Okay everyone has their worst seasons right? But surely even in them, you must have had some episodes you enjoyed.
For me -
Season 6:
Little Monsters - I loved the little Manticore baby and that whole plot was really nice. We were able to see Piper as the heart of the family which reminded me of the first four seasons.
Chris-Chrossed - We got to learn more about Chris and how bad his future really is. We also got to learn that Wyatt is the Big Bad.
Legend of the Sleepy Halliwell - I actually like Magic School. Don't get me wrong but I thought it was a good addition to the series plus we find out that Chris is Piper and Leo's son and he came back to save his family.
The Courtship of Wyatt's Father - Am I the only one who found this episode very heartwarming and almost old school? I just thought it was one of the best written episodes of this season.
Spin City - I loved Leo and Chris's complicated relationship
Crimes and Witch-Demeanours - I was happy this made Phoebe realise she was misusing her magic which sort of made up somewhat for Hyde School Reunion.
It's a Bad, Bad World (both parts) - An Elder being evil was an amazing twist. Phoebe's theory was right after all.
Season 8:
Run Piper Run: Probably the only one I really enjoyed in this season. No, wait there is one another.
Rewitched: I liked them realising that they weren't doing the right thing.

Season 8: Vaya Con Leos
Reason: Probably one of the few episodes at the end that seemed to take itself seriously with the characters and the story. Here you have Leo finally beginning to make an effort to branch himself from the sisters and pursue some of his own interests in the world only to have everything come crashing to a screeching halt with the angel of death appearing to claim his soul for the purposes of galvanising the sisters in their war against the big bad of the season. It's some of the most earnest composure that we see from the sisters this late into the show and I like it.
Season 6: Chris Crossed & Courtship of Wyatt's Father
Reason: Similar reasons as above, except here we're being some firsthand perspective into the anarchic hellhole of a world that Chris, the focal point of Season 6, hails from -- for however long this perspective into the conditions that moulded Chris into the man he was given to us it reinforced the gravity of what it was Chris was there to stop. We glimpsed the netherworld from which Chris had become so traumatised as a result of living in for much of his life. We even were privy to the one positive element of his life which he lost in the very same episode. In an overarcing context it's cheap and superfluous, what with there being so little momentum to help make us acquainted with what it is we're seeing and the victims suffering because of it not having the development they needed for it to mean something.
Courtship of Wyatt's Father is a bit different with its centralised concentration on Leo and Piper's cat & mouse chase for survival with the darklighter in the alternate world. It's the culmination of Chris's ancillary mission to ensure that his conception comes to fruition. Plus, the scenes with Gideon elaborated on the grander role his character had to the seasonal plot. I did enjoy the scraps of dispositional nuance that we saw with his character when he brandished Leo with the moral and obligational quandary of learning to put his personal feelings aside and fully embrace the role he agreed to take on back at the end of Season 5. I would have liked to have seen more of Gideon's internal conflict, his more elaborative reasoning and conditions for wanting Leo to be killed for his ideal of the "greater good", the unconscionable guilt of a weight that the self-appointed mission has burdened his heart with, and perhaps even a greater reflective understanding of how far the sisters have fallen and what advocated benefits his intentions could have for the world.

These are the episodes where I feel they did the S6 right. Phoebe's empathy was actually useful and interesting and so was Chris' identity.
SEASON 8:
- Run, Piper, Run
- Rewitched
- The Lost Picture Show
- Engaged and Confused
- Generation Hex
- The Jung and Restless
The build-up to to the Halliwell/Jenkins showdown is actually pretty decent. Despite the letdowns in the final two episodes, and the arc as a whole, it was an interesting avenue to explore: the Halliwells being made to address their selfish behaviour.

I'm surprised that more members who don't like Season Four didn't include Charmed Again or Hell Hath No Fury. Those are usually fan favorites although I hate Hell Hath No Fury despite Holly's fantastic acting (it was the start of her turning into Poor, Poor Pitiful Piper) and although I used to like "Charmed Again, Part One" (but not Part Two), after re-watching it, I no longer do. But as usual I thought I was an exception and am surprised to find out I'm not.
Of course, I know a lot more fans like Season Four and wouldn't include it in this thread. I love Paige and Leo in it (hence my choices) but hate the Phoebe-Cole-Source storyline, but I always thought it was more popular.

Really can't think of an intruiging episode from those first two seasons. But I will go with the season 8 finale. As awful as season 8 was, they did still manage to put together an intruiging ending, despite the cringe-worthy crying scene after Billie kills her sister. But overall the finale was good. Not as good as it should have been, but far better than anything else produced in season 8. |
