Right now, I'm watching Charmed in english because my language is italian ... and I find it so "realistic" ...  I love hear the real voices of the actresses ... But ... I'm so curious to hear what do you think about the italian version ... |

Interesting is also to look at what Charmed is called in the different laguages.
German: Charmed - Zauberhafte Hexen (charmed - magical witches).
Danish: Heksene fra Warren Manor (the witches from warren manor).
Swedish: Förhäxad (bewitched)
Finnish: Vaimoni on noita (my sister is a witch)
Croatia: Èarobnice (charmed)
Hungary: Bûbájos boszorkák (charming witches)
Italy: Streghe (witches)
Any one else that can ad different names for Charmed ?

The woman who gave the italian language to Piper sounds like a girl at the age of approx 16. If they had located a woman with a more matured sound in her voice, then perhabs it could had been pulled of and made Piper sound more adult. |

Yes I Know In Mèxico and Latin america is "Hechiceras" (bewitching) In Spain is Embrujadas (bewitched) In Latin america in "Sony Channel Entertaiment Television" that is available in Sky is call "Charmed" but they refer to the show like Las Encantadas (The Charmed ones) In Brazil is "Jovens Bruxas" (Young Witchess) and in Japan is "–£˜f‚³‚ê‚Ü‚·" that means Charmed the pronunciation is "Zarjmick" |

Its funny that some countries calls Charmed: Bewitched
Guess they forgot that old 60s show with the witch that makes magic happen by twitching her nose.

Given the variety of phraseology in Latin American countries, is it possible to speak of one name for Charmed throughout Latin America? I know you've suggested as much. I'm just wondering if Uruguayan's know it as Hechiceras or Argentinians. How about the Costa Ricans? Anybody know for a fact?
And, while I am at it. Though the dubbing probably is the same, is it possible that the title cards could have been altered? Just wondering!

OMG thats hilarious its Bewitched in Swedish! Haha, I did not know Samantha Stephans was in Charmed lol. I will have to check out some of the links Shaxmx provided I love hearing stuff in other languages. EDIT: K, well Italian not too great Piper is all wrong, French it was mostly an announcer talking but what I heard of th girls was not bad, and German was cool but Piper and Phoebe need to switch voices. I am disappointed though I can't find any Charmed in Japanese, I love Japanese.  |

as a French guy but also as a student in English, I can emphasis the fact that sometimes, it's very bad translated in French! I've no example right now, but it happen often, so I prefer watching them in English as much as I can (depending on how many dvds I have)

Happens a lot when they translate american series into other languages that they mess up the translation.
The reason is the lipsync, they have to make it match as good as they can and find words in the particular language that comes the closest to the moving lips you see in the picture.
If they made direct translate, the lips and spoken words would come totally out of sync.
Thats why i love that we keep the original languages here in Denmark and just put subs in instead, although they sometimes also don't match whats being said.

Yes, I know the translations are not always exact and the lips need to be in perfect sync, but I love hearing it in my language too!

having grown up watching mainly Italian television (though not being Italian myself) i really liked the italian version all the Italian i know has come from watching telly and I am quite fluent in Italian |

Hi hi, i suddenly recall an episode where Leo & Piper switches powers and Piper suddenly is a Whitelighter. There Piper heres the call from a witch in Paris and orbs there to help her. Piper herself suddenly speaks fluent French to the charge, goes into English again and then back to French. I DO wonder how the heck the French pulled of translating THAT particular scene: Going from English to French, French to English and back to French again, all made by Holly Marie herself ;D |

remember it, she says "calmez-vous je vais vous protéger" and after "wow, was that French" and then "allons-y"
the thing for this is that in French, it's in Spanish that she speaks (its consistent ^^)!
and at the end of this ep, she says" voulez vous couchez avec moi?"
really like it!!!
