Favorite Charmed Sister

Hard to vote, since I'd have to break down the sisters even more than just separating them into S1-3 and S4-8.

So It is hard to vote and why I won't vote for anybody according to this poll, except Prue because she had fewer seasons and overall was the easiest person to vote for. Still, it wouldn't be a true indication of my feelings since I didn't like her in late S3.

Piper is hands down my favorite. The heart of the family and the best powers.

One thing that never changed about her was her being “antsy”. It’s been said her blasting power is activated by anger and her freezing power by fear but as demonstrated in the first few episodes she has blasting, it could be used both interchangeably by being jumpy.

She is the most powerful halliwell pre-Wyatt as she is the only sister that could vanquish a bad guy in one shot with her power.

I love how they tie in her cooking skills to being the potions master.

Piper will never be a favorite (except as my favorite sister in S5 - can't stand PhoeME and Ditzy Valley Girl in that one and and as long as you don't count 'Oh, My Goddess!' when I hated Poor, Poor Pitiful Piper the most and that I always count as part of Season 6) for a lot of reasons, especially with how she treated Leo, but I can see your points. If she'd never married or had kids, she'd probably be my favorite, but a Halliwell (not a Matthews...) in love is not a nice person, a legacy from being raised by Grams.

The sisters vary in early seasons. In seasons 1 & 2 you almost couldn't say there was a best or worst sister in an objective sense. If I had to pick specifically from my perspective I'd say Season 1 Prue, Season 2 Phoebe and Season 3 Piper. With Season 1 Prue she obviously had a lot of mellowing out to do, going from being cold and cutoff, to more approachable and opening up. Them becoming witches was exactly what she needed to become closer to her sisters again and become more understanding toward the other two.

Phoebe, Phoebe, Oh Phoebe. She was the most developed of the three in Seasons 1 & 2. Not only was she a lot of fun to watch, but her need to constantly want to help innocents, embracing the craft the most (even if it meant going a bit overboard with personal gain at times) was always a joy to see. She'd always make an effort to be a witch first before doing anything else. In fact it never seemed like she didn't want to do anything else but be witches, even in situations where they were cornered (Wicca Envy she was the most willing to want their powers back) or how she would coach the other two whenever they had doubts (her speech to Prue in Witch Trial and to Piper in How to Make a Quilt out of an American) that's why it was also shocking to see her future self in Morality Bites be executed for killing someone.

Season 2 had Phoebe at her best, not only was she into more spells (even personal gain ones) but having her relationship repaired with Prue and developing more into her witch side made her more involved helping innocents. Then Season 3 comes around and all she revolves around is obsessing over Cole, completely losing her carefree nature. Even outright endangering innocents or ignoring her duties simply because Cole had to be her sole priority. There's a reason Pre-Cole Phoebe and Post-Cole Phoebe are two different people.

Season 3 Piper was also a lot of fun. Don't get me wrong mousy Piper from Season 1 was fun as well, but Season 3 Piper struck a balance between mousy, but growing more assertive and yes a bit aggressive toward Leo, well her situation with Leo I should say. However I find Piper slowly growing more aggressive a lot of fun since it allowed her to be more of her own person and not always have to be mediator, especially since by Season 3 they all were so close you didn't need one anymore. Excluding her scenes with Leo in the later parts of the season Piper being more assertive lead to some funny mannerisms. Piper I felt grew the most this season, especially with PhoeME being born and is all about Cole and Prue being a hardcore demon hunter. (Though I still like Badass Prue) It should be worth noting that all the sisters are equally good in the first three seasons (except for Phoebe in Season 3) so I can see the debates go in any direction. 

In Seasons 4-8 though you almost have to choose Paige by necessity. This is pretty objective. I mean Piper was good in Season 4, growing pains over Prue, learning to accept Paige and taking over at the oldest sister. However Paige was more consistent in Season 4 due to Piper not believing her about Cole during the later half (though slowly coming to it in the last third) and PhoeME just being completely terrible in this season. By Seasons 5-8 though Paige without a doubt wins, she's the only one who cared about witchcraft and saving innocents by this point. She's also the only sister with any interesting subplots (the temp job thing was stupid though) she pretty much became Pre-Cole Phoebe, where she'd obsess over magic and want to help people. Paige also had the most layered character of the sisters, being from a different family and part whitelighter there was more to do with her.

I liked all of them in the first two seasons, even though they all had their flaws. Prue was too judgmental and bossy in parts of season 1, but I still enjoyed her character. The same with Phoebe being too flighty in that season. Piper was perfect in season 1.

Season 2 saw Piper becoming a bit less likable, but overall still good. I think Prue and Phoebe were both at their best in season 2. Prue had loosened up and was coming a bit more into herself and who she was outside of a caretaker to the family, and Phoebe still had her spark while growing up enough to go back to school.

Phoebe turned into quite an idiot around Cole in season 3, whether we're talking about before she knew he was a demon or after. Piper was less likable than any time previously here, but still not bad. Prue went a little overboard in demon hunting and changing from who she was at the beginning, becoming more reckless and losing a bit of her natural poise.

I liked Piper in season 4. She was less obnoxious than in season 3 overall, and I liked her bonding with Paige. Phoebe was likable in the first half, reminding me of who she was in season 2 at times. In the second half, Phoebe was awful. Paige was great in the whole season.

They all turned for the worse after this. Paige was the least offensive, but that's only because Piper and Phoebe were so awful.

I liked each of them the best more towards the beginning of their time as their characters, with the exception being Piper in season 4 and Phoebe in the first half of season 4. But that was like a new beginning for the show, in a way.

I don't think Piper was less likable in season 2. Sure the Leo/Dan love triangle was just stupid. But as far as the core part of her character she was still mousy regarding her disposition. Plus Piper had some strong moments, particularly regarding her actions in Astral Monkey and Morality Bites. It was mainly how she interacted with Leo that was the problem and the drama surrounding the love triangle between them. 

While Piper becomes more aggressive in Season 3 and would doorway her personality in later seasons I still think she was grounded enough to be likable. I saw it as a way to break out of her mousy persona and become more assertive. Particularly her speech at the end of Once Upon a Time I really liked. It's mainly her interactions with Leo again, which began to peek into shrieking territory that would centralize her Season 5-8, however I found it justified in some cases (unlike later seasons) the Elders were also wrong in keeping him away from her. Plus her more emphasis on snark and her mannerisms were still pretty funny. 

I do agree that Piper was likable in Season 4 (some people seem to forget that) minus the moments where she's unwilling to believe Paige (which does get resolved at the end of Bite Me) Phoebe still bothered me in some parts during the first half (mainly her reaction to Prue's death) overall not entirely bad. The 2nd half though is another story. lol 

Paige had her moments of skewed priorites territory, but was still more grounded than Piper or Phoebe. Though I agree them being worse did make her likable in comparison.

Me too Sasha, since there's one season in all of them I don't like them.

I voted for Piper S1-S3, not quite my favorite, since it includes a part I don't like her in, but its close enough.
