Hi im new to this and im just reading the convo,
I think that they only use "the power of three" spell if they havent got anything else to use or there desperate. like in "something wicca comes this way" when they were trapped.

I had read somewhere that the actresses actually didn't like to use the POT bc they said it was silly so after prue died they elected to not use the spell as much if not at all if they could get around it.

They said the power of 3 will set us free in Something Wicca This Way Goes cause Phoebe tried to get the Book of shadows and it shocked her knocking her over and she couldn't get the book. It cracked it go the book of shadows.

I think it was more that they kept coming up with potions that they could just throw at bad guys so they didn't need to use spells at all. It's like when Magic School came along. They kept finding stuff to make the Book of Shadows so much less than what it started out to be - just like Phoebe's premonitions - what was once the most important power because it showed the sisters which innocents needed saving turning into Phoebe's way of finding out which guy she should screw so she could have her daughter.

I would of preferred if they had not done Magic school too HP. I enjoy HP but HP is not Charmed and Charmed is not HP the book of shadows should always been around more it sucked when you didn't see it. It sucked big time they probably did that cause the ACTORS broke it hmmmm. |

Why did Phoebe and Cole worked for hours to create a spell that called on the power of the Halliwell line to vanquish the Source when the POT spell is strong enough to kill the Source and the Seer combined? If it is that strong a spell, why not just use it on every demon? It's possible that the strength of the spell fluctuated depending on how intimate and/or confident the sisters were in a given moment. Something like Avada Kedavra; I could say it all day and not give Professor Moody so much as a nosebleed. It's also possible that the writers just didn't fully examine this inconsistency and their main concern was changing the spells to keep the show from getting boring. Like the old adage says "If you can't think of anything nice to say, use the Power of Three spell" The only explanation I could think of for that was that the girls weren't yet united enough as sisters to draw the required power to vanquish the Source. That's why they called upon their ancestors as backup. But if we go with that logic, how is it possible that they became much more powerful and united between killing the original Source and the Seer-Source, which they used the PO3 spell for? Perhaps killing Cole-Source cemented their 'bond' or maybe Seer-Source was actually easier to kill because it was still just a foetus. You're probably right, though. The writers just probably wanted to use different spells. |

Exactly if the charmed ones had used the P03 spell all the time the show would've become boring and the Book Of Shadows wouldn't have been so filled up as it was hence the different vanquishing spells but then when magic school was introduced with it's extending library the sisters had all the information they needed there of course and so rarely needed the book in the future which might've been rectified had the school been burnt down afterwards when demons overtook itforcing them to go back to that even though the place was supposidly meant to be protected from evil.
