PRESS RELEASES FOR ELEMENTAL CHARMED FROM THE CW AND CBS-TV
SEASON ONE
SEASON ONE
Reboot From Original Creator Gets CW Pilot Orders
For a second consecutive year, The CW has handed out its first two pilot orders to a high-profile reboot of a long-running series from CBS TV Studios.
This time the network has greenlighted a new Charmed from the show's original creator, Constance M. Burge. The project will reunite Burge with three of her fellow writing staff: Sheryl. J Anderson and the popular team of Chris Levinson and Zach Estrin. Also joining the project is Paul Ruditis, known for his work on the popular Charmed comic series and author of several Charmed novels. Burge will act as executive producer while the others will write all of the episodes.
The CW originally tried to bring back Charmed, one of the signature dramas of predecessor The WB, last season, when it ordered a reimagining of the classic Aaron Spelling series from the same creative auspices. It was to be set in 1976 and feature a new trio of witches. The project was rolled over to this development season.
The new Charmed script, penned by Anderson and Ruditis and based on a story by Burge, is set in present time. Per The CW, whose brass greenlighted the pilot shortly after getting the script, “this new dark, dramatic Charmed reboot" of the classic series centers on five women, not three, and unlike the classic series, this new take will be incorporating the five elements (Earth, Air, Fire, Water and Spirit).

Now this is a cool way of rebooting, because doing three sisters again, but five women, and using the five elements, that is so very cool. It reminds me of the short-lived series Witches of East End, that was based on four women.
Charmed Reboot, Elemental Charmed signs well-known actresses for key roles
EXCLUSIVE: The new fantasy drama, Elemental Charmed, has signed three well-known actresses to play the three older witches.
TBC1, known for playing TBC on ‘TBA’, will play Prudence Warren, the fiery matriarch of the Warren clan, the SpiritHolder, whose Elemental power of Spirit lets her see the future.
TBC2, known for playing TBC on ‘TBA’, will play Prudence's calm, quiet older daughter, Patience Warren, the EarthMover, whose Elemental power of Earth lets her throw people and objects.
TBC3, known for playing TBC on ‘TBA’ will play Prudence's younger daughter, quirky, fun-loving Paige Warren, the WindWalker, whose Elemental power of Air lets her transport herself and others.
The other starring roles, that of Patience's two daughters, Piper Warren, the WaterBearer, and Phoebe Warren, the FireStarter, will be played by actresses starring for the first time, and word has it that every young dark-haired actress in Hollywood is hoping for the chance to audition.
If picked up, CBS Studio slates Elemental Charmed to start on Sunday, October 14th on The CW, one week after the 20th anniversary of the airing of the cult classic's premiere episode. That episode, 'Something Wicca This Way Comes' will be shown on its twentieth anniversary, the first Charmed episode to be broadcasted in remastered HD.

The CW Picks Up Elemental Charmed Pilot To Series
The CW has made its new series orders. The network has ordered two reboots, including the new fantasy drama Elemental Charmed, from Constance M. Burge, the original series creator of the classic series Charmed back in 1998, for the upcoming 2018–2019 season.
Penned by Sheryl J. Anderson and Paul Ruditis and created by Burge, the Charmed reboot pilot centers around five women, not three, and unlike the original classic series, this new take will be incorporating the five elements (Earth, Air, Fire, Water and Spirit).
The show will star TBC1, TBC2, TBC3, TBC4, and TBC5.
Giving new meaning to “third time’s a charm,” this reboot has been attempted twice before — first for CBS in 2013, then again for The CW in 2017. That second attempt was to be set in the 1970s, centered around three women of no blood relation, an idea that was eventually tweaked to become the pilot that earned this series order.
The classic Charmed series ran for eight seasons (1998–2006) on The WB and starred the likes of Holly Marie Combs (Pretty Little Liars), Alyssa Milano (Mistresses), Rose McGowan (Citizen Rose) and Shannen Doherty (Beverly Hills, 90210).
Details of the new series are below:
ELEMENTAL CHARMED
Logline: Two sisters move to Salem, MA to live with their mother, aunt and grandmother after discovering that they are a family of witches who discover that between protecting those innocent of the knowledge of magic from the denizens of evil magic while maintaining familial bonds, a witch’s work is never done.
Writing Staff: Sheryl J. Anderson, Paul Ruditis, Chris Levinson, Zach Estrin.
Executive Producer: Constance M. Burge
Auspices: CBS Television Studios in association with Propagate Content

”Elemental Charmed‘s” EP and Stars On Staying True To The Original and What’s To Come In Season One – Comic Con
The executive producer and cast of Elemental Charmed, The CW’s dark, dramatic Charmed reboot, took the stage on Day 1 of San Diego Comic-Con following a screening of the pilot episode, written by Sheryl J. Anderson and Paul Ruditis and based on a story by executive producer, Connie Burge. Present today were starring cast members TBC1, TBC2, TBC3, TBC4 and TBC5, along with Burge.
This new version is set in modern times in Salem, MA and follows two sisters who discover that they, along with their grandmother, mother, and aunt, are a family of witches who discover that between protecting those innocent of the knowledge of magic from the denizens of evil magic while maintaining familial bonds, a witch’s work is never done.
“The original was so much about female empowerment and sisterhood and strong women, and I feel like that’s what we need again right now," said Burge about rebooting the 1998-2006 series she created. "The writers agreed with me, and Sheryl and Paul did a fantastic job turning my story into a script. Fortunately The CW liked it, too."
The first episode wasted no time in expanding the concepts of different background experiences and ages, with each of the Warrens coming from a different generation, while featuring a few nods to The WB Network original Charmed series.
"We want to be like Charmed that lets our viewers check into our series, enter our fantasy world and allow all the troubles in the real world to go away for an hour each week," Burge revealed about what they hope the viewers will take away from the new series. "We believe that will allow our series to still be relevant and fun to watch 20 years from now, just like Charmed."
Burge assured that the series will stay true to its predecessor.
“So many people have told me that they loved the original,” she said. ”We thought a new series would be a great way to thank all of the fans who have remained so loyal throughout the years. Originally we wanted to just redo the series, but so many fans will only think of Shannen Doherty playing Prue Halliwell or Holly Marie Combs playing Piper Halliwell or Alyssa Milano playing Phoebe Halliwell along with all the rest, that we decided to change it to this. Thanks to these changes, although it's still deeply rooted in the original, this series will not just be rooted in sisterhood like the original, but also motherhood and family ties of women sticking together, juggling everyday life while also relying on each other to navigate the world we live in today."
Expressing the same sentiments, TBC2 said, “Since Connie created the original, of course we can’t help but be very respectful of the original, which TBC1, TBC3 and I all loved when we were young, but what Connie and the writers really wanted to do was allow other viewers who watched the classic series to be able to watch it with their own daughters and children now, and everyone can relate to one of these women at whatever stage of life they are in. It's a real family show rooted in fantasy.“
As to what’s in store for the Warren family, this season will focus on the bonds between these women and navigating mother-daughter, grandmother-grandchildren, niece-aunty and sister-sister relationships “Piper and Phoebe learning about their powers and gaining more control of their powers,” teased Burge. “The juggling of everyday problems, their jobs or schoolwork for Phoebe with the latest warlock or supernatural attack.”

Everything You Need To Know About The Charmed Reboot Elemental Charmed
In our exclusive interview with Executive Producer Connie Burge, we dig deep and reveal five secrets from the Elemental Charmed.
Charmed is one of television’s most iconic series led by female stars, and it is the love for the series that prompted The CW to give it a reboot and specifically ask the original creator, Constance M. Burge, to take on the task of rebooting the series that was originally based on her and her sisters, hence why sisterhood was always so important to the series.
Charmed is returning in the fall of 2018, but it isn’t the same Power of Three that fans remember, and while some are adamantly against a reboot, saying that it's much too soon, others are open to it. The new Charmed aims to bring the same female empowerment and entertainment to audiences now as the Charmed did during its eight-season run from 1998-2006 starring Shannen Doherty (seasons 1-3), Holly Marie Combs (seasons 1-8), Alyssa Milano (seasons 1-8), and Rose McGowan (seasons 4-8), but with a modern twist. Ahead of the new Charmed, here is everything you need to know about Elemental Charmed:
5. The Premise
In early 2018, after what seemed like years of rumors about the show coming back, The CW finally announced it had ordered a pilot for a Charmed reboot, specifically asking the original creator of the series to write the story and choose the writers. The logline from the network for the series reads: "Set in Salem, MA, and follows two sisters who discover that they, along with their grandmother, mother, and aunt, are a family of witches who discover that between protecting those innocent of the knowledge of magic from the denizens of evil magic while maintaining familial bonds and outside jobs, a witch’s work is never done.” Rather than Halliwell, their family name is Warren, honoring Charmed's Melinda Warren, the first Warren to be born in America. But unlike Charmed, these Warren women really have kept their maiden name...
4. Their Powers
Rather than a Power of Three, we have a unit of five based around the five elements, Earth, Water, Fire, Air, and Spirit. Each Warren will be able to tap into her own element, which will allow her to do things that the non-magical and other witches cannot. Their symbol isn't the triquetra but the pentagram.

Don't know if you find it annoying, in regards to the hash tags for Charmed with social media, getting used for both Classic Charmed and Reboot Charmed. It's unfair for fans who like either, to have to see stuff for the other, especially non-reboot fans. And you can't not unsee it.
Unlike here, Elemental Charmed would be a hash tag, and Charmed. Letting both be separate.
3. Differences
There are several other distinct changes between the classic and the reboot. While the classic series was based in San Francisco, the new series is set in Salem so it can bring up the infamous witch trials. Also with two sets of sisters - one of one set the mother of the other set - the series will focus on not just sisters, but all types of relationship with mother-daughters, grandmother-grandchildren, and niece-aunt. Although the names will sound familiar: Prudence (never Prue!), Patience (never Patty!), Paige, Piper and Phoebe (never Phoebs), their last name is Warren and Prudence is the matriarch while Patience and Paige are her daughters and Piper and Phoebe are Patience's daughters. They're also each from a different generation: Prudence is 70; Patience is 50; Paige is 40; Piper is 30 and Phoebe is 20. This is quite different from most The CW projects and The CW is very curious to see how it all works out.

2. The Trailer
After announcing the reboot in early 2018, no one expected the series to be ready for the Fall 2018 TV season. But The CW went full steam ahead into development, and on May 17, 2018 the first trailer was released. Warren Manor is noticeably similar to Halliwell Manor, with some slight differences, including an obvious attic and painted grey rather than pink. It first gives us a glimpse of the lives of the three older Warrens before Patience's daughters' father is killed in San Francisco where the younger set lives, leading to the younger set discovering their own powers and their family's destiny as the Elemental Witches.
The trailer not only introduced the new Elemental Witches but also revealed that their own family book of shadows (not The Family book of shadows) still plays a major part, along with the matriarch's premonitions. Also back are warlocks, which will play a much larger part in this new take – in this series, witches who kill non-magicals (not mortals, since the Warrens and warlocks are also mortals) become warlocks and warlocks who save an innocent become witches - and in this series, innocents are non-magicals who are innocent of the existence of magic - and protecting innocents from all sorts of other supernatural evils, including the Demonesses of...
Yes, unlike the classic series, this one is truly female-centric.

I also like that if a witch kills a non-magical, she becomes a warlock, and a warlock who saves an innocent becomes a witch. I really think that concept should have been used on Charmed, because it would help fix Cole, so he could change, but, I don't know, he was 120 years old, so it might be hard to change with that much evildoing for so long.
1. Premiere Date
Following the release of the official trailer, everyone wanted to know when the series would finally hit the air, and The CW made an interesting decision. Elemental Charmed will premiere on Sunday, October 14, 2018, capitalizing off the theme of witches and the supernatural with the fall/Halloween season. Sunday night can be a dangerous choice for a new series, but the network slotted the premiere at 9 p.m. which is prime time, and also placed it after the hit series 'Superwoman', making Sunday nights the ultimate girl-power nights on the network.

Charmed stars offer their support to "Elemental Charmed'"
Rose McGowan, the actress who played half-sister Paige in the Charmed series after the departure of Shannen Doherty, has given the go-ahead to the reboot. The actress has posted a message on Twitter: "I wish everyone the best. I have no problem with the reboot. Fly, women, fly."
McGowan revealed, "Hearing that Constance Burge is going to be the executive producer, I feel the reboot is in good hands. I never got to work with her - never even met her - but after all, she created the original story. So I have full faith in her for taking care of her baby. I'm so excited that Charmed fans can identify with the older stars while a new generation can get attached to the two younger stars and grow up with good role models for the world we live in today."
"But," she added, "I also fully supported Holly Marie Combs about the feelings and honor of Charmed."

Indeed, Holly Marie Combs (who played Piper Halliwell in the Charmed series) has since changed her tune when she was informed that the series is now in the capable hands of Constance Burge. "I got worked up because Charmed has a special place in my heart, but then I found out that Connie and Sheryl and Paul and Chris and Zach are behind this project, and the reboot is much different than the ones that CBS tried to foist on fans earlier. This concept is very good - taking what we did with a show about three sisters who happen to be witches and making it about three generations of a family who happen to be witches. Then again, I've been known to get worked up over anything. (laughs) So I wish them well, and I truly mean that."
"I’m just glad that it’s here finally because we’ve been hearing about this reboot for however many years, what has it been, maybe four years now?” Alyssa Milano (who played Phoebe Halliwell in the Charmed series) mentioned in an interview. “And I feel like it’s either going to succeed or not, and if it succeeds again, a whole new generation will be exposed to the beauty of what Charmed was able to be for people, and if it doesn’t succeed, then we don’t have to hear about it anymore.”

Shannen Doherty (who played Prue Halliwell in the Charmed series) revealed at an event in Santa Monica for "Stand Up to Cancer" her thoughts on the reboot: “I think it's great. I think it's awesome, especially because Connie’s in charge and there’s no signs of Brad Kern.” Kern was the showrunner on Charmed and has since been fired from CBS-TV for sexual harassment, something he was known to do during Charmed and has been blamed by fans for Doherty’s early depature.
Doherty also had nothing but praise for Burge.“I think second lives are amazing, so I'm all for it… I'm happy to see that Charmed is back in Connie's hands, that back then the show was all about strong women who supported and loved each other, and now it's coming back again in this day and age. Connie was so great the first time around, and I'm sure she'll be just as great the second time. It's about female empowerment again -- not that that's something new. Charmed originally was that too. I find the Elemental Charmed story from what I hear to be very interesting, and I especially like the take of making it about family and not just sisters. It added an interesting element that I think will allow it to stand on its own. I'm so excited for Connie and her team and wish them all the best."
Milano added: "I’ve always admired Connie for the story she crafted back in 1998, and what led me to get the best job I ever had. I'm excited to see what she has installed for us this time around."
Elemental Charmed will premiere Sunday, October 14 on The CW.

Charmed Reboot Elemental Charmed Hits New York Comic Con and also teases the Charmed's 20-year-anniversary special
EXCLUSIVE: Attendees at this year’s New York Comic Con are going to feel seriously Charmed with an early look at The CW reboot from Charmed's creator Connie Burge.
The new version of the late 1990s supernatural sibling WB series is set to debut on October 14th, but I’ve learned that NYCC fans will get to see the first full episode of Elemental Charmed, a week beforehand.
Already having previewed at San Diego Comic-Con in July, the slightly-redone Sheryl J. Anderson and Paul Ruditis penned opener that’s screening at the Hammerstein Ballroom on October 7 at 1:30 PM ET has some added significance at NYCC, at least in terms of timing. The preview coincides with the 20th anniversary of Charmed, which first hit the air on October 7, 1998. Also scheduled is a panel with on-screen Warren family members TBC1, TBC2, TBC3, TBC4 and TBC5.
TBC1 who portrays Prudence, the matriarch of the family, has said, ”My first Comic-Con ever. I was really nervous. But I'm glad that I have the support of my cast members. I never dreamed that at my age, I'd be a star at these events."
TBC5, who portrays Phoebe, the youngest Warren, was a little more star-struck being in the same room as other well-known names. "I've gone to these events as a fan, and now I'm being greeted by fans. It's so surreal."
Connie Burge has also teased that the upcoming tribute to the classic series set to air on October 7th is going to be wonderful, as in full of wonder. "Sheryl, Chris, Zack (note: the writers of the series who were also writers for Charmed.) and I all sat down and we each contributed some to it. But I'm so excited for fans to be able to see the real star power trio together who are the anchors for the hour-long tribute. We’re also happy that fans will get to see pieces of a few of the episode in HD for the first time."
"I haven’t seen them myself, but I've heard the remasters have come out very nicely,” Burge added, sounding very impressed that fans will get a chance to honor their original work that inspired the new series in true magical style.
Also like SDCC, the core cast of Elemental Charmed will be on hand at the screening as well as an autograph session at the sprawling Javits Center later that last day of NYCC 2018 at 3 PM ET.

Charmed’s "The Complete First Season" Blu-ray release to be celebrated with a two-day promotional launch!
As The CW mounts a reboot of the long-running fantasy dramedy Charmed with the dark fantasy drama, Elemental Charmed, CBS Home Entertainment is releasing the original series on Blu-ray for the first time.
The trailer above gives a breakdown of how the quality changed from the standard-definition releases that have been available in the past to the HD release coming soon.
Charmed aired for eight seasons on The WB starting in 1998, and starred Shannen Doherty, Holly Marie Combs and Alyssa Milano as sisters who happened to be witches.
With a brand-new remastered Blu-ray for the cult Charmed, a series reboot, and another high-profile rebooted witch series (The Chilling Adventures of Sabrina) all coming up soon, it seems there has never been a better time, strategically speaking, to make Charmed available again. 2018 really is the Season of the Witch!
The first season of the Charmed series will be having its HD release, appropriately enough, the day before Halloween on October 30.
And to celebrate the launch, fans in LA will be treated to a two-day promotional event on October 29th and 30th.
For the first time since the last episode of Charmed was filmed, the stars who played three sisters who happened to be witches - Shannen Doherty, Holly Marie Combs and Alyssa Milano - will be appearing onstage together. Despite past problems, all three got along well during the filming of the 20th anniversary special that will also be shown, but that was in-studio filmed.
Brian Krause, Ted King, Dorian Gregory, Jennifer Rhodes, Finola Hughes, Tyler Layton, Neil Roberts, Leigh-Allyn Baker and Carlos Gomez will be among the other guests appearing at a yet-to-be disclosed location in LA for a launch party to help celebrate the release, with a special signing each day and a press event the day of the release.
Others might have attended, but since the celebration and launch party will only honor the cast and crew involved in the first season, only those were invited. This is especially true of fan favorites Rose McGowan, Julian McMahon and Drew Fuller, but all have shown full support for the upcoming Elemental Charmed series on their social media pages, with all three hoping for a chance to appear on the series.
CBS-TV decided on a two-day event because some of the guests could only make it for a single day due to previous commitments. The actual schedule will be released later, but CBS-TV assured fans that the three stars will be part of both days' events.
"Charmed: the Complete First Season" will be released as a 5-disc set in Blu-Ray on October 30th, 2018.

Charmed Reboot Pilot Review: Elemental Charmed series is off to a magical, exciting start.
Critics have gained access to the first two episodes of the new Charmed reboot and have offered their thoughts on Elemental Charmed.
Over a decade after the classic series aired its finale, Charmed returns to The CW on October 14 with a new take on the beloved fantasy drama. Instead of focusing on three sisters who have the Power of Three, this time it focuses on two sisters, their mother, their aunt and their grandmother, while incorporating the natural elements: Air, Earth, Fire, Water and Spirit.
Connie Burge, who created Charmed, has developed the new version. In this new take, the main thing that it has going for it is the common bonds of family spread out between all five women. Rather than focusing on three sisters who happen to be witches, it focuses on five family members who happen to be witches, navigating different family dynamics, jobs, saving innocents and protecting the world from supernatural threats.
The chemistry between Piper and Phoebe, Patience and Paige, Prudence and her daughters is very strong, and they all play off each other nicely, creating a believable family, parent and sisterly bond. This isn’t quite as true for Patience and her daughters, but that just makes it more realistic when we find that while Prudence and her daughters, Patience and Paige, were living the life of modern witches in Salem, MA, the series begins with the youngest members of the family, Piper and Phoebe, living a somewhat ordinary life in San Francisco, CA, where they were raised by their father, Victor Bennett.
But back in Salem, their grandmother Prudence has a premonition that kick-starts all the drama and sets the stage for Piper and Phoebe to accept their destiny as two of the Elemental Witches.
What was met with praise by the critics was the way the backstory let the viewer believe the reason why these two sisters who have powers were raised by their non-magical father rather than their magical relatives, although the critics were all certain that some pieces of the backstory were left unexplained, obviously for later in the series to deal with.
What was also met with praise was how easily the names so familiar to Charmed fans fit these new witches, even if they aren’t played by the original actors and are playing different roles. But their personalities are so similar to their Charmed counterparts that this as an alternate universe with different rules just made sense.
The whole first episode focuses on Piper and Phoebe understanding their destiny and embracing it. The second episode, which was also gained early access by critics, is more an adjustment period as the older Warrens settle Piper and Phoebe into their new home in Warren Manor in small-town Salem after growing up in big-city San Francisco.
What was also very different than Charmed but made the experience interesting is the fact that there was no traces of any potential love interests during the first two episodes. Truly, this should allow the viewers to get to know our five stars better, which will help viewers figure out if this show is for them, and if these characters are worth the following week to week.
Elemental Charmed is a series that is off to a very exciting start while still just fun to watch. The performances are uniformly solid, the story is interesting and by being totally female-centric with the exception of two dead husbands and one male warlock who is vanquished in the first episode but seems to have a bigger role in the family, a true focus on female empowerment. Most fans (and critics) agree that it took Charmed a few weeks to find its footing. We plan on hanging around for a few more weeks and get a sense for whether its reboot does the same or stumbles.

Elemental Charmed Review: CW Reboot Casts A Spell On Both Older and Newer Generations
SPOILER ALERT: This article contains details about the pilot episode of Elemental Charmed.
In 1998, The WB released Charmed, a fantastically witchy fantasy series where three sisters discover they have powers of the occult — but the good kind. Fast-forward 20 years later and The WB is now The CW and the sisters – now a matriarch, her two daughters and her two granddaughters - are back in a reboot that is in the center of a Venn diagram between 1998 and 2018. It feels fresh enough to appeal to the millennial generation, while also feeling like something out of the late 90’s which should appeal to Charmed fans. Seems appropriate since late ’90s nostalgia is circling back on the trend cycle with so many reboots, especially on The CW and its parent network, CBS-TV.

Elemental Charmed, The CW’s reboot of Charmed, debuts on Oct. 14. It will also celebrate the 20th anniversary of its predecessor with an exclusive sneak peek of its pilot during New York Comic-Con on Oct. 8, which happens to be one day after the original premiered in 1998. Charmed fans attending the con will be able to celebrate the actual anniversary with both a special that offers a retrospective look at the show's legacy, along with a rebroadcasting of Charmed’s pilot episode, the first time a Charmed episode will be broadcasted in HD.
I remember Dailies for Charmed leaked on Youtube, but now they are gone, CBS told them to take them down. Oh well, I liked them because they had deleted scenes in them.
Connie Burge, who created Charmed, created this new version. Rather than focusing on just three sisters who happen to be witches, this one centers around five family members who happen to be witches. What also makes it different than its predecessor is the absence of male co-stars—in the Year of the Woman, the opening credits only show the actresses who play the five Warrens: TBC1, known for her role in TBD, who plays matriarch Prudence Warren; TBC2, known for her role in TBD, who plays her older daughter, Patience Warren; TBC3, known for her role in TBD, who plays her younger daughter, Paige Warren, and newcomers TBC4, who plays Patience’s older daughter, Piper Warren, and TBC5 who plays Patience’s younger daughter, Phoebe Warren. Yes, Charmed fans, the names sound familiar, as do the personalities—a nod to Charmed--but all five are playing totally different roles.
The series begins with a shot of Warren Manor, which looks much like Halliwell Manor except it’s grey rather than pink and has a noticeable attic, then we go inside to be introduced to Prudence, Patience and Paige, who we discover are witches with powers as they discuss mixing potions, writing spells and saving innocents—humans who have no knowledge of the reality of magic. This appears to be just an ordinary day for these three witches when suddenly matriarch Prudence has a premonition through her Spirit Element: a warlock attacking her granddaughters, leading to the opening credits, followed by aerial views first of Salem and then San Francisco as the guest credits roll.
Then we see Piper coming home from running her restaurant at the same time that Phoebe comes back from taking a college exam. They are greeted at the front door by their father, Victor. Through their discussion, we discover that Victor has no powers (yes, Charmed fans, that sounds familiar…) while the girls have no idea that they do.
Suddenly the warlock appears and kills Victor just before Prudence, Patience and Paige appear, courtesy of Paige using her Air Element to transport them to California. After dispatching the warlock, Patience first comforts her terrified daughters and then explains to them something they never knew: they come from a long matriarchal line of witches.
If the two younger ones accept their own powers and destiny, the five of them will become the Elemental Witches, a set of witches who by controlling the elements can protect those innocent of the existence of magic from evil magic by vanquishing warlocks and all sorts of supernatural threats. That’s a lot of responsibility — not to mention crazy for two young women who only this morning did not know that witches even exist. That said, the pilot focuses on the two sisters learning to accept their destiny, and it isn't an easy ride.
During all of this, we can easily see the close relationship between Patience and Paige, between Piper and Phoebe, even between Prudence and her daughters, due to the chemistry between the actresses, but not so much between Patience and her daughters, but given the backstory, that makes sense.
During the rest of this first chapter of this reboot, Piper and Phoebe try to forget what their mother told them as they help their family prepare their father’s wake and funeral, even as the younger set of sisters consider moving to Salem and leaving their lives in San Francisco behind them.
The episode concludes with the funeral service for Victor. The service is crowded with mourners, obviously Victor was well-known and well loved. We find that Andrea Halliwell (recurring guest star TBC6), Prudence's dead husband’s twin sister and Patience's favorite aunt, has made the trip. It was nice to see the characters receiving some comfort from loved ones and friends.
What surprises us is that there are no men with their arms around one of the Warrens. We realize that we’ve yet to see any sign of a love interest outside of Allen, Patience’s dead husband, and Victor, who has just died. No, in this series, the focus will always be on the five Warren women, not their men.
We watch the long, slow drive to the Californian cemetery and the service at the gravesite, as we see flashbacks of Patience’s life with Victor in Salem, the decision for them to pretend to divorce so that after binding the girls’ powers and erasing memories of them from 10-year-old Piper’s memory (baby Phoebe is too young to have any), Victor moves them across country.
After everyone leaves the cemetery, Piper and Phoebe are watching as their father’s coffin is lowered into its grave. After a moment of tearful silence, they inform their mother, their aunt and their grandmother that they are ready to accept their powers and the decision to relocate back to Salem.
The first episode ends a couple of days after the funeral service, with Piper and Phoebe standing outside Warren Manor with their mother, suitcases in hand. Prudence opens the front door and she and Paige come outside, arms spread, saying welcome. Both Piper and Phoebe step into their arms and then Patience embraces them all.
We kept waiting for the five of them to step aside while wondering which Warren will use her power to close the door, but suddenly we found ourselves up in the Warren attic, looking at a close-up of the Warren family book of shadows (not The Book of Shadows…) and the Pentagram on its cover lights up. This means that unlike Charmed, Elemental Charmed won’t begin and end each season with the typical Manor door closing. It was a welcomed surprise.
Elemental Charmed brings back a familiar feeling of fantasy-driven television — the same feeling you felt when you watched the lineup on The CW back when it was called The WB. It felt very much of the 90s popular hits. Instead of trying to reinvent the wheel, it just keeps the general bullet points of the original series, but making enough changes so it doesn't feel like a complete rip-off, had it just focused on three sisters again. Also leaving out any signs of love interests allowed us to really get to know what is important to the series...the relationship of the five main characters: not just sister/sister but mother/daughter, grandmother/granddaughter, aunt/niece. Female empowerment is back with a twist, and it seems relevant more now than ever.
It didn't feel like a complete rip-off to me.
Very great pilot. If I was grading, I'd give it a 5/5 or an A+ from reading this.

The first episode of the new series will run on The CW Sunday, Oct 14th, just in time for witchy Halloween vibes and a solid boost of female fun to take us into November. Below, six things to know before tuning in.
It’s a show rooted in family, embracing three generations, the Baby Boomers, Generation X and Millennials.
Although The CW originally wanted a new series about three sisters with three different fathers who discover they are witches and that would be all about female empowerment and taking down the patriarchy and simply called Charmed, this idea angered so many classic Charmed fans (who the network hoped would embrace the idea) that The CW trashed that idea and instead turned to Connie Burge, who created the classic version, to come up with a new concept. Originally she wanted to do a prequel of the original Halliwell sisters story, but again fans insisted that it was much too soon for a series like that. Instead Burge came up with a different family with similar names but a different set-up - a Baby Boomer matriarch, her two Generation X daughters and her two Millennial granddaughters.

Instead Burge came up with a different family with similar names but a different set-up - a Baby Boomer matriarch, her two Generation X daughters and her two Millennial granddaughters.
Rather than taking on the issues of the day, which would've quickly dated the series, Burge used the same ideas that made Charmed a classic - a fantasy series that allows viewers to sit back and forget the outside world for an hour - but this time they get to watch how the different generations reacts to and solves a problem. The show’s five lead actors TBC1 who plays matriarch Prudence, TBC2 who plays her older daughter Patience, TBC3, who plays her younger daughter, Paige, TBC4 who plays Patience's older daughter Piper, and TBC5 who plays Patience's younger daughter, Phoebe, described this element of the series as “fascinating.”
TBC1 talked about how important it is to her that the series has a “point of view and a voice for my generation, the Baby Boomers," adding that "typically my generation rarely appear in a fantasy drama and usually doesn't have much of a role, and either end up dead or already are dead, like Charmed's Grams and Patty. (she laughs). It's nice to play someone who's alive and can truly be he leader of the family, even if her power isn't used to fight the villains."
TBC3 added, "And my generation, the Generation Xers who grew up watching Charmed, haven't been forgotten either. Both TBC2 and I are hoping that by representing them, that it will allow more than just the typical Millennials who usually watch shows on The CW and by including TBC4 and TBC5, will encourage them to watch with their children or grandchildren."
TBC2 described the show’s "consciousness” as being one of the chief things that drew her to the series. "You have all the different generation groups having a voice. Baby Boomers, Generation X, Millennials - even Generation Z. They remind me of me watching Charmed. It was a show about young women, but as a young teenager, I wanted to grow up to be just like them. That's what we're hoping for with this. It truly is a show for any female, and is the perfect way to bring together fans who watched Charmed when it was first aired, those who found it through the reruns, and those who have never heard of Charmed, but want to watch a show about a family of strong women who happen to be witches.”
It might not be a series for everyone.
Because there are no male stars, this series may not be for viewers who want a lot of romance in their shows. Although there might be some later on, as of the second episode, there is no traces of any potential love interests. So far the only male warlock (we've yet to see a demon...) we've seen was killed in the first episode. There seems to be something more to him, but it's definitely not something that will lead to romance.
Instead, the ideal audience, according to TBC5, is all females, especially high-school girls and college girls who can watch it with their mothers who were fans of Charmed, and if their grandmother wants to watch with them, too, all the better. The hope is that it’s a show moms and daughters can enjoy together, something to get them all up in those good family feelings without all of the complications a romantic relationship can add to a family.
The CW has never done a series that doesn't begin with love interests and the network is very curious to see how it is received.

This is a dark, gritty kind of reboot.
Elemental Charmed's pilot makes clear that it will be dealing with the intense emotional territory. It’s a show about family, about emotions and friendship and rivalry and grief. Unlike some fantasy series that doesn't take the fantasy aspect seriously, this one does because the actors do with their reactions, truly making viewers wonder if all five Warrens will survive the episode. That’s part of the cross-generational appeal — the goal is for the show to be one you want to watch with your mom, not one that’s going to make you feel uncomfortable, while also concentrating on typical problems any family faces in daily life, with the action taking place at a crime scene (Patience works as a forensic photographer), Salem Social Services (Paige is a full social worker), Piper's restaurant (she does all the cooking), or Phoebe's college (she's a freshman who works on the school paper) as Warren Manor.

There are lots of warlocks and a little sprinkle of other supernatural threats
And they’re tough to act with! TBC2, TBC3, TBC4 and TBC5 all described this as one of the most challenging aspects of the production because so many of the big, tense scenes involve magic and special effects that are added afterward. They described the action sequences as “a choreography,” something that also requires trust. It’s also something they’re still working out the kinks on. TBC5, whose character Phoebe has control over the elemental power of fire, mentioned that they experimented with how she first finds out that she can control fire in different ways, and they’re still trying to figure out the best system for how to use it.
TBC3 added, "Controlling my Element power of Air is so much fun. When it's time to go home, I often imagine teleporting myself home from the set - it would save so much time!"

The main production team includes those who worked on the first few seasons of Charmed
As mentioned earlier, Connie Burge, who created Charmed, is the executive producer of Elemental Charmed, and she brought some of the writers from the first three seasons of Charmed to Elemental Charmed:. Although Elemental Charmed will have a different vibe than the original, much of it will still feel familiar to Charmed viewers. The big change comes to the series not being just about three sisters who happen to be witches, but five family members who happen to be witches. It’s a mix of fantasy, drama and emotionally-intense stories that will find viewers sighing with relief as the ending credits run.

It will be a balance of warlock and supernatural threats of the week and ongoing mysteries.
According to its five lead actresses, the new series will replicate Charmed's tension between solving an ongoing mystery and introducing supernatural threats-of-the-week characters who need dispatching in each episode, in addition to innocents of the week - and in this case, innocents are those who are innocent of the reality of magic, so they're not all goody two-shoes. Hopefully, that will put the new series in a sweet spot of serial storytelling that’s becoming all-too-rare for TV, shows that play with both episodic structure and season-length mysteries. It’s more fun when there are demons (or in this reboot warlocks) around who need vanquishing.

The ongoing mystery regarding Paige and her long-dead daughter is briefly touched on and, TB3 adds with a smile, is something that will come back into play throughout the series.

The CW's Charmed Reboot: Elemental Charmed reception shows the series might be a success
The Power of Three was reconstituted Sunday as the Power of Five Elements as two young sisters watched as their family took down the warlock who killed their father before discovering a magical legacy and making the decision to rejoin their family to become the Elemental Witches, the new Charmed Ones.
Elemental Charmed, The CW’s reboot of Charmed, had its opening debut on Oct. 14, and came back with very positive responses by fans and critics alike. The reboot trended at number 2 on Twitter, right behind Sunday Night Football.
TBC5, who portrays Phoebe, the youngest Warren, was a star-struck, chatting to fans on her Twitter and live-tweeting along with both new and old fans, most of whom were calling her Phoebe rather than TBC5. She had these words to say to the fans: "Thank you so much for joining us at the beginning of our journey as Elemental Witches. I hope you continue to follow us as we share more stories about these five magical women."
TBC1, who portrays Prudence, the oldest Warren, does not have a social media account but was watching the first episode alongside TBC3, who portrays Paige, while following her account and the two were blown away by the incredible response to Elemental Charmed.
One fan, asked TBC5, "Which episode are you most excited for us to see?" TBC5's Twitter response: "Episode 3 and 4. Just you wait to see what happens!"

Elemental Charmed creator sits down to chat with us about the first episode and the feedback from viewers and critics
Executive producer Constance M. Burge discuss the response to the series, and why she decided to help bring Charmed back.
CBS Production has been trying to reboot Charmed since 2013. When and how did you finally come on board?
I was approached to do it by CBS Productions in 2017, after two earlier attempts didn't come out the way they wanted. I was intrigued with the idea of reinventing Charmed. I really liked what Paul Ruditis did with witches who could control the Elements in his Charmed novel, "The Brewing Storm", so I decided to pitch the idea of turning the Charmed Ones into Elementals Witches, and the network gave me the green light to try writing the story. When they gave me the thumbs up to try turning it into a script, I immediately asked Paul to join the project. He agreed but he wanted someone who was part of early Charmed, when I was an executive producer, and I immediately thought of Sheryl J. Anderson and the way she portrayed the Halliwells. She also jumped at the chance. Had either turned the project down, I don't think I would've agreed to continue. They wrote the pilot script and did a fantastic job.

I think that is so much fun. Love hearing the thought process on creating EC, and yes, I'm in this universe now, enjoying it.
How did you decide to make this series about Elemental Witches rather than just rebooting Charmed with just three sisters?
Actually originally I did have it be the three sisters, Prue, Piper and Phoebe, with them just controlling Earth, Fire and Water. I'm sure that's part of how I got CBS Productions to let me try. But both Paul and Sheryl thought that in the updated version we'd want to be different than what was previously done. They thought the series would work better if we had five witches, one to control each element. But five sisters just seemed to be too much, so that's when they suggested turning it into a family of a matriarch, her two daughters and one of the daughters' two daughters. As soon as they suggested that, the idea of this being about a family with three generations appealed to me so much. I just wasn't sure if The CW would agree - it's so different than what is usually shown on that network - until Paul reminded me that The WB's most popular show once Buffy jumped to The UPN was a show about a family - 7th Heaven. So, we tried and fortunately The CW decided to give it a try. The network was very supportive regarding the idea of one of our leads being in her early ‘70s, not a younger actress made up to look older.

So glad the network was supportive.
What was your process for staffing the writers' room?
She laughs Well, after Sheryl and Paul's pilot script was accepted, I had to ask them. I adored Sheryl J. Anderson's version of the Charmed Ones on Charmed - she wrote most of my own favorite episodes - and I love how Paul Ruditis wrote the Charmed Ones in both his novels and the Charmed comic books - they're how I'd imagine Prue, Piper and Phoebe would be had Prue not died. But I knew we'd need more than that and for the more dramatic episodes of Charmed, I didn't think anyone did it better than the team of Chris Levinson and Zach Estrin. It didn't surprise me when neither would come onboard if the other wasn't asked. (she laughs) Of course, due to deadlines, I doubt if only those five will write all of the episodes, but we'll all edit the other scripts to make sure that everything remains consistent - when talking Charmed I've heard the word "inconsistency" too often. We're determined not to have that happen to Elemental Charmed.

The pilot has been met with such good responses. How do you feel about that?
I admit that I was very nervous, since I knew we have something quite a bit different than the previous incarnations that were in development. Sometimes differences are accepted; sometimes they're not. And this is different: it is fresh; it has a range of different personalities. It's tackling family issues but from the points of view across three generations - it's not just about young people. But it has a great mix of fantasy, and it focuses on a family who happen to be witches. I had no idea what viewers would think, but I'm totally blown away by the great response.
We wanted Elemental Charmed to bring back the familiar feeling of fantasy-driven television — that same feeling you felt when you watched the lineup on The CW back when it was called The WB. I'm so glad that what we hoped to achieve has paid off.

I really am loving these Deadline articles more and more.
How much interaction did you have with the original Charmed stars while producing this series?
Although they have been conflicted in the past, I think once they saw that Sheryl, Paul and I were in charge and then heard what we were doing with Elemental Charmed, they've supported us. In fact, they've asked whether they can make guest appearances. If the show isn't successful, we might have to consider that, but I hope we won't have to. We want this one to be able to stand on its own feet, the reason we decided to call it Elemental Charmed rather than just Charmed.

Can we expect any Easter Eggs for viewers of the original series in this series?
Oh, yes. Warren Manor. The family book of shadows with a Pentagram on the cover. The names of the characters, their personalities, the powers, they're all nods to Charmed. And other names of characters will sound familiar, too, even if the characters are totally different. But as I said, we don't want to have too many. I want this show to stand on its own two feet and not rely too heavily on what was seen on Charmed. Although I have to admit that we do have one upcoming episode that will have a few winks to Charmed.

What was it like to celebrate the Charmed anniversary?
The original writers and I had so much fun getting to be involved in last week's retrospective look. When the original first-season stars agreed to be part of the interviews, I didn't think they'd want us and we were all thrilled to be part of it. I know how much it meant to the fans that the stars were able to put aside their differences in order to honor what came before, especially before the reboot got going. I was so glad when I learned that it would debut the following week.

The CW's Elemental Charmed Conjures Up Strong Ratings for The CW
Elemental Charmed was part of The CW's first Sunday-night programming in 10 years and put up larger-than-expected numbers opposite the highest-rated 'Sunday Night Football' in more than a year.
The series actually beat its lead-in Supergirl's ratings.
Both shows delivered good ratings among adults 18-49 — tied for first among CW shows in the network's opening week with Riverdale and Supernaturaltied for third.. Elemental Charmed brought in almost twice as many viewers as its lead-in in total viewers (3.52 million vs. 1.53 million for Supergirl), and The CW's core Adult 18-34 demo (2.0 vs. 1.2). It was the highest-rated new series on The CW in quite some time, which is very unusual for a Sunday show.

Season 1, Episode 2: ”Back Home Again”
THE WARRENS ARE REUNITED IN SALEM. While still mourning the death of their father and getting used to the idea that they are part of a family of witches with powers, Piper and Phoebe move to their family’s ancestral home in Salem, MA. Piper has sold her restaurant in San Francisco and is now looking for a new restaurant in Salem. Paige thinks she should name it ‘Piper’s Brew’ but Piper doesn’t think that’s funny. In the meantime, Phoebe registers for classes at Salem College, happy that her credits have all transferred. Both decide to follow the family tradition and rather than being Piper Bennett and Phoebe Bennett, they are now Piper Warren and Phoebe Warren.
But not everything goes as well. Piper is used to living in her own apartment and Phoebe has lived in the dorms since she started college. Finding out that they are going to have to share a room, something they’ve never had to do, does not make either happy. But when both run into a warlock and they need their grandmother’s, mother’s and aunt’s help to vanquish her, they realize why Patience and Paige have always lived with their mother.

For the coveted adult 18-49 The CW's Elemental Charmed was down .1 percent from its reboot debut last week, while its lead-in Supergirl, was down .5 percent. Already critics are wondering if moving Supergirl to Sunday night was a mistake.
Overall, Elemental Charmed (3.75 mil/2.1) was up 17 percent from its reboot debut. This makes it still the highest performing new series for the network for the year.
Viewers and critics alike have praised the second episode, which was said to be even stronger than the pilot episode. It will be interesting to see how the reboot's first season performs as the television season progresses.
The CW will likely announce a full-season order for Elemental Charmed in the coming weeks.

Elemental Charmed Celebrates Halloween in typical Warren style
Things are gettin' spooky on the CW's new iteration of Charmed.
The show is celebrating Halloween this week with a big Halloween party (duh). There's also a warlock (of course there is, and of course she's female - that's taken some getting used to, but it's fun and helps make the show female-centric in a way Charmed never was.) on the loose, meaning those costumes had better be practical for warlock-chasing.
Deadline was on set for the Halloween party and got the scoop on the soiree. Because, naturally, in typical Warren fashion, their party doesn't go without some drama.
At one point, Phoebe stumbles upon a vase from her ancestor that releases an ancient curse. TBC5 said in an on-set interview "This was one episode I had so much fun filming"
"We're in the midst of a Halloween party, enjoying ourselves, when of course my onscreen granddaughter cannot help herself," TBC1 says. "Prudence cannot stop her before Phoebe accidentally reads the inscription on the ancient vase, releasing an ancient curse."
"The episode plot was so creative, with what the curse does to each of the Warrens and their daily lives," TBC3 added. 'And it's a throwback to one of my favorite Charmed episodes, "Sense and Sense-Ability", although naturally, the curse hits us Warrens differently than it did the Halliwells, because only my onscreen grandmother is at the Manor. The rest of us are at work, except Phoebe who's in a class. And it's all pretty serious and scary, not funny like that one."
"I loved my Halloween costume", TBC4 smiled, noting that the show's costume designer went all out in style. "So different than what Piper usually wears."
You can see Elemental Charmed get a little wild this Sunday and hear more from the cast in the video above. Be sure to check out our interview with the costume designer, too.
Elemental Charmed airs Sundays at 9 p.m. on the CW.

Prudence is too late to stop Phoebe, when she accidentally reads the inscription on the ancient vase, releasing an ancient curse. Oh now, what will this mean?
Great preview getting me excited to read the episode.

Those poor sisters, but I can only imagine Victor's death, and moving to Salem, they did truly forget.
I'm glad she is making up for it. And doing a joint party on Halloween.
While looking in the attic for possible party favors, Piper stumbles on an antique vase. Prudence smiles when she sees it, explaining that it once belonged to their ancestor, Mary Ann Warren, the first Warren to be born in America.
At the party, both Paige and Phoebe are properly surprised, and the party goes well until before Prudence can stop her, Phoebe accidentally reads the inscription on the vase, releasing an ancient curse.
The next day, Phoebe loses her sense of sight in the middle of an important college exam; Piper loses her sense of taste while testing her cooking at work, Paige loses her sense of hearing and can't hear a word her latest client at work says; Patience loses her sense of touch and can't pick up her camera, while Prudence, home by herself, loses her voice so when a warlock attacks, she's unable to call for help.

Meanwhile, when two employees give Piper a hard time, Piper contemplates a little harmless spell to get back at them which her aunt, Paige, accidentally encourages, before both realize they’ve made a huge mistake. Elemental Charmed gets full order for 22-episode first season on The CW
Following the airing of the show's first three episodes, CBS Studios, which owns The CW. has officially ordered a back-nine order of 9 episodes for the freshman fantasy drama series.
Charles Smith, the president of CBS Studios spoke at a recent press interview: "I'm very pleased with the results of Elemental Charmed. As we hoped, it has connected with new and old fans alike, and has become a success. We hoped the series would also connect with a much older crowd, not just the younger crowd who usually watch The CW. We have a few older women among our main cast, and our aim is that the people who watched the original series will be able to relate and that their mothers and children might also be able to watch and relate."
In an interview, executive producer Constance M. Burge said she couldn't contain her excitement when she got the call from Smith himself. "I was nervous when I got the call - I thought we were already being canceled. So that relief really made my day."

TBC5, who plays Phoebe Warren, said she was blown away by the response. Noting that although she was too young to see the original series, she added, I'm so glad that the show has found a new group of fans, and that old fans of the original series are also following the new series.
Burge said she is already working with her writers on new ideas for future episodes and already has some big storylines for the back nine episodes.”Had we not been given an order of 22 episodes, my plan of attack was to wrap up storylines with the thirteenth episode. I never intended to end the series on a cliffhanger. Although we are currently working on the eleventh episode, I'm so thrilled that our team will be able to produce many more episodes and now we're all back in the writers' room pitching new stories for the back nine episodes."
But one of the most frequently asked questions is always if and when will the Charmed stars appear. Burge reassured fans: "That door isn't closed completely, but we want to focus our energy on viewers getting to know these Warren witches. We don't want to feel like we have to ride the original stars' coattails in order to be a success."

CARINA SAID: The EC team is killing it with very fun plots, and I'm loving the drama, with a fake Patience running loose, and them needing to find the real one.
From the stuff I read about the real reboot, these sound so much more fun and creative, than theirs, from the little I read.
Elemental Charmed set to air Christmas-themed episode this December!
Halloween may be over, but these Elemental witches are not done just yet. The CW's Charmedreboot, Elemental Charmed, has just been picked up for an additional 9 episodes and fans just can't get enough of these Elemental Witches.
If the Elemental Charmed Halloween themed episode wasn't enough to keep you in the holiday spirits, Deadline has just learned that production is currently underway for a Christmas-themed episode set in the first season of Element Charmed!
Executive Producer Connie Burge revealed to the press how excited she was about this special episode: "Charmed never did a Christmas-themed episode - all we got was that wonderfully moving family video the Halliwell sisters watched in an early episode of the first season. So Elemental Charmed’s Christmas-themed episode is going to be a special Christmas present for the fans who helped make it happen. We promise it will be magical, filled with plenty of wonderful family moments."
According to Burge, TBC, who played Victor Bennett, Piper and Phoebe’s late father and Patience’s husband, in the pilot will be back and will be central to the story."We are going to touch on more issues with the family mourning him. This is Piper and Phoebe’s first Christmas without their dad, so we simply cannot ignore that."
The sets are all currently being decorated to go with the Christmas theme. Deadline is currently on-location and set to interview the cast and crew, and the exclusive interviews for the Christmas-themed episode will be released closer to the airing of the episode. So stayed tuned!
New episodes of Elemental Charmed air Sundays at 9/8c on The CW, and the Christmas-themed episode entitled ”The Warrens Who Saved Christmas” will air on December 16th to close out 2018, before the series goes on hiatus and returns January 20th, 2019 for the second half of Season One.

Paige's past will play an 'integral' role in the Elemental Charmed story
Elemental Charmed star TBC3, who plays Paige Warren, the younger daughter of matriarch Prudence, has revealed to a secret to Deadline. ”I can’t wait for the fans to find out about Paige's past which will play an integral role in the story.”
TBC3 told us that as the season goes on, we’ll learn why the two youngest Warrens were raised by their father Victor on the other side of country with no knowledge of magic. To our surprise, it has a lot to do with Paige’s past and the only male warlock the Warrens have faced so far, but according to Executive Producer, Connie Burge, it’s a story they are just not ready to dig deep into yet:
"With us now having a full 22-episode season, we'll really be able to slowly build up our own mythology, and you'll discover backstories on all the Warrens as we progress in the series. But Season One, it felt like we needed to get to know the Warrens first: let Piper and Phoebe adjust to living in Salem, let these five women figure out what works for them, especially how to navigate their differences before we started to flesh out stories from the past in more detail."
Indeed, it’s not easy being an Elemental Witch, and that’s something that the two newest to magic, Piper and Phoebe, have discovered. The first half of Season One has been more about adjustment and understanding and knowing how to navigate the relationships between these five Warrens from three different generations than finding out what happened in the past.
“You’ve seen that Piper and Phoebe are still learning,” TBC1, who plays matriarch Prudence, tells Deadline. “They are still learning their craft. They’re not experts yet in how to use their powers or how our family book of shadows works, so it is up to the three older Warrens to teach them, even as those three learn more about the Power of the Elementals, something they never had until the two younger Warrens accepted their powers and their destinies."
TBC2, who plays Patience, Prudence’s daughter and Piper and Phoebe’s mother, smiled. "They’re all very different. And at the same time, it’s like five peas in a pod — they find themselves in tricky situations and all help each other out. The bond between them is growing, although you’ll see in the next few episodes that Victor's passing is still fresh on everyone's mind.”

I love this plot, very fun, and letting Piper's workplace play a big role in it. This Team Charmed Cafe sure knows how to do things more creative than the real one.
Matters take a turn for the worst when the warlock learns that Piper and Paige are witches, and places a hex on the two of them, causing them to become greatly ill. Exclusive Elemental Charmed clip shows the House of Warren at odds...
Two Warrens find themselves living the life of the other? In an exclusive Deadline interview, EC's executive producer, Connie Burge, revealed that this week's story was inspired by an idea one of the writers had in the writer's room. "I'm glad that our show isn't going to just brush off any unresolved issues under the rug, and that all five Warrens are always just happy. We are still in the period of adjustments, Piper and Phoebe are still getting used to everything, so it felt natural that we'd have a situation like this".

When that situation happens during the eighth episode, "A Warren Family Feud", airing this Sunday, December 2nd, on The CW, in typical Warren fashion, another family member cannot resist helping out, but also in typical Warren fashion, it backfires in an unexpected way. We'll also see a spell backfire in a very big way, letting both Warrens take a walk in the other one's shoes, and the other Elemental Witches will have to figure a way to straighten it out.
Watch two exclusive clips below. The first one shows Prudence and Paige trying to meditate an argument Piper and Phoebe are having with their mother Patience, while the second shows Paige casting a spell in the attic to make both Piper and Phoebe feel what the other does. Will this actually help resolve issues or will it just make it worse? We can't wait to find out!

TWO WARRENS TAKE A WALK IN THE OTHER WARREN’S SHOES — When Prudence and Paige try to meditate an argument Piper and Phoebe are having with their mother Patience in the Manor, Phoebe decides to stay overnight with a friend in the college dorms. Later, Patience tries to distract herself with work, Prudence goes to Piper’s restaurant while Paige goes to the dorms to encourage her niece to come home. Prudence explains to one of her granddaughters while Paige explains to one of her nieces about how hard it was for Patience to have Piper and Phoebe sent away across the country, and although Patience never talks much about it, it still hurts. The two youngest Warrens learn much more about the difficulties the three older Warrens had to face, things they’d never really thought about before.

I love it.
Although Piper apologizes to her mother, Phoebe turns her back on her aunt, still wanting to stay in the dorm. Feeling like she’s failed her family, Paige casts a spell so both can feel what the other does, but it backfires – it switches Phoebe’s and Patience's bodies.
When Patience and Phoebe realize what Paige did, they decide to keep it on the down-low and fix the mess themselves, not wanting to get grilled by Prudence. The problem is: how do they fix it if they don’t know which spell Paige used?
While Patience and Phoebe take a walk in each other's shoes, letting them understand each other better, Prudence has a premonition. She sees Paige at SSS, caught up with trying to help two innocent children, who are both actually warlocks, using the disguise of children in order to steal the powers of young witches who have yet to come into their powers. Prudence rushes to warn her daughter, but the warlocks lure them both into a trap.
Having seen so much through her mother’s eyes, Phoebe eventually says sorry to Patience, and she, Patience and Piper start planning a weekly mother-daughters dinner, just for the three of them, every Thursday night at 6 pm in the private dining room at Piper’s restaurant, but her manager will do all of the cooking and serving so Piper won’t have to.
But before they can celebrate this wonderful newfound mother-daughter bonding, the three of them have to rescue the other two Warrens. Will they be able to adapt the spell to put Phoebe and Patience back in their own bodies, so they can properly use their Elemental powers or will these two Elemental Witches be unable to use their own power forever?

Exclusive Elemental Charmed Episode Ten preview: A special Christmas episode is the fall finale!
Last month, Deadline was on location interviewing the cast and crew of Elemental Charmed about their Christmas-themed episode, ”The Warrens Who Saved Christmas”. Now these exclusive on-set interviews are ready to get viewers into the Christmas spirit.
TBC1, TBC2, and TBC4 were all taking a break between takes, talking about how special Christmas meant to them while TBC3 and TBC5 were filming a scene.
TBC1 told us about all about celebrating Christmas as a child back in the early 50s.
TBC2 smiled as she shared how her family would always go all out for Christmas with their front lawn all done up.
TBC4 mentioned how special her uncle and aunts Christmas parties were to her growing up.

TBC4 mentioned how special her uncle and aunts Christmas parties were to her growing up.
Later Deadline asked if the Christmas-themed episode has any Easter Eggs for Charmed fans – their present for the fans. TBC3 confirmed that fans will be treated to one moment that is especially lovely. TBC5 said another moment was the hardest to film, but the most rewarding. TBC1 said the Christmas episode will be filled with plenty of amazing family moments. She hopes it will be a special episode that fans will want to re-watch every Christmas season.
Executive Producer Connie Burge told us that she decided against making the episode a typical Elemental Charmed story with a demon or warlock needing to be vanquished. "It felt so much more natural and exciting to make the story all about the Warrens, and not to include any supernatural villains. I wanted this Christmas story to but be viewed more like a Christmas special that allows us an opportunity to see how the Warrens celebrate the holidays … and also some of the surprises that they encounter along the way."
She smiled. I was so pleased with how Chris Levinson and Zach Estrin wrote such a beautiful, heartwarming story. I cannot wait for everyone to see the episode.
Everyone who’s excited for the Elemental Charmed Christmas episode on The CW in one week’s time, here’s something more to remember: it’s the fall finale! But the episode should prove to be just what we need before the cast and crew go on the hiatus.
To top it off, The CW released two exclusive clips. The first one shows Piper and Phoebe at the mall deciding on gifts for their family and meeting a father who has one year to live and has lost touch with his daughter, while the second shows a spoiled little girl setting fire to the Warrens' backyard.
New episodes of Elemental Charmed air Sundays at 9/8c on The CW, and ”The Warrens Who Saved Christmas” will air on December 16th to close out 2018 before the series goes on hiatus and returns January 20th, 2019, for the second half of Season One.

ELEMENTAL CHARMED (TV-14, DLV) (HDTV)
Season 1, Episode 9: ”A Smart Spell and A Banshee...Are We WatchingCharmed?”
IN A TRIBUTE TO CHARMED, PHOEBE TRIES A SMART SPELL WHILE A BANSHEE HAUNTS — Phoebe is struggling with one of her classes and has a project due the next day. If she doesn't finish it in time, she will probably fail the class and the semester and have to repeat the whole thing all over again. So she goes up to the attic looking for some magical help. She finds a smart spell in the family book of shadows, and happily casts it, totally forgetting what Prudence taught her - a spell cast to just help herself and not another is bound to backfire.

She finds a smart spell in the family book of shadows, and happily casts it, totally forgetting what Prudence taught her - a spell cast to just help herself and not another is bound to backfire.
Meanwhile, it's also the Annual Foodie Event at the Salem Convention Centre, where everyone gets to sample new foods from all of the local restaurants. Prudence is in charge of the event this year and has talked Piper into introducing her new restaurant to Salem by hosting one of the booths. Prudence has also invited "Feed Salem's Hungry", one of the not-for-profit organizations where she volunteers, to sponsor the event, so the other members are helping out.
I love that Prudence is a volunteer after she likely retired.
But during the big event, Prudence has a premonition showing a Banshee stalking a woman who has lost her husband. When she sees the woman's son trying to save his mother, she recognizes him as Matthew Tate, who is hosting one of the booths and who has brought his mother with him in hopes that helping him will help bring her out of her massive grief and make her want to live again. This is followed by a second premonition showing Prudence that the Banshee will be at the Foodie Event in disguise, not only stalking Matthew's mother, but also stalking Piper who has been so busy becoming an Elemental Witch, finding a manager to run her restaurant in San Francisco while starting up a new one in Salem that she's never actually grieved father, Victor's death.
After her mother tells Paige about her premonitions, Paige transports home in order to check the family book of shadows for information about Banshees. When she tells Phoebe, who is supposedly studying for her test, and Phoebe just shrugs. All they have to do is go back in the Banshee's history and figure out which unresolved grief issues turned the Banshee into one to begin with. She also tells her how to do this - a certain potion that Phoebe quickly comes up with. Throw it at the Banshee and she'll confess everything.
Knowing there's no way Phoebe could figure all of this on her own, Paige knows something is up. She gets Phoebe to admit to casting the spell, but that it will wear off in an hour and her project is due tomorrow. She then turns back to her project.
Paige reminds her as an Elemental Witch, innocents must come first. Phoebe insists not when it means flunking a class. Paige grabs her and transports them back to the Centre, telling her that if she helps them help the Banshee which won’t only help the Banshee, but also Matthew and his mother *and* Piper, she'll help her with her project.
But the potion requires so many ingredients that Phoebe's smart spell might run out of time. Will the Warrens be able to save the Banshee and the Tates and Piper? Will they be able to help Piper take the time to properly mourn her father and will Phoebe learn a lesson about using spells to help herself when despite Paige helping her, Phoebe fails a different class and has to repeat the semester anyway?

Elemental Charmed tie-in novels and classic Charmed anniversary books on the way for Christmas!
Get ready to clear your calendars, both Elemental Charmed fans and Charmed fans — a new book series based on the classic television show and its new reboot is coming your way.
Deadline can exclusively reveal that Simon &; Schuster, will publish tie-in novels based on The CW’s new television show that will be written by New York Times bestselling author TBC.
The series, which will be published in the spring of 2019, has so far been confirmed for three tie-in novels.
The first novel, titled “Elemental Charmed”, will be a novelization of the episode "House of the Rising Warrens", but has some additional scenes and minor changes, all based on the original story by Constance M. Burge, who created both series, and was later turned into scripts by Sheryl J. Anderson and Paul Ruditis.
The second novel will feature a brand new story and features a yet-to-be-revealed plot, while the third novel will be a novelization of a yet-to-be-determined episode of Elemental Charmed. All three novels will be written by the same author in order to keep some consistency in writing styles and plots.
Now onto Charmed. Fans of the original series should get their Christmas stockings ready!
With Charmed having just celebrated the 20th anniversary of the show’s premiere on October 7th, it couldn’t be a better time to feed hungry fans. Simon Pulse is familiar with the demographic, having previously published a series of Charmed companion guide books during the show’s original run.
On December 12 (which is set to go into stores by the time you read this, you may as well run to buy it or ask for it as a Christmas gift now!), Simon Pulse is set to release “Charmed: Twenty Years of Magic,” a special hardcover collector’s edition that highlights all the content from Volumes 1–2 of the original “The Book of Three” guidebooks, as well as exclusive new content, including never-before-seen interviews with the cast and crew. It also includes extracts from Burge’s original scripts and a few other treats for fans of Charmed. The book contains a foreword dedicated to the fans by Burge, along with special thank-you notes to the fans from the original stars of Charmed: Shannen Doherty, Holly Marie Combs, Alyssa Milano and Brian Krause..
Also set to be released on the same day is a prop replica of the iconic Book of Shadows, an illustrated book that features pages from the iconic book. That will sure be a treasured item for all Charmed fans.
“We have always had a special affection for Charmed at Simon Pulse, as evidenced by our long publishing history with the brand,” says Liesa Abrams, vice president and editorial director of Simon Pulse. “We couldn’t be more excited to bring new material to the ever-growing fandom and passion for Charmed and Elemental Charmed fans together with one of the most influential properties in popular culture.”
This is the first official merchandise for Elemental Charmed and the first official merchandise for Charmed in a long time.

So, this Sunday before Christmas - the first time they haven't celebrated Christmas with him - has both of them not wanting to celebrate Christmas at all this year and even have them wanting to ditch the traditional Warren Christmas Eve dinner.
But when the two are off at the mall deciding on gifts for their family, they find a father who has lost touch with his daughters and has one year left before he'll die of cancer. The sisters have to help this man. But when they cast a spell that Phoebe writes, it backfires, sending the two of them on a little journey through time, as they watch the life of this man with them popping in and out of various times of his life. It lets them appreciate Victor even more than they already did, but not just Victor, but also their grandmother, mother and aunt. They finally admit that it's just not right that they spoil Prudence's, Patience's and Paige's Christmas, especially when they know how much Patience is also missing Victor. They decide to throw themselves full-heartedly into Christmas.
Meanwhile Patience is going nuts wondering what happened to her daughter, so to try to keep her mind off of it, she goes back to frantically searching for the perfect gift for her daughters on this first Christmas when they're living in Salem.
She knows that somewhere in the attic, there's an old family video of the last-ever Christmas they spent together before Piper and Phoebe moved away to live with Victor across the country. She considers casting a lost and found spell, but Prudence stops her before she does, even as she presents Patience with the video - it's been in Prudence's room all this time.
Even as they laugh over this, Paige comes running up, complaining about the spoiled little girl next door. She's been wrecking havoc on the whole neighborhood, trying to ruin Christmas for everyone since she wants her dad to be miserable for divorcing her mother and marrying another woman. This little girl hates her stepmother for the very simple reason that she's not her mother. This time the little girl set fire to the Warrens' backyard and the Warrens had to fight it the old-fashioned way since the witch who has power over the element of water - Piper - isn't around.
The three decide to use a spell to teach this girl the true meaning of Christmas. Even as they do, Piper and Phoebe come back. When they tell the others what they've learned, Patience decides to present the girls with the video, and they spend the Sunday before Christmas - the day the girls celebrated Christmas with Victor - watching the video.

Well done, Sasha Trudeau and Es. This is a really great Christmas and Holiday episode, and perfect way to end the year before EC goes on break.
Now, I can't wait for the second half of S1.
ES: And since EC *is* about to go on hiatus at this point and since I’m fading out, I’m going to call quits here and do the rest tomorrow morning.
I hope the rest of you are enjoying Carina’s replies as much as I have!
