Inspired by a post: I do think Prue quitting Bucklands made sense story-wise given where she was going and what she saw in her future, but her going into Photography felt off to me. I don't know why, it just didn't feel like something her character would be interested in. Sure as a hobby, but they should've found something else for her character to transition into as a new career. It's interesting how S2 changed both Prue and Piper's careers. Piper's passion had been clearly set-up from day 1 that she loves to cook, but changed to her running a club in S2. I don't know why they didn't just have Piper start a small business that wasn't a restaurant like a food truck or some catering. P3 did nothing for Piper's character in the long-run, other than promote bands through the show.So if Piper didn't open a nightclub in S2, and instead did something related to her true passion of cooking, what should it have been?

I voted "Chicken out of her decision to quit and begs Martin for her job back at Quake" and "Other".
"Other" being she becomes the new owner of Quake and can begin hosting bands, at Quake.

My husband doesn't have an account on here, but I asked him this question and found his answer intriguing. Lemme share what he said:
Other: Writing for food magazines, only. He doesn't find Piper to be a "front in the house" person. Even "back of the house", since she gets super stressed out, it's best for her to just write for food magazines.
Other: Catering Service for Buckland's, only.

Catering service. Start slow gain experience and a reputation. Then I can see her slowly working towards a restaurant.

A food truck sounds like a nice way for Piper to achieve her dream but start slow if she can't afford a restaurant. Her food truck could even drive and set up shop near Bucklands and Phoebe's college during S2.

Piper writing for food magazines would be less stressful on Piper opening her own business. And Prue would be able to help her take photos of the food.
I can see her catering as well. Lots of functions and even catering for events for Bucklands and or the Christmas parties for Prue's work and or the police department for Darryl.

I do like her opening up a restaurant but not right away. Honestly would've been fine if she never left Quake and instead eventually took over it.
I voted for Chicken out of her decision to quit and beg Martin for her job back at Quake + Other.

A home-based catering service like we saw in The Wedding From Hell would be cool to see. She could build a reputation being able to handle special events, as well as have regular things throughout the year she served as well. This could maybe lead to opening a cafe at some point.
I'd also like if she just stayed at Quake. Season 1 could be her being a chef, season 2 is her being thrown into management, and then maybe in season 3 the current owner sells it to her because they like how capable she is, and the rest of her time with work-related things is just her getting used to owning the place and making it her own.

Food writing/blogging doesn't fit her personality at all. We've never seen a hint of that being something she'd have been interested in at all.
I'd have to see what the Food Truck business was like in 1999/2000. I think that option is ahead of its time. And it doesn't feel doable or best with the demon fighting/saving innocents/being a witch. Food trucks are a LOT of work and who helps and what happens when she's busy with witch-business? Who's then running it?

Other: Remain at Quake and work her way up to eventually running it when the previous owner sells it to her.
Other than that, if going off the end of S1. I'd prefer Piper catering out of the manor for as while until she's ready for a restaurant a year or two later.

Staying at Quake works for me until Piper eventually just ends up taking over and becoming owner.

Voted:
-Chicken out of her decision to quit and begs Martin for her job back at Quake
-A restaurant but the process takes a full season to get up and running
I’ll throw an honorable mention vote to “Other” that kind of combines both the options I voted for: Piper chickens out of her decision to quit, begs Martin for her job back at Quake, and then continues to work her way up until she owns the place, which I can see taking place over the course of some seasons. This is kind of how I’ve envisioned Piper’s path into working towards her dream in a story of mine, though I’ve struggled with the exact timeline of when she’d get to owning it.
Though I didn’t vote this, I do find this option interesting, her possibly writing for food magazines and blogging until she decides her future. Unrelated to S2, but I actually could have seen her writing in recipes or something of the like on the side prior to her going for her dream, when she was still working at the bank. Hm, this might have just inspired something for my story for me...

See, this seems like a good timeline development of Piper working her way to owning Quake. I’d kind of imagined if she had stayed at Quake and kept working her way up, it would be around S3 that she’d at least start being able make some kind of decisions with the restaurant, even if she didn’t officially own the place yet but the foundation was being made for her to eventually take it over.

She chickens out of the idea of telling her boss she is going to quit however throughout the season she tries to but to no avail throughout this she decides that if she is going to quite she might want to have another job lined up for her so she starts looking for other jobs in the same industry but this leads to a roadblock so she just gives up and keeps working at Quake throughout her working at Quake she also signs up for a business class since her boss keeps giving her more responsibility around the restaurant.
In season 4 her boss goes into retirement and she has an opportunity to buy the business, in which with support from her sisters, she does, however it takes a season for her to get the business up and running successfully, she has an idea to bring in live bands for a cocktail night which ends up being a massive hit leading to her to having more bands play at Quake, the ending of the season, she is successfully running Quake.

I really like your idea of her becoming the new owner at Quake and hosting bands there. I think it would have a much better fit than what they did do in terms of P3, and it would have made the higher ups at the WB/the CW happy, because they could still get bands in.

I voted restaurant and cafe or coffee shop. I'd be happy with either. I kind of picture it like this one coffee shop turned bistro near me.

I voted food truck or catering out of the manor.
My reasons being that the remortgage Prue and Phoebe took out might have bought the property to become the restaurant or cafe/coffee shop but not the equipment though whereas doing catering from the manor she could use what they already had and so would have money to print business cards and register the business etc.
The same with the food truck which would cost less if the remortgage still happened then Piper could use what was left over to kit out the truck before registering the business also.
Once Piper becomes successful and earns enough money then she could move onto the restaurant or cafe/coffee shop.

I *really* like this timeline, although I like the idea of her turning it into a catering service out of the Manor after she has Wyatt, so she can take care of him while still running her business. This whole thread makes me wish yet again that she had been matched with a living Mark rather than a dead Leo. Since unlike Leo, Mark was also interested in food, he could take care of the business when she's demon-hunting. Although with them, I'd want them not to have kids, just let the business be their kid.
