Well that's a relief lol. I thought i was going to get a verbal thrashing for suggesting Piper and Leo weren't perfect soul mates! Thanks Prudence! But to further the point, i have watched Charmed so many times and never accepted Leo and Piper as a couple. Maybe it's because of the romance that existed in real life between Brian Krause and Alyssa Milano? perhaps it made it hard for Holly Marie Combs to portray a loving relationship with Mr. Krause? It just seems to me the greatest time in their relationship was the period BEFORE they got married. Remember how romantic it was when leo was duking it out with neighbor Dan in season 2? Or when Piper was crying over his dead body in season 1? That's what i wanted to see in later seasons, instead of the weird tension that existed between them. I don't like Piper and Leo as a couple either, unless it's in the very early days in season 1 when Piper was still likable to me and was nice to Leo. It's a good point you make that real life dynamics between the actors might have influenced how the characters of Piper and Leo appeared on screen. I get the sense that they're close in real life, but the lack of romance between them makes for a bit of a boring on-screen couple. That isn't a bad thing, because for a while they're the most stable relationship of the show. But it isn't as exciting as it could be. Thank you for agreeing Elle! Again, i might not be making a popular opinion here, but i actually liked Piper a lot in season 1, when Holly Marie Combs used a more mellow, restrained approach to the character. Her voice was also really sweet. However, i;m sorry to say I am currently watching season 4 of Charmed and the difference between her personality in season 1 and season 4 is HUGE, and not for the better. I know people change, characters evolve, but i just feel they made her really unlikable in a lot of episodes. She always seems pissed about something, or really snarky, which is partially understandable since she just lost her sister, however the change happened long before Prue's death. Anyway, i really LOVED John Cho's character in season 1 and was heartbroken that we never saw him again. Oh well. Maybe one day i will write some fan fiction where him and Piper fall in love lol.

Season 1 Piper is my favorite version of her. There was no reason to change who she was in that season beyond making her more assertive, which they did easily by the end of the season when she was able to stand up to her boss and have the courage to quit her job and try something else. I think they needed a sweet character throughout the show, and Piper could have easily been that person. The writers seemed to think that she needed to become the opposite of that. And Holly herself started playing her in a more irritated and impatient way. I don't need the characters to be likable all the time, but that tone just didn't fit Piper. I don't think making someone overly sarcastic and snappy means they're more mature, or whatever they were going for. And I liked Mark too. If I knew Piper would stay who she was in season 1, they would have been really cute together.

But growing up now, I don't get the love people have for her in S4-S8. Her snarky remarks are not funny or sassy at all. They come across as bitter and mean. I don't get how Leo can put up with it. I'd hate to be Leo married to that Piper. I'd run the other way and never look back. She's so mierable. LOL did Rex telling Piper in Wicca Envy "You're a mierable witch" get in her head longterm moving forward.

There is so many. - Kyra. - Tanya Parker. - Tyler. - Aviva. - Mikelle. - Daisy. - Max Franklin. - Ava Nicolae. - Maggie Murphy ETC.. It would seem like they introduce characters on the show then they completely go MIA, it sucks that no sister could have one friend outside of themselves, having a reoccurring innocent who has magical abilities would be the perfect person for them. I completely understand that they needed to focus on the sisters and would want them to be the main focus however I would have loved to see more of the witch and gypsy community and would have preferred less focus on the "magical community". I would have thought they would focus on the Nicolae's and have them being included in the Halliwell's life so they could have friends in the show, with two powerful female families in their retrospective communities (witch: Halliwell| gypsy: Nicolae) would have been beautiful to see. I loved the gypsy storyline so much. That's probably my most favorite episode of season 5. They would have made such perfect companions to the sisters, each group bringing their own unique blend of magic and working together to help people and keep the world a safer place. I wish the show had focused more on different magical groups that were based on humans, like the sisters, who had magical powers. The magical community that brought us leprechauns and fairies and ogres and whatever else was just too silly. It was also my favourite storyline in Season Five, I would have preferred it to have lasted longer, I believe a whole season dedicated to them learning about other types of magic would be beautiful and season five would have been the prefect time to have done it, open up with the Eyes Have It, then show the sisters learning about being midwives along side Ava, along the way we meet more gypsies and their traditions and the season ends with Prudence Melinda being born. That would be perfect, their sisterhood at the forefront of the season with them gaining longterm friends, would have been amazing. Piper could then start to have a normal life, she would be able to talk to someone who knows their secret and a confidant, Ava being new to magic would relate to Paige and they could share that, Ava not believing in her powers is something that Phoebe can relate to eventually I would have made Kyra into a witch and she could be friends with Phoebe. There is so many missed opportunities, it's baffling.

There is so many missed opportunities, it's baffling. Having them connect and form friendships with Ava and Kyra, if she were a witch, and getting more into working with gypsies and other groups that are similar could have been a great way to go. It would be a fun second half of the show. The first half could be mostly about the sisters and their family that they're related to by blood, and then the second half could be branching out of their family and connecting with people who become like sisters to them, even if they're not related. It still keeps the idea of sisterhood intact and doesn't lose sight of what the show is about, while at the same time makes it so that there is more to explore in the second half and we don't need the drama with Leo and the elders, Wyatt and Chris, and everything that took away focus from the core of the show.

LOL did Rex telling Piper in Wicca Envy "You're a mierable witch" get in her head longterm moving forward. You got that right, West! Last night i was watching the Firestarter episode from season 4, and at one point Piper instructs Phoebe to call Paige on the phone (who is at work) because they might need the power of three when confronting a demon. INstead of just being polite and sisterly about it, Piper refers to Paige as "needing to get her butt back here". Why use that tone? Literally the episode before Paige had to relive the trauma of seeing her parents die in a fiery car accident and spent most of the episode bawling (incidentally, Piper's advice to Paige during that episode was to "move on with her life"), so i just keep seeing a pattern of a lack of sensitivity on Piper's part, something which i can't recall Prue ever doing.

In fact, Piper has become callous and selfish. Phoebe hasn't even cried or felt guilty over Prue's death, she has crocodile tears vaguely in the bedroom. Honestly, we've all been in mourning who does that? Both disappointed me a lot.

In fact, Piper has become callous and selfish. Phoebe hasn't even cried or felt guilty over Prue's death, she has crocodile tears vaguely in the bedroom. Honestly, we've all been in mourning who does that? Both disappointed me a lot. Phoebe cried harder for Cole in LLTQ than she ever did for Prue, and that disappointed me a lot. Prue was her sister that never betrayed her, and was murdered. She hadn't even known Cole for two years before LLTQ, and he literally tried to kill her and her family multiple times. And it never seemed like they had a very happy marriage either, short though it was. I can understand her being that upset over Cole, especially if she had to be the one to kill him, but not without also being that upset over Prue, which she wasn't. And while we're talking about Piper's changed tone from how she started out, I always think of this exchange from A Knight to Remember: Leo: Okay, well, you have to stop her. You can't let her find him. According to the Elders, if she conceives his heir, dark magic will rule his kingdom forever. History will be rewritten. Your future... Piper: Will be screwed. The world will plunge into darkness. Yadda, yadda, yadda! Phoebe: Okay, that's not helping. It seems innocent, but I can hear the stress in Phoebe's voice and see Leo's face at her sarcastic response. I just don't like that sort of attitude. It didn't come across in a joking way, just mean and unhelpful.

I know he was dead throughout the episode he featured in, but i LOVED the character John Cho played in season 1. I cried at the end when he disappeared with his father. I was also heartbroken for Piper. I thought they made such a cute couple, better than her and Leo (ducking for cover lol) I'm so happy to hear you liked Mark!!! That ending always brings tears to my eyes. It's such a great episode. Piper saying, "Leave it to me to fall for a dead guy" at the end -- gosh, I'm almost crying thinking about it now! Lol, I'll be ducking for cover with you because I agree! I thought Piper/Mark were better than Piper/Leo, despite them only having that one episode together. I think it would have been great to bring Mark back somehow in later episodes. Imagine him coming back in an episode in the later seasons and he gets Piper to rethink things, help change her attitude about being a witch so that she views it in a more positive light once again rather than it being an inconvenience to her daily life... I feel a lot of the characters/innocents from the earlier seasons could have made a reappearance to help remind the Charmed Ones (I'm talking about Piper and Phoebe here) of the people they used to be and how far they'd strayed from that. Thank you for agreeing Elle! Again, i might not be making a popular opinion here, but i actually liked Piper a lot in season 1, when Holly Marie Combs used a more mellow, restrained approach to the character. I feel the same way about Piper's character! I love her in Season 1! Because I watched Seasons 4-8 first before Seasons 1-3, it was a surprise to me when we first meet Piper in the first season because she's so different. Personally, S1 Piper is my favorite Piper and I wish she would have stayed more like that. I feel like this is when she is at her best. Season 2 starts to mark the beginnings of the Piper I don't like. I always think back to I've Got You Under My Skin when Piper worries that being a witch might mean she's bad and she's afraid to enter the church because she thinks she is going to be struck by lightning. What a great scene when she opens the door to find she's okay and her exclaiming, "I'm good!" Such an adorable Piper moment. Honestly, I miss superstitious Piper! I kind of imagine later seasons Piper like this: --- Piper, Phoebe, Paige, and Leo are all at the Manor. No demon attacks to be heard of. They're all in the same room, quietly reading/napping/simply relaxing. Piper is reading a book. But THEN: Phoebe, Paige, or Leo: -Sneezes- No One: Not A Single Soul: Not even Prue, casually watching from above in the afterlife: Piper: -Annoyed, groans dramatically while raising a hand and causing something on a table near her to shatter/explode- YOU MADE ME LOSE MY SPOT!!! (Lol, I imagine Paige just orbing out after that, thinking like, I'm not about to be the next object of Piper's wrath.) --- It's silly, I know. But I totally agree with you that it seemed like Piper was always annoyed/pissed about something, even the littlest of things. But back to Piper/Mark... I'm so here for a fanfic! If you write anything with this, please let me know! I'd love to read it!

I've seen a lot of great suggestions! I agree with pretty much everything I've read.
I may have taken the question a little differently, but in regards to plots, literally anything to do with Paige's backstory would have been great to see more of. Like learning more of her adoptive family beyond her parents, her past struggle with alcohol (maybe show this in conjunction with her falling back into it briefly with the new added stresses and pressures of being a Charmed One and have her sisters help her through this), what made her claustrophobic (like her first experience that brought upon this fear, like how we learned of Prue's fear of drowning), etc. So much of this was brought up for like one episode and then completely forgotten.
Remember in Charmed Again, Part 1 when Paige tells Shane that she'd been coming to P3 on and off for the last year? And that she'd gone looking for her birth mother and found she might have been related to the Halliwells? I always wished they would have shown flashbacks of her at the club, maybe show her running into Piper or Phoebe and her having a quick awkward exchange with them or something. I mean, I find it hard to believe this never happened if she'd been going to the club in the past year, especially considering (1) Piper owns the place and works there and (2) how often Prue, Piper, and Phoebe would spend time together there after a demon vanquish. Surely Paige would have seen the sisters hanging out together, maybe longing to have had a bond with sisters like that since she'd grown up an only child?
I really wish we could have seen Paige running into Prue at the club, so that when she saw her obituary the name would have hit her and she'd be like, "Oh my god, I remember such and such time when I ran into her at P3. I can't believe she's gone." Like I could see Paige bumping into her and her being super apologetic and then Prue giving her a kind smile and saying it's okay and then after maybe exchanging a few more words, I imagine either Phoebe or Piper calling her name and that's when they go their separate ways. If this had happened, I feel like Paige would have felt more connected to Prue even though she'd only briefly met her before finding out she was in fact her big sister. I know this scene would have been impossible to film as Shannen had been fired, but a girl can dream. I've just always wanted so much for Prue and Paige to have met.
Or to build off of her search for her birth mother, could you imagine Paige driving by the Manor one day, parking on the opposite side of the street and just sitting in her car, deliberating whether she should go ring that doorbell and see if maybe her inclination was right? That she was, indeed, related to the Halliwells? I would have loved to see this as well.
I guess if Paige had been introduced at the end of Season 3, or rather than firing Shannen and she would have been able to stay until the end of her contract along with Rose as an addition in Season 4, then we could have gotten some of these scenes IF they'd still gone with Prue dying at some point.
I'm glad we got the episode A Paige From the Past so we could see her relationship with her parents and how much she loved them and how much they loved her. I just wish we could have had seen more of things like this with Paige's character throughout the show.

I would have loved to see the sisters having longterm friends during the second half of the show, bringing a sense of normalcy for them, Buffy had this with Willow and Xander, I couldn't see why the Halliwell's couldn't. I love your idea of the first half, seasons 1-4, being about the sisters and their relationship with each other, then having having the second half, seasons 5-8, being about the friendships that they form together. I believe that Ava and Kyra would have been great additions to the sister's lives.

I'm going to watch the whole series again (i'm currently on season 4) and perhaps once i'm done i'll have the courage to write some fan fiction. It would definitely involve either Mark coming back as a ghost to support Piper (as you suggested) or perhaps an alternate timeline where Piper never falls in love with Leo and she searches for a way to re-connect with Mark in the physical world. And yes, the ending where she says "leave it to me to fall for a dead guy" always makes me tear up. That was such an incredible episode.

I love your ideas so much. I've always thought that having her relapse with alcohol could have been a great way to help her deal with her issues as well as bring her closer to her sisters. In the episode where Glen comes back, she seems to really resent being a witch and not being able to travel. That combined with stresses from work and pressure from Phoebe and Piper to learn the craft and help them in dangerous situations is more than enough for her to turn back to drinking. I'd love it if all of season 4 was slowed way, way down and this was included. I'd love if Paige didn't meet her sisters right away, and us as the audience saw Piper and Phoebe grieving Prue and trying to get on with their lives for the first few episodes. Then separately we see Paige trying to find out more about her birth family with, as you said, Prue's Feather, flashbacks that were meant to have taken place in the last year or so. Then a few episodes in, the sisters either meet or Piper and Phoebe learn about Paige and set out to find her. After getting Paige to trust them, they spend the next few episodes coming to terms with everything and trying to keep Paige a secret so the Source won't come after them. But of course he finds out, and the mid-season 4 finale is the three of them coming together to vanquish Shax. Then I'd have the last half of season 4 be more about training Paige, and her getting overwhelmed and relapsing, and then Piper and Phoebe helping her through it while the Source continues to grow as a threat. Then Charmed and Dangerous would take place at the end of season 4 after the three sisters have fully bonded and come to trust one another.

They seemed like they got over her death so quick. And I can definitely see her resenting being a witch, resenting not being able to travel, the pressures of work, and the pressure from Piper and Phoebe to learn the craft causing her to relapse again. Relapses are apparently fairly normal, so I'm a bit surprised they never showed her having one.

I'm so happy to hear you liked Mark!!! Thank you Prue! Your post was great. I cracked up reading the scenario you wrote lol. P.S. I'm glad I could make you laugh! I was laughing myself when I wrote it. Sometimes I get these silly ideas for the sisters that are fun to write even if they aren't really a story or anything. I've just started to watch the series again, too! I have all the seasons on DVD now so I'm able to. I'm fairly new to the show (I started watching it a year ago on Pop TV and they played reruns quite frequently), so while I've seen some episodes multiple times, there are others I don't remember as well and have only caught once. I'm actually doing a rewatch because of a fanfic idea I have! I wanted to go back to get a better understanding of the sisters and some storylines, pick up on things I'd missed or forgotten, and see where I'd make changes. I'm on Season 1 right now, so I've still got ways to go. Oh, I love your idea for an alternate timeline with Piper never falling in love with Leo but instead she tries to find a way to reconnect with Mark! I'd definitely read this. If you write any Piper/Mark stories, I would love to read them!

Then Charmed and Dangerous would take place at the end of season 4 after the three sisters have fully bonded and come to trust one another. I love your outline of Season 4 going this way, Elle Em! I wish something like this could have taken place on the show. Seeing Piper and Phoebe grieve their big sister more and trying to get used to life without her before they'd met Paige would have been so much more realistic to me. I'd always imagined a scene where Piper and Phoebe are sitting on Prue's bed and they're crying but then Phoebe's reminded of a memory of Prue while looking at something in her room and she says to Piper, "Remember that time when Prue..." which proceeds to the two of them talking about times they'd spent with Prue that they cherished and they're able to find comfort in talking about these memories. I had just thought of some of these flashbacks of Paige occurring during the events of Charmed Again, but I like seeing this over a few episodes as you said better than just in the season premiere. The audience would get to learn about Paige as just Paige and her wanting to find her birth family rather than rushing right into her stepping into the role of a Charmed One. And this would be great for the last half of the season. We see Paige struggle and relapse, but overcome with the help of her sisters. I feel like it makes a lot of sense, she had a lot to take on and had to learn so quick! I really do feel seeing something like this in Season 4 in comparison to what happened in the show would have brought the three of them closer together and would also make for a good focus on the sisterhood feel that we got more of in Seasons 1 and 2. I agree, especially about Piper and Phoebe grieving Prue. I've always thought this too. It was a little better with Piper, but Phoebe just moved on too fast. Considering how close Phoebe and Prue had grown since Phoebe had moved back in with her sisters and discovering they were the Charmed Ones, I would have expected to see more of Phoebe grieving and being heartbroken over the loss of her big sister. I feel like they could have done so much better than the scene with Phoebe crying over the jacket she'd borrowed from Prue and I'd especially like to have seen more of Piper and Phoebe grieving together.

Paige's Uncle Dave and Aunt Julie. From that phone call in Charmed Again, it seems Paige was close to them. Odd that they never visited her. Yes, I think it would have been nice to know more about Paige's life before she met her new sisters.

I agree with a lot of these, but there's something to remember
If S4 had been all about getting to know Paige and ignoring Phoebe and Cole, the series probably would only have lasted another half-season. Much as most of us dislike Phoebe and Cole's story now, back then they WERE the IT couple and undoubtedly kept most fans coming back. Had it been all about Paige, most fans (especially Prue-fans) would've felt the same way most fans felt about them shoving Billie in our face in S8.
It's why doing what you guys are talking about works better as a fanfiction (or a retcon where you can also include Prue's spirit) while for the actual series, I would've preferred switching the two halves - Phoebe and Cole's story in the first half while the two sisters mourn the loss of Prue, then discovering Paige and vanquishing Cole during the midseason finale and getting to know Paige and her backstory during the second half, while Phoebe mourns Cole.
That way you could still have all the Paige-stuff you want (and get to know her even better in S5) and still have a series.
