How, by the dead gods of Krypton, did Witchstock get as many votes as it has? One of the worst episodes EVER!
I don't get it.

Tim, it still adds depths to Grams' character and her past. Yes, there's a lot of cringe-worthy stuff, and yes, time and character age have no logic in this episode, but it tells us more about Grams' past than any other episode. And other than the Necromancer episode, it's probably the only Grams-centric episode. So I guess I can see how it's gotten as high a vote count in this thread as it has.

In a lot of season six episodes, the plot is inconsistent but there are interesting dialogues and situations In Witchstock, Leo, Chris and Grams are an humorous trio

Well, for one thing, there is no smegging way that Grams was that young in 1967! Were the writers so coked up one whatever they were clearly smoking that they thought the fans wouldn't notice that Grams in this episode was about twenty years too young.
Well, guess what Kern and Co., we did notice, and we called you out on it. Ha! We fans were not as stupid as you seemed to think we were.
Rumour has it that it was originally Patty that was supposed to be the hippi child here, that makes sense, Patty would have been the correct age in 1967. However, Finola Hughes was not available. Why they didn't just abandon this script when they couldn't get Finola baffles me to no end. Was this the best script they had that week? If I was, then I shudder to think about what the other scripts were like!
And the depiction of the hippy culture... Typical Charmed, go right for the stereotypes, instead of trying to portray things as they really were. I guess doing research would have been too much like work.
And why would Grams still be acting hippi like even if Allen didn't die. The hippies eventually grew up. One hippi would one day become President Of The United States, and his wife would later become Secretary Of State, and may be running for President herself this year. You don't reach such positions by being a dooby smoking pot head.
Why is 1967 Leo bumming around the Manor? What about his charges? Would the Elders really have allowed this?
And the villains of this episode, well, pathetic would be a step up for them. What the hell was Robin's motivations here. And how about how she died, slipped on some marbles. Repeat after me: Scooby Dooby Doo!
And the Warlock who's name I can't be bothered to remember. Did you know that this would be the last time a Warlock would appear on Charmed? They started out so strong and to end on this.... Sad, just sad.
I'm sorry, but you can't polish a turd. No matter how much you wash it, it's still a turd. And Witchstock was a HUGE turd.
My sincere apologies to Scooby Doo for associating him with this horrible episode.

The thread is about Grams not around a favorite episode
Wwitchstock has many faults, it has been said and repeated, though the episode, beyoynd the young Penny and Alles's story, has the merit to put together Gramas,Leo and Chris in a fun entertaining encounter in which Grams's personality dominates effortlessly
It is one of the most revealing episodes of the bond that Penny is able to create in her family, just see the joyful smile that she is able to get out of Chris when she bigs him up

Im going to rewatch Witchstock. As a big Grams fan. I had issues with it mostly the 1967 stuff. I always place it as my *least* favorite Grams episode.
But *I* want to go into it and appreciate that adult Grams material.
Much like Cheaper by The Coven. I love Grams, Patty and Victor and the family moments. Especially the deeper ones between Victor and Patty and Grams and Pipers deep talk about loosing Prue and Patty.
I see some people missed my other comments to go along with discussing favorite Grams episodes in my first post:
What was your standout moment with Grams?
Favorite Grams/granddaughter/s moment?
What ones does everything here pick dears?

I voted taking into account Grannycharmed's hints so I chose Charmed again - never be forgotten Grams that curtly asks Phoebe to improvise a spell - and Witchstock - equally unforgettable Grams who takes command of the situation, sends her granddaughters in the past and straightens Chris up

That 70s Episode (probably Grams at her best) and Witchstock (this is based on Grams, not the episode itself being beloved).
As much as I liked Grams, I hated that she continued to appear corporal and took the fun out of death. It was like Grams was coming over for coffee. She shouldn't have appeared like this, unless it was a special occasion.
What was your standout moment with Grams? Will do later.
Favorite Grams/granddaughter/s moment? Will do later.

Where voting for what Grams content not how we feel about episodes. So Witchstock gets my vote for the hilarious Grams present day story. Obviously my second vote goes to That 70s Episode. My favorite and only time I loved Grams in the whole episode.

There are actually more than just two episodes I liked with Grams, but I chose Charmed Again and Necromancing the Stone.
What was your standout moment with Grams? I loved when she asked the Inspector if he was going to shoot them all in Forever Charmed, and when she started the spell finished by Phoebe sending him to Timbuktoo. Also, I loved her quizzing her granddaughters in That 70's episode.
Favorite Grams/granddaughter/s moment? Probably the Necromancing the Stone one, when she vanquishes the Necromancer.

I'd say any episode not past Season 4. There are no Grams appearances where she's likable at all past season 4, much like Piper and Phoebe Grams got it worst of the supporting cast. In fact I grew to hate Grams as much as Piper and Phoebe rewatching the show and see where a lot of their relationship problems came from. Going from just helping in secret appearing mainly through past events or in Seasons 3-4 case an advice ghost with limited screentime. That 70's episode was the perfect showcase of Grams because you got to see all the layers of her character. How she raised them as little girls with them having their powers etc.
I loved the scene where they all sit on the couch while Patty and Grams test them to figure out if they are the girls with Grams with her chuckling over how beautiful the girls turned out to be and her reaction to being "dead" in the future. I really enjoy the scenes where she interacts with Patty as you see the best sides and flaws of her character.
In Seasons 5-8 Grams barely has a character at all, outside of her wearing out her welcome in "being dead" I hated her misandrist personality. Almost every plot or scene involved her making jokes or jabs at men for little reasons other than they needed "jokes about how men are evil" Witchstock showcasing the worst of Grams personality.
I hated that scene where she shouts at Piper for letting Paige and Phoebe move out with her infamous line "Men are utensils you use them, wash them, throw them in a drawer until you need them again" or the way she treats Victor in "Cheaper by the Coven" her dismissal of his opinions regarding the well-being of the girls just because of his gender and the fact he has no powers. Then she ditches helping entirely simply because Patty chose Victor's solution to solve the problem. Or in Forever Charmless, that look of disgust on her face when Piper tells her Paige marries a mortal.
In short the best grams episodes are one's where she's just the advice ghost or when their past is explored she is the main matriarch to the three sisters. That 70's Episodes and the end of Witch Trial has the best of Grams, while Witchstock and Cheaper By the Coven have her at her worst.

Saw a post online saying its Grams' birthday and she'd be 93 if she were alive today. So decided to bump this thread up.
Turns out I didn't post it it but voted lol I picked 70s and Pre Witched.
