That reminds me of the one I did for the writing contest too dear, It wasn't a full story, and I never did finish it and make it full. But I played around with 'Morality Bites' having Prue & Andy having Melinda, and Piper the businesswoman.

I'd love to see what you would do with your version dear.

Yeah, I'll be interested to see what I do with it, too. It was fairly easy for the part of the episode that I decided to use, the rest - well, we'll see, if Summer doesn't decide to use it. I'm not sure if she will since she'd only be able to use it as a series finale since I don't think she'd be able to turn alive Andy into dead Leo with his whitelighter powers and how she'd get around no Leo. But if anyone can, I'm sure Summer can.


In the meantime, Granny, do you still have your copy of your contest entry? I think we should re-post them here so that our newer members and those who weren't around when we held the contest and have come back.

A Different Look at 'Morality Bites'

Andrew Trudeau frowned as he glanced at his watch. In only five hours, his ex-sister-in-law would be burnt to death – unless he decided to do something he knew he very simply couldn’t do.

When Prue had called to ask him to take custody of Melinda, she also told him how she and Piper planned to break Phoebe out of the prison and then get as far away from San Francisco as they could, but they could only do that if Andy helped.

As a San Francisco inspector he would be one of many officers who would be at the prison making sure there was law and order during the execution. Andy could go to the main control room and turn off the electricity just long enough for Prue and Piper to break in, have Piper freeze the execution chamber, Prue use her power to free Phoebe so they could grab Phoebe and get out of there. When the lights came back on, no one would know how she had escaped and they’d still have the Power of Three.

They’d been so careful the last few years, ever since Phoebe used her own power of empathy to kill the man who killed her best friend and got away with it, making sure no one knew that they were still very close sisters who were still planning on freeing their baby sister. Part of keeping that secret meant that Prue never went to any of Piper’s restaurants and Piper never went to the Manor or Buckland’s.

They just needed Andy to help them, just this once. Then they’d be out of his and Melinda’s lives forever, Prue swore it. But Andy had to tell her that just like he had to arrest Phoebe, as a cop, he had to enforce the law, and that did not include helping a convicted murderer escape.

Prue refused to believe that he’d actually let Phoebe burn. Andy had grown up with the girls, was practically the big brother they’d never had. How could he possibly do this?

But how could he not?

Andy gave a heavy sigh. How could all of this have gone so wrong? He was so proud of his “sisters” when he found out that they were the Charmed Ones, hereditary witches who were charged with protecting the innocent. It so fit in with what Andy believed, what his father, his grandfather, his great-grandfather believed, the reason he had become a cop, and then an inspector.

But then the sisters started to change.

It all started when Piper lost Leo. Andy had never met him, but he was some sort of guardian angel for witches and Piper and Leo broke the rules. They fell in love the same way Prue and Piper’s mother had fallen in love with her own whitelighter.

But the first time Leo and Piper made love he was taken away by a group called the Elders. What exactly they were Andy had never been able to figure out since once they took Leo away they had had nothing more to do with the Charmed Ones. But after they took him away and never let him come back, Piper decided to hell with them and started using her powers for herself rather than others, starting by realizing her own dream - setting up her own restaurant, “Piper’s”, featuring the Leo-burger.

Andy didn’t think it was all that good of a burger, but Piper must’ve used her magic to make people think otherwise, because it became an almost-instant hit and soon there were “Piper’s” all over the country.

And when Prue and Phoebe saw what all she could do with her magic, well, they followed along, Prue becoming the owner of the company she had worked for and Phoebe getting her own TV talk show, the most popular show on TV, which again, Andy was certain was thanks to her magic, since he didn’t think Phoebe was that good of an interviewer, since she always made it all about her and not her guest.

Unfortunately, by that point, Andy and Prue were already married and had Melinda. When Melinda started showing signs of using her own magic for her own needs, Andy tried so hard to convince Prue to either bind Melinda’s powers or teach her how to use them properly, but Prue refused. She was having too much fun using her power for herself and wanted her daughter to enjoy her magic, too.

Finally the cop in Andy couldn’t stand it anymore and that’s when he divorced her. He wanted to try for custody, but how could he raise a magical daughter when he had no powers himself and Prue refused to bind them? So as much as it hurt, he had let Prue have her.

At least now he’d refused to take custody of her if Prue didn’t bind her powers first. Melinda wouldn’t like it but it was for both of their good.

Suddenly he felt something strange in the air. Looking around, he saw that everything for a full block had frozen. He sighed. Only one real witch could’ve done that and he was so sure that witch knew better, especially on a day like this. And, sure enough, she and her sister, his ex-wife, were the only ones moving.

He marched up to them, glaring. “What the hell do you two think you are doing?”

“Andy!” Prue cried, the joy in her voice something he hadn’t heard since he arrested Phoebe. “It’s so good to see you!” She reached up to hug him, but he quickly backed away, the sight of the two of them making him sick. “Uh, what’s wrong?"

“You know,” he growled. “I just knew one of you would do something stupid like this. Prue, how could you let her use her magic in public? What's the matter with you? Are you insane?”

“Uh, Andy…”

To Andy’s shock, he heard Piper whisper to Prue, “Remember he thinks we know what's going on.”

“Of course you know what’s going on!” Andy exclaimed. “What? You want to end up like your sister? I thought we had an agreement. No using magic for Melinda's sake.”

“Melinda?” Prue asked, shocked.

Andy rolled his eyes, not believing this charade one bit. “Our daughter. What's wrong with you?”

Prue’s eyes nearly bugged out of her head while Piper asked, “Wait a second. You're Prue's ex?”

But the air was changing again. Before anyone could unfreeze, Andy grabbed both Halliwell sisters’ arms and ran, pulling them along. “Alright, hurry, we have to get out of here before they see you.”

“They?” Prue asked.

Again Andy rolled his eyes. “The witch hunters.” He quickly ducked inside a building, running up the stairs and running into the first open door he spot. Fortunately, no one was inside and there was a lock on the door.

They were safe. At least for now.

Now if he could only figure out what was wrong with his ex-wife and her sister.

So? What do you guys think? And I'll bet like me you hope for a chance to read (or re-read) Granny's - the entry that actually won the contest.

After spending time searching for my entry, in the end, I found a copy in a PM (the one I sent to StoryGirl as requested for the contest) So I'm thrilled I am able to share something until I hunt down for my copy (which could even be an updated version of the contest entry, I'm not sure).

So *fair warning*, this wasn't a completed story dears. This was the first story I also *ever* wrote period as a Fanfic writer, so excuse the formatting and parts of the story jumps with holes in it. 

Morality Bites: Rewritten

Prue awakens into her 2009 body. Immediately looking confused, she feels a sense of relief at her familiar surroundings of the manor. Noticing her hair is different, she is left puzzled at her new future self. Suddenly Prue hears the voice of a little girl screaming for her mother.

A little girl comes running calling out mommy. "Who are you, and what are you doing in this house?" Prue asked her.

"Stop being silly mommy", The little girl said as she hugs Prue.

Prue immediately looks at her daughter and notices she has a mole under her right eye just like her. Like mother, like daughter.

Suddenly the carpool arrives for her daughter. A woman comes in. "So do you want me to do as you said drop she her off at your ex-husband's house," said the woman. Prue looks confused but then responds. "Yes, do that".

Her daughter hugs Prue goodbye. "Mommy, I promise to not use magic as you said".

Prue smiles and nods. "Have a nice day sweetie", Prue says to her daughter as she leaves the house with her carpool.


Suddenly Prue notices the television is on, and see's Phoebe's execution is going ahead as planned. Prue is shocked. "I thought we were supposed to show up 2 weeks before Phoebe's execution," Prue said confused.

Suddenly Prue hears a car outside the manor. She walks outside to find Piper dressed in very business-like wear, she walks out of limbo.

Piper telling her assistants that they can leave. Prue is stunned to see Piper, and Prue can't help but notice Piper is a blonde. Piper explains that she awakened in P3. Prue responds "but your restaurant P3 just opened a week ago.".

Piper explains that P3 must be a huge hit in the future, she has venues all over the country and some in France, Australia, and England.

They walk inside the manor, and Prue shows Piper a photo of her daughter. Piper commenting that she has a mole under her eye just like Prue. Piper asks Prue what her name is, but she doesn't know. Piper suggests they go to the attic and look at the book.

Phoebe is visited by Andy. "Andy, I am so happy to see you". Phoebe said, surprised and happy to see a familiar face.

"Are you here to help? Phoebe asked with a cheerful smile.

"No, Phoebe, I am here to reason with you" Andy responded back looking serious.

"Reason"? Phoebe looked puzzled.

"Phoebe, I know this is hard to hear? Andy said in a sad voice. "But, you need to hear the truth". Andy told her in a now serious voice.

Phoebe now began to look serious, Andy really had something important to tell Phoebe.

"I have spoken to Prue and Piper" Phoebe looks worried for a second. "They are fine, don't worry" Phoebe is relieved.

"Why are you dressed like you are one of the guards?" Phoebe wonders.

"I became a guard, after the incident. After everything that happened. I needed to help. What you did set a chain of events. Innocent people are being accused of being witches, and not just witches. I'm here to help them." Andy explained.

Phoebe then looks into Andy's eyes. "You know what I did and who I killed?. Phoebe wants a straight answer.

"What you did, crossed a line, Phoebe". Andy said very sad and upset. "You took a life, and we have been struggling ever since".







Phoebe touches Andy and suddenly gets a promotion of her killing Cal Green. Phoebe snaps out of it, and now she is filled with so much pain and horror.

"You saw it didn't you, you relived it all". Andy said.

"I killed someone, but why and what did he do" Phoebe is still so shattered with guilt.

"He murdered a dear friend of us all!" Andy looks very sad and this friend's death affected him too.

Phoebe raises her voice to Andy. "Who was it, tell me" Phoebe demands.

"It was Darryl, he killed Darryl" Andy is very hurt. "OMG, Darryl. I..."

Phoebe is heartbroken by the news. "That is why I have to protect my daughter at any cost Phoebe. I can't let her live in a world where she is punished for being a witch".

Phoebe begins to see the pain in Andy's voice, and with everything, she saw in her promotions. She starts to understand.

"Prue and I, we may not be together. But we both know how much Melinda means to us both". Andy explains. "Phoebe, as much as it hurts, I don't know if I can help you. I am so sorry".

Andy exits Phoebe's prison room and walks off, leaving Phoebe to process everything and comes to terms with it all.

Prue and Piper are in a car together out outside of Andy's house. Prue is conflicted.

"Prue, you better hurry. I know this is hard. But do it now, Andy could be home any second. Phoebe is running out of time". Piper holds her hand and comforts her.

"It's just, this is such a big decision, I feel like Grams". Piper just nods, and Prue gets out of the car. She looks through a window and sees her daughter Melinda playing. Prue is holding a binding spell.

Andy comes home in his car. Piper sees Andy coming, and gets out of her car and approaches him.

"Andy, wait". Piper trying to reason with him.

"Stay out of this Piper". Andy in a very angry tone.

"Andy, I'm sorry". Piper means it. "I'm sorry everything between you and Prue didn't work out, I'm sorry I wasn't around".

Andy stops and looks to Piper. "Piper, I know you mean well. But you have no idea what it is like to have a child."

Piper just lets Andy go and doesn't bother to respond.




Prue is just frozen looking at her daughter through a window, she is smiling and has a few tears.

"You can't do it, can you? Andy comes up behind Prue. Prue wipes away a few tears from her face and responds to Andy.

"No, I can't Andy. Grams did this for our protection".

Andy nods and understands.

"Prue, listen to me. You do not have to do this. We agreed that I will take care of her, I promise."

Prue now gets serious. "Andy, did we try to make it work. You and I were we happy".

Andy smiles and nods. "Prue we tried to make it work. But what happened to Darryl and what I saw happening to you and your sisters. It was too much".

Prue just listens to Andy and then says words she never thought she would say.

"Maybe we were not meant to be," Andy responds back.

"Maybe so, but I really did care about you Prue. Andy says looking sad.

Prue changes the subject. "Are you going to stop me and Piper".

Andy with a quiet voice. "Do I have a choice, I want to help rescue all the other innocents locked up".

Prue understands and walks off.


Prue gets back into the car and sees Piper is upset. "What is wrong?" Prue asks looking concerned.

"I have nobody to say goodbye to. I have no life apart from my business with P3. I am so successful with my business, but it looks like I put everyone else second. Andy even said I have no idea what it is like to have a child or a husband. Maybe, It is for the best Prue. Maybe I am just not fit to have those things in life".

Prue tries to calm Piper down. "I am going to die and my tombstone will read. Here lies Piper, workaholic."

Piper continues talking. Prue gets Piper to breathe in and out and listen to her. "We're not going to die. You hear me. We will find a way back to the present and make a new future.




Piper starts the car, and the two sisters drive off ready to face the huge challenge ahead in their rescue of Phoebe.

Since we are sharing contest entries. I remember Ruth Marie (also a winner of a contest) had her own version of Morality Bites, a much different one I might add. So, Ruth, It would be wonderful if you shared it here, for our new members who may not have seen it.

Although you did such a great job with combining an S3 episode ('Pre-Witched') with 'Something Wicca This Way Comes', I think you could do the same if you wanted to combine 'Morality Bites' with an episode like 'Apocalypse Not' or even 'All Hell Breaks Loose' or 'Witch Way Now?' or even 'Something Wicca This Way Goes' as your SERIES finale. If you wanted to do something similar to what I did, you could even try combining it with either 'Love Hurts' or 'Deja vu All Over Again', which we'd be re-re-watching just a couple weeks before 'Morality Bites'.

I'm very curious to see what you end up doing with it.

With my own, well, I stopped here on purpose - I wasn't really sure how to continue from there. But I'll definitely be thinking about it when we re-watch 'Morality Bites'...

And if anyone has any ideas of how I could continue, I'd love to hear them!

That sounds like a really good idea. As some of my best ideas come after doing a re-watch. And waiting until we re-re-watch those two right before 'Morality Bites' will be good. So right now, I might just play around with ideas for other stories. I like to work on one at a time, and not several at once.

Good idea. I just love our re-watches, especially with we all do our usual chatter with ideas among ourselves. I love getting ideas and inspiration for you guys too. Also the fun of these re-watches.

I can't think of anything off the top of my head on how to continue right now. What we could do, is after our re-watch of MI, we could re-post these stories right after we watch, that might fuel some ideas having just seen the episode.

Thank you, Granny - it was fun to re-read yours again. I think others can see how if you combined your version showing what happened with our Charmed Ones and my version showing what could've happened to set up that future and it gives them a pretty good idea of what 'Morality Bites' might have been like had Ted King not decide to leave the series - and I still think it has more to do with that than the spin that Connie no longer wanted him as part of the series, just like I don't think Shannen and Alyssa's "feud" had anything to do with Shannen's firing - and I don't believe *her* spin that *she* quit...

Now I hope that Ruth decides to post hers, since it's similar to these but different, since it's *not* Phoebe who is about to burn...and Andy isn't part of it while Leo is. So it won't fit in with our discussion of what might have happened if Ted King didn't leave the way these could, but it might give Summer different ideas of how to use this as part of her "Charmed: Reimagined".

If you wanted to do something similar to what I did, you could even try combining it with either 'Love Hurts' or 'Deja vu All Over Again', which we'd be re-re-watching just a couple weeks before 'Morality Bites'.

I'm very curious to see what you end up doing with it.

With my own, well, I stopped here on purpose - I wasn't really sure how to continue from there. But I'll definitely be thinking about it when we re-watch 'Morality Bites'...

Me too, it is so much fun and yes it feels like a chat room, and ditto it is even better because the discussions don't go away. 

So much fun, I love our post-chat conversations, and your usual review and us being surprised or shocked at how different it is from your last re-watch.

I'd love to see others join, and everyone is more than welcome too.

If I had the time, I'd love to go through both chat nights, and somehow merge the conversations together, so we can look over them all. But doing that requires lots of effort to figure out how to get two nights chats to flow well together.

But it is so many episodes, so the effort to do them all might be too much.

I think others can see how if you combined your version showing what happened with our Charmed Ones and my version showing what could've happened to set up that future and it gives them a pretty good idea of what 'Morality Bites' might have been like had Ted King not decide to leave the series - and I still think it has more to do with that than the spin that Connie no longer wanted him as part of the series, just like I don't think Shannen and Alyssa's "feud" had anything to do with Shannen's firing - and I don't believe *her* spin that *she* quit...

Now I hope that Ruth decides to post hers, since it's similar to these but different, since it's *not* Phoebe who is about to burn...and Andy isn't part of it while Leo is. So it won't fit in with our discussion of what might have happened if Ted King didn't leave the way these could, but it might give Summer different ideas of how to use this as part of her "Charmed: Reimagined".

Exactly so, it does give an idea of how it might have been. I don't believe that spin from Connie at all, like the Shannen/Alyssa feud (especially since the dailies from S3 show how well they get along or at least while acting, they are laughing with each-other between takes) and Shannen being fired.

It would be fun to imagine how if would be the other way around, if Ted King did stay, how fans would be wondering if Andy left and Leo stayed, how the show would be like?. I'll doubt we'd have thought of any of the plots that came out of the series when Leo did stay.

That's very true, it isn't exactly the same as our discussion right now. But It might give Summer some ideas.

Granny and Es, thanks for sharing. I loved these, gives me a wonderful idea of how this could play out if Andy stayed. I so wished I lived in a universe where Andy did stay and Leo didn't.

As much as we hate Cole, he only impacted Phoebe's character and destroyed her and gave us S4 and S5 first half of not that well-done plots. Of course, I'd wish he was only a one-season character too, but Leo proved to change the entire series going forward in many more ways, that him not returning, means big changes, hopefully for the better in the long-run. No whitelighters, Elders, witchlighters, Chris, Paige, Wyatt and Piper's character changes.

LOL, that's funny to think about, but I'll bet you're right - we'd be doing all of these stories about what might have happen had Leo stayed. But then again it might depend upon what they did with a Leo-less Piper. We might have liked whatever they had planned for her if Andy had stayed and Leo hadn't.

Now had *Shannen* been made EXECUTIVE producer while KERN was the one who was let go, then I believe we might have gotten eight seasons of the original Charmed Ones (no Paige) and a much better series that might have included Cole the Source and Phoebe the Queen of the Underworld, but NOT Cole the Stalker. I also believe that under those circumstances, Piper would've had Melinda who would not be the Twice-Blessed Child with a prophecy of her own making her more powerful than the Charmed Ones and who may not have even had any whitelighter powers.

I'd love to see a scenario where Kern was let go and Shannen had been Executive Producer, as it would be much more female-centric. I'll also believe the original writers like Chris, Zack and Sheryl would stay on, and not depart after S3.

I'd think having a buch would be so fun to do, and calling it Summer-Style would make sense. I know you'd have fun combining a buch together Es, and I'm sure it will be just as fun to see how a board-style one taking bits from all of them would be like.
