i think that both piper and prue were "equally" injured but obviously leo went to piper first. prue dying this way (involved with magic/protecting an innocent) was a MUCH better way for her to go out than just getting in a car accident for example. she died doing something she loved-protecting so i think she gets a little more justice this way!

Yeah now that I think of it I can picture that, and Piper did scold Leo for ignoring Prue because she(Piper) is "his damn wife" as she put it. I thought that was just her being broken and confused and pissed at having to take the torch from Prue. But it does kind of make sense now. Although he has two hands so I originally pictured him using one hand on each girl to heal them at the same time but Prue was already dead. Yeah that disappointed me as well I thought there would be a immediately continuation showing Leo failing to heal Prue and Piper and Phoebe going into shock and Piper falling into Leo's arms crying,(Awwww, sorry I'm a romantic I love that stuff hehe). So I was disappointed when they skipped all that. I love the dramatic stuff so I was hoping for a dramatic discovering that Prue is dead scene.

I disagree 100% with all of you who think Leo focused exclusively on healing Piper, and then suddenly remembered that Prue was lying there dying too.
This ridiculous notion basically goes against everything we know about Leo's character, up to that point in the Charmedverse.
Leo also said, "I can't heal the dead" as a gentle reminder to Piper, which indicates to me that Prue was already dead by the time he orbed in.
Piper accusing Leo of neglecting to bother healing Prue was simply Piper being emotionally distraught over Prue's death. Leo was the rational, level-headed one in that scene. Piper was rambling in sadness and anger.

See thats what I think. I can picture what the others are saying about him focusing only on Piper but I disagree. Like you said its not in Leo's Character he cares about all the sisters equally despite having more of a relationship with Piper than the other two. I think I like my original picture better where he used both his hands to try to do both but Prue was already dead.

I don't think that Prue "loved" being forced to get involved with magic and the supernatural world. I think that she had simply resigned to what she believed was her fate and was determined to give it her all. We're not accusing Leo of ignoring Prue. He simply turned his attention to Piper first. That's all. It's only natural - considering his feelings - that his first thought would be of Piper:

It's only natural - considering his feelings - that his first thought would be of Piper: Understood completely but the scene you provide here also has Leo stating that he DID tried to save her. Thats what put the picture in my mind that he had tried to heal both at once. I can see why he would go to Piper first...Ack I am caught between two good points now. Ok, he did not go to Piper first selfishly or to ignore Prue as I think a few people here seem to suggest. He tried to save both but on instincts and Love he went to his wife first as kind of an auto-pilot reaction. So one can't really blame Leo.

yeah i can totally see prue already being dead when Leo arrives (we get proof of this from the episode as already stated) but i think because Leo loves Piper so much he naturally would have gone to her first.

Yeah I completely agree...Even though Prue was the strongest he would of gone to save Piper first! Followed his heart not his head! But as they say..she was already dead when he tried to heal her, so not much could of been done!

Yeah that was my vision too that she was already dead when He got there but since he did not know that he tried to heal her first after healing Piper but nothing happened and so she was dead.

I do think that it felt there was something missing between the last episode in S3 and the first episode in S4.
I do believe that the reason Leo could not save Prue is because she was already dead by the time Leo orbed in.

If he sensed that both sisters were dying, he would have put his hands on both of them to try to heal them simultaneously.
Leo, as much as he loves Piper, wouldn't have wanted to revive her only to let her beloved big sister perish. He would have known what a tremendous emotional effect it would have had on Piper (and, as it turned out, did), and would have tried to avoid that scenario at all costs.
All of the evidence and logic points to Prue being dead when Leo, Phoebe, and Cole arrived back at the manor. If Prue had still been alive, Leo would have been able to sense it and tried to save her.

The deal here, I believe (and this is independent of the fact that SD was fired as they did not know this would happen at that time) is that because Phoebe, Leo and Cole were delayed in the Underworld when the Source double crossed them. If you recall, the first time Phoebe was in the house, was able to say a spell and chase off Shax, and then call for Leo to save her two sisters. If you remember, Leo then saved them both. Then, when time was rewound by Tempest, to save Piper who had been shot and killed (and Prue about to eat a bullet from the SWAT team), and there secret as witches exposed on TV, it is presumed that Leo got there too late the second time (no Phoebe to call him). Remember too that the Doctor is killed too. Anyway, all this presumes that Prue was injured worse than Piper. If you look carefully at the two of them laying there (after the second time Shax attacked), Prue seems to have a major head wound she's bleeding from. Piper is obviously hurt badly (even mortally) having been tossed through a wall, but her bleeding is less severe. Granted, this only explains an outcome we already know happened and not what would have happened if SD had not been fired. Let's remember SD actually directed that episode and was not fired until the Summer, several months later. Anyway, I believe Prue was not meant to die but Brad Kern and the writers had to move quickly, introduce a new half sister (in order to reconstitute the Power of Three), and move forward when SD was fired. He's said as much in various printed interviews. Then the show had to spend almost the entire fourth season integrating Paige into the story. But that is another thread. Personally, I loved the way they handled what was a major blow to the show. The funeral scenes were some of the most moving moments the show had. I honestly get all choked up every time I watch them. Well long explanation, but it does explain what happened, even if that was not what was meant to happen.
