Darkness. Silence.
"Are we ... dead?" Chris whispers into the darkness.
His voice has a strange sound. As if there was an echo in this nothing of darkness. There is a breathing, close to him. Next to him. And the next thing he feels is a hand, slowly moving and searching.
"Wyatt? Is that you? Please, tell me that it's you." he whispers and looks around, but he can't see anything.
Not even his own hand before his eyes.
"Hush, Chris. Listen." Wyatt suddenly says and presses his arm.
Chris takes a deep breath of relief. He was not alone in the darkness. Wyatt was here. With him. And he was alive.
"Thank god you're alive." Chris says and suddenly feels Wyatt's hand on his mouth.
"Shhh!"
Chris nods and listens. Attentively, carefully. And then he hears what Wyatt is obviously hearing. Voices. Far away and yet close. Loud and clear and yet nothing but a whisper.
And suddenly there is light. Bright and warm.
Chris and Wyatt frighten, but amazement takes over fast. And it grows with every second.
They lie on a white, marbled ground which is surprisingly pleasantly warm. They look around and everything seems to be made out of marble. It is a huge hall, bigger than anything they've ever seen. The light is as bright as sunshine, but there was no sun. The ground is covered with white clouds and there are even more clouds up at the ceiling, but there is no ceiling. There is just the sky. A nice, warm, azure sky. And from this sky a sunray appears like a spotlight directly at one point in the hall. Chris and Wyatt's look follow the sunray and discover a golden throne in the middle of the other end of the hall. A wide way leads to it, lined by high marbled columns.
Strange figures slowly come out from behind the columns, wearing white tunics with golden sashes and ...
"Do I see wings or am I'm having a nervous breakdown?" Chris whispers incredulous.
Instead of giving him an answer, Wyatt nudges Chris and indicates him to be quiet and to watch, because the council of elders now slowly comes out from behind the columns.
"Holy cow!" Chris says bewildered, as he sees the elders in their golden habits.
"Welcome!" a thunderous voice says, which makes Wyatt and Chris turn to the throne.
On it appeared like out of nothing the conqueror, but now he doesn't look anymore like this frightening horseman of the Apocalypse. He has a golden crown on his head, wears a white tunic and a golden breast-plate. White wings spread out behind him and on his face a warmhearted, benevolent smile lies.
Wyatt gets up and offers his hand to his brother to help him, whereupon Chris notices that all his wounds are healed. There is no pain anymore. His arm isn't broken, his knee isn't sprained.
He frowns his forehead and gets up, hops to test, if his knee is really okay and smiles as he sees that it is. He looks at his brother and notices that Wyatt was slowly walking towards the throne, so he hurries to follow him and as Wyatt arrives in the middle of the hall, he stops. Chris plants himself right to his side.
"Welcome!" the conqueror says again.
"Where are we? Are we dead? Is it over? Is the punishment executed?" Wyatt asks straight forward and the conqueror smiles.
He raises his hand and another three angels, dressed like him; step out from behind the throne.
"I am the archangel Michael." the conqueror says, whereupon the first one of the other angels slightly lowers his head and says:
"I am the archangel Gabriel."
The second one lowers his head and says:
"I am the archangel Raphael."
"And I am the archangel Uriel." the last one says.
"We are the four horsemen of the Apocalypse." the conqueror finishes.
Wyatt and Chris are stunned. They were fighting the archangels. The mightiest power existing. Only god's power is greater.
"Is the mankind destroyed?" Wyatt finally asks, as he finds his speech again.
"No." Michael answers short.
"Why? You said we have been judged and that we've failed." Chris interferes.
"Your courage, effort and dedication for the people, your fearless fight against all adversities and your selfless sacrifice, to give your life for them, has shown us that there still are good, decent and respectable people. People of pure heart and pure soul. And as long as people like you two walk on earth, there is hope. The hope that God's trust in mankind will find its confirmation."
Wyatt and Chris look at each other. Unbelieving, stunned, almost speechless.
"You have averted the Day of Judgment - for now." Michael adds and gets up to join the ranks of the other archangels.
"You mean - that's it? No more creepy horsemen?" Chris asks and can't hold himself back from smiling.
His green eyes shine relieved and happy and one can see that a heavy load was taken off his shoulders.
The archangels smile and Michael nods.
"Mankind has received another change to proof themselves worthy - thanks to you. Be assured that mankind will still be observed. They will be tested and judged again and if nothing has changed, then the riders of the Apocalypse will return."
Michael raises his hand and a garish white light appears and is directed on Wyatt and Chris. It is blinding white and the brothers hold instinctively their hands before their eyes.
"Goodbye." it resounds like from far away and as Wyatt and Chris uncover their eyes, they're back on the back street, somewhere in San Francisco.
The slimy lohesh-demon they have been fighting all the way at the beginning suddenly appears and Wyatt blows him, before he even has a chance to attack the brothers.
"We're back." Chris notices, turns and looks around.
"We're back!" he shouts, grins broadly and jumps his brother to hug him.
He laughs relieved, happy and still he can't believe that they just went all the way to hell and back to safe mankind. Wyatt feels just the way and hugs his brother back. Jumping up and down, screaming and laughing.
"We made it! We made it! Holy friggin cow - We made it!!!!!" Chris shouts laughing, takes his brother by the shoulders and shakes him.
"I know! I know!" Wyatt shouts back.
"We gotta go and see mom and dad."
Chris nods and just moments later they orb out of the back street and to the Halliwell Manor.
And they find Piper and Leo sitting in the kitchen, talking about the new band, which is supposed to play in the P3.
Wyatt and Chris orb in.
"You guys will never believe what we just did ....!" Chris starts and hugs his mother.
The brother's look at their father and see the sparkling in his eyes. The proud smile on his lips and the knowing expression in his face.
And Leo says:
"We know, sons. We know. And we are proud of you."
The End
