Phoebe Moving out of the Manor

The three times Phoebe told Piper she was moving out, piper didn't like it one bit. Though she always said she was okay, her reactions each time proved otherwise First in season 4  "Saving Private Leo" when She said she and Cole were moving out, the second time was in Season 5 "Necromancing the Stone" when she asked piper what she though about intercontinental orbing.

In Season 6 "Chris Crossed" she finally agreed that both Paige and Phoebe needed to go live their lives but in Season 8 "Mr & Mrs Witch" when Phoebe told piper she was getting an apartment, piper got upset again. Not outwardly showing it but she left the room quickly with the kids and it was obvious. Was piper right to feel the way she did? The third time may have been hard on piper because she just had Leo taken from her. After that episode both Piper and Phoebe were walking on eggshells over the topic. In "Repo Manor" Piper was literally trying to stall Phoebe signing the loan docs. Must been Pipers way of worrying about phoebe. But she never worried as much about Paige leaving, even after she got married. But she did give Paige a little flack about it once in "Generation Hex".



Saving Private Leo

Phoebe: Okay, and I will call Cole and tell him no to the party. I guess I can tell him no to anything.

(She picks up the phone.)

Piper: What's that supposed to mean?

Phoebe: Nothing, nothing. Cole wants us to get our own place.

Paige: What, you mean move out?

Phoebe: Yeah, you know, like normal married couples do.

Piper: We didn't.

Phoebe: Yeah, but you're not normal.

Piper: Neither are you.

Phoebe: Look, I don't wanna fight about this, but I just don't like the feeling that sometimes I have to choose between my sisters and my husband.

Piper: It's not about that and you know it.

Phoebe: How long are we all gonna stay here? You know, another year? Another five years? Another fifty years? At what point do we move on with our lives and not let evil dictate with them?

Piper: You're right. Go to your party. We'll take care of the ghosts.

Phoebe: Uh, you hate me right now.

Piper: No, I don't.

Paige: Yes she does.

Piper: Look, we can talk about this later. Right now you need to go take care of your man and I need to take care of mine. It's as simple as that. We don't need the power of three to do this.

(Phoebe heads for the door.)

Paige: (to Piper) You know, I've got a bone to pick with you. Seeing as how you practically forced me to move in here

Necromancing the Stone

(They kiss again and Jason leaves. Phoebe grins.)

[Cut to the attic. Piper and Paige are looking out the window.]

Piper: Go on, go on.

(They quickly race to the centre of the room. Phoebe walks in.)

Paige: Well?

Phoebe: How do you guys feel about intercontinental orbing?

Piper: We'll, talk about that later. (Piper hands Phoebe a piece of paper.) Read.

Chris Crossed

Scene: Manor. Dining room. Phoebe and Paige are there. Piper walks in.]

Phoebe: Hey.

Piper: Hey.

Phoebe: What's going on?

(Piper sits down.)

Piper: Uh, well, I've been thinking.

Paige: Uh-oh. Does that mean I'm in trouble?

Piper: I think it's time we make some changes around here.

Phoebe: What kind of changes?

Piper: Like I think you should move to Hong Kong with Jason, and you should move in with Richard.

Paige: I never said I wanted that.

Piper: You didn't have to, the spell did that for you. And you too.

Phoebe: Well, we can't leave you alone, we have to stick together.

Piper: No, I know, believe me, I know. But you can't keep sacrificing your lives forever and neither can I. Mum did that, Grams did it and even Prue. And look what happened to them. It's not a legacy I want us to inherit.

Paige: What if it doesn't work out, us going our separate ways?

Piper: Well, we'll worry about it then

Phoebe: You sure about this?

Piper: Yeah, I am

Mr & Mrs Witch

Phoebe: Oh, we won't be doing this in another 30 years. They will.

Piper: I wonder where we'll be.

Phoebe: Well, my guess is you'll be sitting right there feeding your grandkids with Leo.

Piper: Let's hope so.

Phoebe: Piper, give yourself a break. It's going to take some time, you know. 43C300CF.JPGAnd you have to allow yourself that time.

Piper: Sounds like good advice. Did you have any for the twins?

Phoebe: Actually, I did. I suggested that she move out of the house, get her own space.

Piper: That's good advice. All right, buddy, let's go. What do you say? Watch your fingers, fingers, fingers. Come on, come on, come on. All righty.

Generation Hex

PHOEBE: Wow! Look at this spread!

(The dining room table is filled with lots of breakfast dishes.)

PAIGE: Yeah, it's something, isn't it.

(Paige quickly takes a seat at the table. Billie, Christy, Wyatt and Chris are already seated.)

PIPER: Oh, it's nothing. It's just kinda to wish Paige "bon voyage."

CHRISTY: (mutters) It's been like this all week.

PIPER: Besides, it's nice to have company again, you know, considering most people in my life are moving on or moving out.

PAIGE: (to Phoebe) I'm thinking she means us.

I'm not so sure if Piper was worried about Phoebe moving out - she was too busy feelings sorry for herself. The only time when I felt her pain was in Season Eight. For Phoebe to move out so soon after Leo was frozen was necessary so that the Book would have a place to be safe during 'Kill Billie, Vol 2', but showed how selfish and self-centered Phoebe had become.

Her not caring that much about Paige moving out (and I don't think she'd feel a thing about it if Phoebe hadn't at the same time) shows how very little she thought of Paige as a sister.

Don't forget when Phoebe told her sisters she was moving to New York. They weren't witches yet, and I don't think Prue cared, but Piper was upset by it. In that case, I think it was incredibly selfish of Phoebe to leave the day of Grams' funeral, so I really felt bad for Piper there.

It's a natural process, moving in or out, yet the Power of Three demands a close relationship until a next generation would be ready to take over. Still, with Piper I had the feeling she didn't know what she want. Out or not out, especially with Phoebe, yet it seemed to be easier with Paige though. Very weird here. You sometimes never knew what came next here.

I also think that Paige shouldn't have moved into the manor until later. I liked that the Halliwell's lived at home and Paige lived somewhere else.

Phoebe should have left if she wanted, but perhaps wait a few days. They barely had Grams in the ground before she took off. It was insensitive of both Prue and Phoebe to leave a very obviously upset Piper by herself the day of the funeral. Even if their relationship to each other was sour, there are better ways to handle a sensitive situation.

In response to the OP, I'm like Piper where I would miss somebody I lived with, for awhile, as well. Why is that a bad thing? Also, don't underestimate her sadness in Paige moving out, as well. She missed both of them, but I digress.

If anything I would have preferred Piper and Leo to move out over Phoebe, I would have loved if Phoebe was the one who stayed at the Manor, it would be very poetic. 

I agree, however, how selfish Phoebe became throughout the series, I absolutely hated the whole "Phoebe moving out" and "wanting a baby" storylines, especially when they already had Phoebe pregnant, if they wanted Phoebe to be a mother they should have continued the storyline of The Sources Heir with the twist being that what they thought was a boy was actually a girl, she is the twice-blessed child however my definition would be that she is blessed from both sides her demonic and witch side.

Then the Crone could have been the big bad of season five. 

I think Piper does care about Paige but you're correct with Piper not caring about Paige moving out and how it looks like Piper doesn't think of Paige as a sister.

I didn’t really watch season 8. I mean, I think I might have seen a few episodes, if only because I do vaguely remember wondering who the blonde was, and why the show seemed to be about her, now. Still, reading through even the short episode summaries on Wikipedia, I can’t help but get the feeling I didn’t miss much. Honestly, I think the invention and inclusion of the Hollow - much less using it twice - was a terrible idea on the showrunners’ part, but that’s a conversation for another thread.

I think it made sense, at least in the beginning, why Piper might not have been happy with the idea of Phoebe moving out of the manor. It hadn’t been all that long since Prue had died, and whether anyone wanted to admit it or not, Paige’s suspicions about Cole once the Source invaded his body weren’t entirely baseless. (And I may be alone in thinking this, but given that the episode ‘Size Matters’ at least suggests - if not outright states - that Paige has the ability to sense evil, it may well be possible that she was picking up on some evil vibes that the Source couldn’t manage to keep entirely hidden - it is the Source of All Evil, after all, and you don’t get a title like that unless you’re REALLY FREAKING EVIL - and that might have been part of the reason “Cole” wanted them to get their own place.) To her credit, Piper did show later on that she could handle it, at least if nothing else was going on right then that Phoebe really should have been caring about more. (But then, the nickname PhoeMe didn’t come from nowhere, did it?)

I think they all deserve their own lives and to do what they wanted, but I think it was rather selfish of Phoebe to want Piper and Leo to stay, yet move out herself when she wants to.

The only way Phoebe might have had more of a point than Piper was that to their knowledge at this time, the Source had been vanquished and so it might now be safer to live alone.

Given what we know about the nexus that the manor was built on top of, I would have expected Source!Cole to want to stay there, too.

It would also make Cole out to be the best brother in-law and having Paige out of the house would mean that he can do things without people really listening in. 

In my dream Charmed its Phoebe and Cole occupying the Manor at the end of the series, not Piper and Leo.

Hmm… When Dan moved out after he’d served his purpose of creating an unnecessary love triangle in season two, did we ever see anyone else move in? Because if there’s no canon resident, it’ll be that much easier to move Piper and Leo in there.

That would've been pretty cool, actually!


Piper and Leo move in the neighboring house, Paige never moved in, at least not so quickly (in my dream canon), and Phoebe and Cole occupied the manor!

It does make so much more sense for Cole to want to stay in the Manor. And I could easily picture Piper and Leo moving into a smaller, less witchy house. I love the Manor, but I could see Piper living in a house that had more of the vibes that the Manor kitchen did, something brighter and friendlier without the all the dark wood and witchy history the Manor had. 

I can't picture Paige in the penthouse, but maybe a less fancy apartment would have been fun if Cole had given it to her. I could see her being torn between wanting to keep an eye on Cole and wanting her own place, made harder if Piper and Leo also moved out of the Manor.

If only because I’m pretty sure Paige was still working as an assistant social worker at this point, and they don’t get paid well enough to afford the rent on a penthouse apartment in downtown San Francisco. It’s not like Cole’s (possibly fictitious?) law firm would have paid for someone else to live there.
