So you were born 1 year after my sister in 83.
I was born in 4 years earlier in 1980.

We are not that many years apart.
I always find the generation groups interesting, with the cut off point, since some people might find they fit more in one verses another. Especially if you are so close on the border of one generation group to the next.

Yeah, the generation gap is always confusing, as most people can fit in either. I'm a Generation Xer (even though it says I'm a Millennial, I never felt like one), born in 1983. And you are born in 1984, so we're only a year apart.

1991 - milennial. I remember when we didn't have cellphones though!! I remember those days well. I was born in 1984, and went my entire childhood without technology (e.g computer/cellphones), It wasn't until 1997, on my 13th birthday, I got my first computer, and near the end of high school or may have been just after I think when I got my first cellphone, so I remember those times well, although nothing like the phones we have today, I remember mine was an old dumbphone.
It makes me think how my childhood and teen years would be if I was like how it is today with technology and social media.

We didn't get a computer in the house until I was in high school, so probably around 2005. I got my first cellphone in high school, it was an LG chocolate.

Otherwise, I may not have many outdoor interests like hiking and exploring, had I been exposed to so much technology, phones, social media growing up.

Very interested to know who the only member we have who is part of the Silent Generation, especially how they see Charmed. I know Es and Granny Charmed are both Baby Boomers.
Not surprised the majority are Millennial's and Generation X, which I expected.
But, so nice to see we have Gen Z/iGen members.
I'd love to find out if we get Generation Alpha members in the next decade here, but I have a feeling we won't, not when social media is something around from birth for them, most of these newer fans will be using that (or Youtube with the reaction videos, that seem to be a thing people do these days now) to talk and find Classic Charmed, and don't see them using old school message boards, but I'd love to be surprised.

I would like to add that my mother loves the show, and she would be a baby boomer. I also have 3 friends who love the show and they are all millennial (like me).
Do you think the show was too... daring and forward thinking for the more mature generations? I want to be clear, I am suggesting that maybe Charmed fans tend to be subversive people. I know a lot of every group watched the show. Who do you think was the target audience for the show? Families? Adults? Teens? Everyone?

Teens and young adults maybe but with it being about sisters families also might've appealed with it too unintentionally.

I;m a millennial (born in 1987) although none of the young guns i encounter in my everyday life would ever consider me as part of their generation lol, which means in spirit i feel like more of a generation Xer.

Great poll, Katie! I'm a Millennial. I was born in 1994. It's interesting to see the breakdown of the generations on here. I see the majority is Gen X and Millennials, but how cool to see we have members in the Silent Generation, Baby Boomers, and Gen Z as well. I'd love to hear from the member who is a part of the Silent Generation as well (if we have somewhere else on here, forgive me, I just joined) and their perspective on the show. It'd be great to see members from Generation Alpha in the future, though you're probably right that it's more likely they'll use social media to talk about it. Having been active on Twitter for a different fandom a couple of years ago and seeing how terrible people can be to each other, it's a nice shift to come to a place where thoughtful discussion can be done and everyone is respectful of each other's opinions, even if they disagree. Message boards aren't necessarily a new thing to me, but it'll be the first time I've participated in them. I was way too shy when I was younger to ever think about posting on a message board. I'm new here, so I'm not sure how long the Charmed Cafe has been around, but I think I saw posts date back to 2006? Flash forward to 2021, and there's still new people joining. Wow! I just think that's really special. I'm glad I get to be a part of it, and I hope future Charmed lovers will come and join in as well!

Oh wow! I feel like I missed out on a lot! Too bad I didn't see the show sooner! Thanks for sharing this, Melinda! It was great to look back and see how everything evolved over the years from TheCharmedOnes.com to the Charmed Cafe now.

Thanks, Prue's Feathers. Also welcome to the board! I agree, they are the social media crowd, they'd likely prefer chatting on there than old fashioned message boards. I notice most of them like those Youtube or Tik Tok reaction videos. I know we tried to invite many of those who make videos talking about Charmed and episodes, but none of them took up the offer to join us. As you said, I'd be surprised they joined us, but happy if they did. I think that is ShadowCat, a member who hasn't been online in quite a while. I sure hope she is okay. That's okay, we might just have more on here that we don't know about. I know Esmeralda and Granny Charmed are Baby Boomers. I hate social media for that reason, too much drama. Why I don't use it, apart from Instagram I use so I can comment on photos from family and friends. I like message boards better, as you don't have a character limit to chat. And on social, you have millions of people seeing your comments. I prefer the more intimate and in depth discussions you can have here. You also can't share fanfictions on social media that you can on a message board. I'm happy you found us now. [/quote]We have had future Charmed lovers join us, due to the reboot, we have brand new fans who never saw it before. I love reading their opinions, and seeing it through brand new eyes who never saw it before.

Actually the Cafe is older than that. I first found it the summer between Charmed's S4 and S5 when TheWB.com advertised it, so that would be 2002 and it appeared to have been around a lot longer than that At that point the Cafe was the message board for thecharmedones.com, a website that's no longer around, and it was an ezBoard rather than ProBoards. That was when I joined. I think we switched over to ProBoards when ezBoard became a pay site, but if anyone else remembers differently, it wouldn't surprise me.

As you said, I'd be surprised they joined us, but happy if they did. Thanks for the warm welcome, Katie! I'm excited to be here :D Aw, that's too bad that they didn't join. They'd probably have a lot to contribute to the discussions on here. I hope so too! And that's true. Some may not be as active or don't feel comfortable with sharing their age. I agree. Thankfully, I did get to be a part of a community on Twitter where we were all really supportive of one another. We all shared a similar interest in the relationship we shipped for the fandom we were a part of. One time we all came together to help our favorite pairing win this big poll, which meant a lot to us because our ship was non-canon and we felt the showrunners had baited our ship several times and there had been fans that had even called our ship delusional (this is where a lot of the toxicity, sadly, forms on Twitter with TV shows--rather than be respectful to people's preferences in ships, many want to attack your pairing just because it's not the same one they like). We were so excited when we won, some members came together and made t-shirts to commemorate the win. It was just a lot of fun and I was so happy I could be a part of that. I struggled with character limits on Twitter. As someone who tends to be detail oriented (as you can probably tell by my response here), trying to keep responses within the character limits could be frustrating at times, especially if there was a lot I wanted to say. I'd just be the one with a string of comments because I couldn't fit it all into one post! I kind of felt there was more pressure to respond quickly to someone on there too, like if you didn't comment back to their message within ten minutes the conversation would kind of just end there because they'd move on to something else by that point. The more intimate/in depth discussions are what drew me into making an account. When I first found the Charmed Cafe, I remember spending the evening reading through several threads. It was so interesting to see what people felt about different aspects of the show and how it compared to what I thought. I'm happy I found you guys, too! :) This is really a wonderful place. My regret is that I didn't find it sooner! (And that I hadn't found Charmed sooner, either!) I love that the reboot is bringing new people to the original Charmed! I didn't see the new Charmed before watching the original, but I did watch a few trailers on it after having found out about the reboot and I've turned it on a few times when new episodes were airing recently out of curiosity to see what it was like in comparison to the original series. I can't really form much of an opinion on it because I've seen parts of maybe three episodes, but I think I'd like to give it a try one day. My story's a little odd. I actually found Charmed because of the TV show House! I had watched House when it first started in 2003 and stayed with it until about halfway through Season 5 because I'd started to lose interest in the show at that point. But last year I found the channel Pop TV, and seeing that it was airing reruns, I wanted to go back and watch it and give Season 5 and the later seasons another chance, which I did actually end up enjoying! Charmed came on after House, and after watching a few episodes of it, it caught my interest. The more I watched it, the more I enjoyed it! But prior to 2020, I'd never watched Charmed. So I'm just a tad bit late to the fandom, lol! But I am so glad I found it because now Charmed is one of my favorites :)
