I don't think anyone brought this up before, just thought it'd be fun to speculate.
But how do you think Charmed would fare if it only had 10-16 episodes per season not 22 or 23? I can't help but wonder how different the series would be if it wasn't a 22-episode series.

I agree that it'd probably have less filler episodes, which would be a good thing since a lot of their filler episodes leave a lot to be desired, but overall I think Charmed would suffer more with less episodes. In general, I do prefer shorter seasons, but based on how Charmed was done with 22 episodes, I think less would perhaps make it more obvious how messy their writing and continuity can be. But it's an interesting thought to ponder.

I think it might make the viewing experience worse, especially with how bad they were with story-arcs, no filler, means we'll sit through the entire Phoebe/Cole arc of S4, and the getting to know Paige episodes which were filler for the most part, would mean S4 would be even more rushed. So many of the filler episodes, or standalone episodes did a great job with character development and are my favorites. I don't know, if I'd like to live in a world where the standalone episodes like That 70s Episode, Sense and Sense Ability, Chick Flick or Morality Bites didn't exist. So in all, fun to think about. It also means that getting Phoebe and Paige engaged and married in S8 would be even more rushed than it already is. Of course we don't know what the writers would've done differently if it was only 10-16 episodes, but if it was anything like the rip-off it would be much too rushed for me. |

Me too Es, the filler episodes can sometimes be a nice breather from the story arcs, and I feel like the series would be already more rushed than it already is, and I might enjoy the seasons way more than I already do with the ones I don't like. If it is anything like the rip-off, I could totally see it turning viewers off. Maybe it wouldn't even last eight seasons in a set-up like this. |

Since S6 was the one that nearly got me to quit watching, I for sure, would watch it all the way through this way. Especially with a lot more better choices to end the seasons on. |

I'm still of the opinion that a lot of the filler episodes could've been much better, because they just add to the show's inconsistency more, in my mind, and while some does have excellent character development, to me it can sort of fall flat. Although in reflection, that's more because the other episodes doesn't tend to follow through with it, so perhaps I'm judging the filler episodes too harshly for something that's not necessarily their fault. However, whatever my opinion on filler episodes is, I do agree with you about not wanting to live in a world where the episodes you listed no longer existed-- because I do consider them some of the best episodes of Charmed. Also, with a show like Charmed, if it was shorter, they'd be very arc focused, which for Charmed I think would be a bad idea, since the filler episodes are what really helps create the family aspect of the show-- and that's a main selling point of Charmed. |

Yes, but unlike others I don't have a problem with filler episodes. I've always felt Charmed is a show that revolves more around "the monster of the week" than the main story arc. But less episodes would improve both filler episodes AND story arc episodes, because it means the writers aren't forced to come up with more material just to reach the quota of 22 episodes. A lot of mediocre ideas could be scratched.

I wouldn't have mind it, but some of my top episodes are from 17-22. I would want The Power of Two and Deja Vu All Over Again, to remain in S1. And, I like Forever Charmed, as the series finale.
I believe the Good, the Bad and the Cursed is one of S3's "later" episodes, as well, that I would want to remain. "Out of Sight" is another great episode, as well, but it's in S1's later episodes. I wouldn't mind trading out some bad episodes, for these good episodes.
