit. I just feel like she gets it lol.


Prue was my favorite as a tween
Piper was my favorite when I was pre-teen.
Paige was my favorite as a full blown teenager.
So they all have levels depending on what stage of my life I was in.

Favorite Season: Season 1! When I was younger and my mom and I couldn't afford internet, I bought Season 1 so I could watch it. I kept it on all the time, and I pretty much have it memorized!


Favorite Episode: "Which Prue is it Anyway?", "Oh my Goddess (Part 1 and 2)", and "Chick Flick". STAPLES YALL.


Other shows you watch: Buffy, X-files, Twin Peaks, The Haunting (franchise), Doctor Who, Riverdale, etc.

I too love season 1 because it was the start of Charmed and just for the general overall feel of the show then concerning plotlines and characters and because Connie Burge was in charge.

But I want to update the questionnaire. Something I forgot to add and or correct/update.

1. How long have you been a Charmed fan?

My Charmed journey starts when the show originally aired. I remember it so well. It was during May of 1999.

I sat down to make sure that I would tape a show for a friend to not miss an episode of a show called "Charmed". My plan was to sit for a minute, make sure the VHS was taping what it was supposed to be taping and move on to more important things in my night.

But clearly fate had other ideas for me.

And thus I began this insane journey of Charmed, and got hooked almost immediately.  The episode that was playing was From Fear to Eternity. I instantly loved Prue and Phoebe's relationship. I ended up rooting for Prue to defeat the Demon of Fear (that's what he was called in this one). 

I couldn't wait for the episodes to air in New Zealand. After finishing S1, I was upset that I couldn't see the next one until the following year. I was born and raised in Chicago until aged 11. So my parents would get our family back home to send me VHS tapes (Remember VHS ) of Charmed (and other shows). And that was my Christmas present for 1999. I was crying so much.

I know my friends at school were so jealous of me. Getting to see the second season of Charmed ahead of them, they begged me to let them come on over so we could all watch it. 

I continued to get express packages with VHS tapes sent to me every month. So I continued to keep up with Charmed (and other shows I liked). For my 19th birthday in 2005, I was gifted the First Season of Charmed on DVD.

D fits me more. 

4. How long have you been in the online fandom?


Fall 1999, at the age of 13.


5. How do you feel about the finale and the way the show ended? (a) loved it, (b) liked it, (c) had mixed feelings, (d) disliked it, (e) hated it?

Disliked it. It was just so predictable. That is not how I'd end the series. I rolled my eyes that they used time travel as a way to fix things. Coop's ring used to allow Piper to save Phoebe and Paige. Give me a break. It was way too crowded with extra characters. The Billie and Christy story I disliked. It was such an afterthought. All that build-up, and it ended on a predictable note. 

I was much more impressed with Something Wicca This Way Goes. At least that episode, kept me on the edge of my seat. The plot was more compelling. Am I a bad fan for not sheading a single tear in Forever Charmed.

Don't write at all. I don't have the time and energy for that. I love fanfics, but more non-Charmed ones.

It comes down to just me not having found too many I particularly like. I have read some though.

I'm dying to find more virtual seasons for Charmed that is set in the earlier seasons or rewriting the series. I find so many for non-Charmed shows, but not too many for Charmed. And that is what really gets me excited.

Favorite Charmed character and why:

When I was a kid my favorite was Phoebe, because in the beginning she was the only one excited to be a witch and I couldn't understand how Piper and Prue didn't share her enthusiasm:) (though now that I'm older, I understand them a little better)
Then it was Prue, because I thought she had the coolest power.
Later it was Piper, because I loved her arc in season 4, when she's dealing with the loss of Prue. Also, because I had a crush on Leo too lol.
And then Paige, probably because I loved Rose McGowan in Jawbreaker as a teen. And also because she was an artist in her teens/early twenties but stopped because she was a perfectionist who wouldn't do art unless she can dedicate herself to it completely - something I can definitely relate to.
I still adore all four of them, but the one who was consistently my favorite (as in, a character I loved from beginning to end) was Prue. Probably because she was there for three seasons only and was killed off before the bad writing got to her too, but I digress. I love Prue in all three seasons that she's in and I love her character development. I might change my mind when I rewatch the series but I think that she's the most well-rounded character in the show.
Phoebe is my second favorite, I loved her throughout seasons 1-3 and 7. This is probably not an unpopular opinion, but I really dislike how at one point her character started revolving around Cole. If it wasn't for that, she would undoubtedly be the only number one. Phoebe's compassion, bravery, willingness to try new things, openness to magic and change makes her instantly likable to me. Now I'm the same age as she was at the beginning of the show and taking a gap year in university, and watching her coming back to college after taking a break is oddly comforting:)
I love Prue and Phoebe's relationship and how it grew from seasons 1 to 3. I love fiction that focuses on sibling relationships, especially mending the ones that are broken.
Another character I adore is Penny Halliwell. I see traits of all the Charmed Ones in herself. And I love how dedicated she was to witchcraft and her legacy.

Favorite Season:
I'm currently rewatching the show so my opinion might change once I finish, but right now my favorites are season 1, 2 and the first half of season 4.

Do you read and/or write fanfiction? Any particular type?: Write. Charmed Next Gen. The only fanfictions I can currently remember reading and enjoying are two series of fanfictions. One, and my all-time favorite, is a series of HP fanfictions written by The Fictionist: Past’s Player (discontinued), Fate’s Favorite (complete), and Destiny’s Darling (complete). The second is a series of Xena The Warrior Princess fanfictions written by Red Hope: Fight For Hope, Coming Together, and First Adventure; there was a fourth taking place before those three, but I wasn’t a fan.



Other shows you watch: Legacies, Word of Honor, and Once Upon a Time.



Are you a fan of any other witch themed shows?: The Vampire Diaries/The Originals/Legacies, Once Upon a Time, and I kind of want to try Chilling Adventures of Sabrina again.
