Has anyone checked out the latest podcast episode for "Give Me a Sign" yet? They rated this episode at the start (mostly Holly) pretty low. Apparently they think "Pardon My Past" was better than 'Give Me a Sign" which they rated higher. Though Holly and Brian were low on it the whole time, Drew was high but they started influencing him and he ended the podcast trashing it doing a complete 180. Thinking the episode was boring and nothing happened and Awakened and Pardon My Past are better episodes. Stating Awakened was a ground-breaking episode. Drew (I don't know if he was serious) said this one was so bad it was on the level of "Wedding From Hell'. I completely disagree with them. Pardon My Past was worse than Give Me a Sign where nothing happened and was much more boring. I felt like "Give Me a Sign" wasn't boring, and moved the plot along in regards to Piper/Dan/Leo love triangle, setting up Prue as a photographer and building up the demonic hierarchy and name dropping "The Source" for the first time. Holly made an interesting remark I found interesting that it was likely Sheryl's call to put an end to the love triangle and just supported Leo's character. All the writers had their own opinions on who Piper should've picked but Sheryl put a stop to it and demanded "No". Other than that the podcast didn't really offer much interesting stuff. I don't see Shannen being teased for "Murphy's Luck". Looks like she'll be saved for the one she directed at the end of S2. They keep saying she's coming on soon.

I think I would rate Pardon My Past and Give Me A Sign as equal 4/5 rated episodes.
I like how Pardon My Past explores the family history some more and also explores Phoebe's bad side - a continuation of the Woggy episode.
I like how in Give Me A Sign that it starts to explore the hierarchy of the evil world mentioning the Source.
Do you think that Connie also wanted Leo for Piper. Do you think Brad Kern wanted Leo for Piper? Was Sheryl the tie breaker or do you think they all supported this.
The writing is pretty good at this stage of the show now including the next episode with Murphy's Luck where the love triangle ends.
I wasn't so much of a fan of Awakened - esp with the Ninja Doll.
I've also never been bothered by the love triangle in Season 2. I think I like it just as much as the Andy storyline (who I agree with Drew is a creeper and the worst detective) and Cole - who took too much focus away from the sisters. I do like all 3 storylines.

So Sheryl was very much the tie-breaker, or as Holly said in this podcast, wanted to just put her foot down and end the triangle in her episode. The love triangle is annoying, but it doesn't destroy my enjoyment for S2. There is a thing known as the fast forward button for a reason, so I can always fast forward the triangle parts if I wish on a re-watch.

I'm glad Sheryl was the tie breaker because I hated BOTH Burge's AND Kern's "ideas". Kern is credited for writing S1E20 "The Power of Two" which broke up Piper & Josh (who I was rooting for) so Piper can be with Leo, and I certainly don't feel ANY chemistry, whatsoever between Piper & Dan (so points deducted from Burge). It is clear that Kern wanted Dan for Phoebe, as Kern is credited for writing S2E1 "Witch Trial". Just the way both Phoebe and Dan were written in this particular episode. BUT ALSO, Piper is with the Bank guy (in this episode), are you kidding me, Kern? You broke up my Piper & Josh, so she can be with Leo, and you don't even have her with Leo? Ggrrr Then, Bank Guy nowhere to be seen, after this episode. And then S2E3 "The Painted World" comes which is crediting Burge as the writer for this one, who then swings Dan to Piper's direction -_- Piper should've STAYED with Josh and Dan with Phoebe, END of story! On that note, the whole Piper & Leo drama/love triangle, I've actually been trying to remove most of their drama, to make S2 more pleasurable to watch LOL Should check out my Aaeiyn's Clips thread. I re-edited a particular S2E4 "The Devil's Music" scene in regards to one of the Piper & Leo drama. But, yeah, BOTH Burge and Kern really infuriated me, when it comes to Piper, and why I can't stand her in S2.

It wasn't Kern who broke up Piper & Leo in S1E20 "The Power of Two". It was (according to the credits) Tony Blake & Paul Jackson in S1E19 "Out of Sight". But still. Kern didn't even have Piper with Leo, when he wrote S2E1 "Witch Trial", and I guess wanted Dan with Phoebe and NOT Piper, and I actually like that idea. I don't always agree with Burge's ideas. I'm still team Piper & Josh (well, Piper & Mark, the most, but I digress), and they should've been endgame. I will DIE on this hill!

I also think its gross how Leo is not only dead but almost like 100? And he's been somehow involved with the sisters since they were little girls? I also think from a professional perspective that his wings should have remained cut if he was going to remained Pipers lover. Although I see the chemistry with Piper and Leo, I don't think Dan would have been any better and maybe would have been a bit Darren Stevens (BeWitched) about their magic. Phoebe was def supposed to be for Dan.. that is a hot super couple and Phoebe would have been playful with him and he would have forgiven the cancellations and family emergencies because of how cute she was. I wonder if Phoebe had a love triangle - with Dan, whether she'd be labelled a S*UT? Piper and Mark were great. Josh was good too but too similar to Andy IMO. How about Piper and Darryl (before him being a father was added to his character?) Too much of a stretch to think about lol? I find it weird how all sisters married white me or dated only white guys in general - in a city that was so multicultural (Mark and Paige's boss' son are the only ones that spring to mind).

When was Darryl being a father added to his character? I feel like in S2. But I have a feeling he was always meant to be a family man even from the start. We just didn't know much about his background until S2. I still can't believe they took five years to introduce his family. It should've been much sooner. I'm not surprised they all married white men and all had many children. Spelling is quite traditional in his beliefs and why I think that's why the show didn't have any LGBT characters getting big parts (although we've had one or two on Charmed they were very minor or only implied). I don't think any of his shows ever starred anyone who wasn't white, and when I mean starred I mean the leading characters. Darryl wasn't a lead just a regular. But I digress. I do like Piper and Mark. They had great chemistry. I give Brian credit for openly admitting her and John had better chemistry than him and Holly in the podcast. LOL I wonder how things would've progressed if Phoebe did end up with Dan. What if most of the writers room approved of this pairing, and he stuck around. That would completely change the series moving forward, because where does Cole fit into the picture. He'd have to be never introduced or paired with Prue instead. But I have a feeling he'd have just left after S2 even if paired with Phoebe.

S2E11 "Reckless Abandon" is Darryl's first mention of being father. Which could be the same as his wife, but he could've been a single father.
S2E13 "Animal Pragmatism" makes it clear he has a wife.
But, Sheila (his wife and mother of his children) doesn't first appear until S5E12 "Centennial Charmed". But the first time she has speaking lines is in S5E22 "Oh My Goddess, Pt 1".

One thing I disliked was Darryl telling Sheila their secret which was off-screen. That could've been a really great to see on-screen and been a more Darryl heavy episode. He didn't get a single centric episode for a character who was on the show for seven years. Chris, Billie, Cole and Leo all had them. It's really sad.

IN the latest Murphys Luck rewatch Holly mentions something about Kerr Smith (Agent Brody) having a conversation with her and that Paige fans would be very disappointed about this? She then talks about Ivan Sergei (Henry) but then says maybe she should wait until the episodes hes in .... which is Season 7, YEARs away.
Do you think that Kerr Smith was supposed to come back in Season 8 instead of Henry? I liked Henry for Paige but that would have been interesting and not so rushed I suppose.
It would have been great having Jason Deen or Drake come back for Phoebe too.

It would have been great having Jason Deen or Drake come back for Phoebe too. I'm guessing budget was a reason he didn't come back and they hired someone new or was busy doing something else. Just my guess. They had a similar issue which prevented Greg coming back as Dan. He was almost going to return but his contracts for General Hospital wouldn't allow him. So that's why we got Fireman Greg than Dan in that one episode in S8. It's quite a surprise how often we hear they tried getting quite a few back in S8 but something always got in the way. Prue (allegedly she was asked for the series finale but I think it was actually S7 when it was to be the final season in 2005), Henry and Dan's names all thrown around in S8.

Been busy doing work done and catching up the podcast with it on as background noise. They consider Murphy's Luck, Pardon My Past and Awakened the peak outstanding eps of s2 Episodes like Give Me a Sign, That Old Black Magic trash (I agree with TOBM it was cringey and not among my favs). I think they listed others but can't remember. Lol I got a kick out of Drew immediately calling Shannen once he watched Murphys Luck. 😆 I disagree with them thinking Give Me a Sign nothing happened when you have other episodes in S2 where nothing happened and they liked them. I give credit to Brian that he admitted he sucks acting out crying scenes.

I feel like it was an episode meant for Antonio and Shannen and it is enjoyable. I guess they are watching the series from a story development perspective where as some of us just watched if back then for an individual story development.

Seeing Piper come to the conclusion she loves Leo over Dan and making her choice. First mention of the Source by name and the Charmed Ones hearing it and learning about the demonic hierarchy. All important. I get that they may have found the episode boring. They're allowed think some are a snooze (I sure have my preferences) I just disagree with them that nothing happened when it did build stuff moving forward. But I digress. Murphy's Luck was interesting hear about Amy Adams and her acting. How into the part she was. I'm not surprised she wasn't on the podcast. Lol 😆 Not surprised also Holly thought Shannen did a better job acting wise with playing the part than Amy with the emotional struggle after the darklighter infected her.

I liked the demon Litvack in Give Me A Sign and what he could do.
That massive fireball was cool to see visually and also this was the first mention of the Source so the episode was significant there yes.
And in terms of the love triangle, I was glad that was over by then and not left dangling how long's this gonna last for then?

He who shall not be named. Damn was that Holly shading Kern. Just a guess. 🤣
The writers got inspired by the actresses real life hobbies Shannen's photography and Alyssa going back to school to learn outside her career. Holly her upbringings not being normal due to being raised by a teenager mom is what inspired Piper always wanting a normal life because Holly didn't have a normal upbringing.
Dan was meant to come back in S8. I guess Greg took his place.
They called Greg to confirm for Holly if the forehead kiss for the breakup scene was scripted. It was improsied.

I wish they hadn't done this. Watching interviews of the actresses reminds me of how they came across in the show in the later seasons. It's like they're not even playing characters anymore. The sisters in season 1 especially feel like the characters are real people. I don't get a hint of the actresses themselves in this season, and I think it's better for it. I want to watch a show about Prue, Piper, and Phoebe, not Shannen, Holly, and Alyssa.

The way they wrote Phoebe in the last half was more like how Alyssa Milano was feeling in her life and what she wanted to be - which seems like she wanted to be a influencer - hence the celebrity billboards. Also the struggle to find love thing was a reflection on Alyssa Milano too. I liked that in Season 1 they seemed seperate to their characters.

As much as S2-S3 are great the changes already started as early as S2. Besides are you really acting if way too much from themselves are put into the characters lol
