I'm quite happy not knowing, leaves our imaginations to run wild. In Kerns mind he was probably thinking if there ever was a spin-off, a new producer wouldn't like all their creative control taking away from them. Naming and powering the next generation wouldn't give them a lot of power over the series, they'd be stuck with nine characters that are not there own but with the way it's been done they have five or six character not named nor powered. I truly don't think that had anything to do with it. If he truly thought this, he would not have named Junior or Grandson Matthew, leaving those for the new producer. I'm sure that Kern was told that Forever Charmed was IT (hence the title); that there would be no spinoffs. I'm also sure he thought that if there was ever a spin-off, he'd be the producer (YUCK!); I can't imagine him considering that someone else might be given that job. I think 4Ever is on the nose correct. IMOHO, Kern is a male chauvinist pig who turned a show that was supposed to be female-centric into one that was male-centric, starting with Wyatt's birth (complete with his own prophecy, suddenly making HIM the most powerful kid ever) rather than Prudence Melinda's. Kern obviously had to cut down his original Forever Charmed script and he had to be sure that we all knew what the males' names were and who cares about the females? He sure didn't. |

Exactly so. If he truly wanted us to know, that should've been part of the extras on the DVDs. That's what they are for. I truly think he decided that Prudence Melinda was Melinda and little Prue was Prue AFTER the show aired and everyone griped. I truly don't think he gave the girls' names a second thought!
But as someone pointed out. I'm GLAD he did. Seeing him come up with Matthew (AGAIN! I am SOOO sick of all the Matthews in this show!) and Henry JUNIOR, I can just about IMAGINE the names he would've come up with for the girls!

BUMP!
With all of the discussion re: Piper's daughter in the comic book (especially her name), I decided to bump this one up.
I'm more than a bit curious to see how many kids are already born at the beginning of the comic book (since to me, Wyatt and Chris look school-aged rather than pre-school, so all 9 could already be born - GOD, I HOPE NOT!) and what their names are.
Powers, too, but as always for me, that's very secondary.

I do not know how to name all those children but none of the three sisters seemed inclined to follow the P tradition not even Piper the most conservative
I do not think Piper had a daughter,she gained a restaurant in FC not a girl so I just never thought of the right name Melinda or Prudence
I'd like if Paige named a daughter Prudence in honor of her never known sister

I think Piper did call her daughter Melinda Prudence Halliwell as some people have already suggested.
I think Phoebe named her three daughters: Patricia, Penelope and Prudence.
While Paige named her daughters Helena and Grace.

No. Melinda is the daughter who was lost when the timeline changed. She no longer exists or if she does, she's now a boy named Wyatt. She was named Melinda because both of Piper's sisters were alive, so she could be named after their ancestor, the name I also think is Piper's middle name.
No way I will accept that Piper did not name her daughter after the sister and best friend who she lost - Prudence Melinda. Prudence is what they were going to name Wyatt if he was a girl, so Prudence is what she would've named her first daughter.
Calling Piper and Leo's daughter Melinda in Charmed: Reality Reset makes sense since all of Piper's sisters are alive. In the comic book universe, it wouldn't. Had Phoebe been the one who died, I think Piper would've named her daughter Phoebe Melinda; had Piper been the one who died, I think Prue would named her daughter Piper Melinda. As long as Phoebe is alive, her first daughter would be named Phoebe and as long as one of them died (which did NOT happen in the Morality Bites timeline), Melinda would've been a middle name, not a first.
As I said in another thread, even if they call her Melinda in the comic book, I'll know they're calling her by her middle name, since calling her by her first name is still too painful (note: They've yet to see Prue's ghost, so obviously Piper hasn't truly accepted her death yet. And seeing how death means nothing to anyone except when it happens to Prue, I'm not surprised.)
Along that same line, I don't think Phoebe would name her Ladybug, the daughter she always wanted, after Prue, since she was never as close to Prue as Piper was. Instead, I think she would've named Ladybug after herself, so she would have Phoebe, Patty, and Penny. If Piper can name her son after Leo and Paige can have a Henry Jr, Phoebe can definitely have a Phoebe Jr, since she'd name that daughter she wanted so badly after herself, not after Coop. She's also the one most likely to continue the "P" tradition.
Also, since Paige wasn't as much into the history of the family as the others were since she wasn't part of it as much as Piper and Phoebe were, I think she would name her daughters after both her adopted mother and after Henry's mother. Now those names might be Helen and Grace, but it would be after *them*, not her ancestors.
Less likely that she would name a daughter after an older sister who she never even met. Now if Phoebe decided to forgo keeping the P's and naming her daughters after Coop and Cole and herself, then I could see Paige naming her twins Patty and Penny, but I think that's more likely Phoebe's or Piper's, if she had more kids.

I agree that an hypothetical Piper daughter would be named Prudence, the same Piper told it
I do not believe in the existence of this daughter but I think this has to be one of the names of the next generation
Prudence is a name linked to a beloved sister and the name of an ancestor, prudence was the daughter of Melinda Warren
Both Phoebe and Paige could have used, Phoebe, in memory of the friendship started when they became witches Paige in memory of an unknown sister which death has changed her life
I am also convinced that both Paige and Phoebe do not feel obliged to follow the P tradition maybe because I'm sick of all the fanfic full of the usual patty Penny Parker Paris .. poor girl Paris if there was a F tradition they'ld call her Frankfurt ?
Paige is too unconventional to use family names it seems to me more appropriate if she called a twin Mikelle, as the whitelighter that saved her life
and Phoebe? Charlotte is a name that would remind a beautiful adventure, the journey into the past where it was fulfilled her desire to fly I like to think that a Phoebe finally mature, worked out her fragility and need of love, could give her last daughter a name tied to a sweet memory
as Marian to remember her love with the demon that had restored her joy of living
as Kyra to remember a friendship which died too soon
as Colette to make peace with memories of a love full of mistakes from both sides

Actually, I think your both right, Paige is far too indepedant to have to many family ties. That's why I think she'd called the twins Michelle and Mikelle, after the woman that saved her life, Mikelle and her childhood friend, Michelle. Kudos to Erika for remembering Mikelle.  Junior would also have the middle name, Glenn, after her best friend. But for Phoebe, I think she'd stick with the 'P' tradition, as she is quite rooted in her family and out of all four sisters, seemed most interested in her ancestors. Yet I don't think she'd name her after herself, I just don't think she is as self indulged as you make out, I think your dislike for the character is slightly clouding your judgement. So I think she'd choose her Great Grandmother as her eldest, for arguments sake lets call her Patience, then it would be Patricia (Trish/Trisha for short) and then Penelope (Penny). |

OH!! I *really* like the idea of Paige naming one of her daughters after Mikelle! I don't quite see her doing the "twinny name" thing, especially when they're fraternal not identical twins, so I'm not so certain about Mikelle and Michelle. My guess is just like Mikelle, the other twin would be named after another charge who Paige wanted to save and couldn't, although I still think she would name one of them after her adopted mother. Although since they never actually named Paige's adopted parents, her name *could've* been Michelle. If it was, then this would work fine.
*sigh* Too bad Paige didn't just have the twins and not Henry, Jr. (for one I hate that name and for two, I hate all three having three kids), and that the twins were a boy and a girl. Then she could have Mikelle and Mitchell. After Piper using Leo's last name for her first son, I can see Paige doing that with her son, a lot more than Henry, Jr. (calling him that was just Kern being lazy).
LOL, I agree that PhoeME might not be as self-centered as I make her out to be, but she's definitely much more self-centered than you make her out to be, especially when it comes to the only reason she went looking for a guy to marry, so she could have the daughter she wanted so badly. I *do* still seeing her naming her little Ladybug Phoebe, but if you can accept Prudence Melinda as compared to Melinda Prudence, I can accept Patience.
Rather than being named after her great-grandmother since I think it's much more likely that Phoebe would've named her little Ladybug after her mother or her grandmother, I like the reason why another RPG site named her Patience Love - partially as a tip of the cap to Coop, the way Piper and Paige had, but also because it was a very long labor, and Coop kept telling Phoebe, "Patience, Love...patience, love!" Something like that sounds like Phoebe's sense of humor, the one part of Phoebs that PhoeME/Freebie never lost. Pay probably hates her name (and the nickname her sisters give her, Lovie, even more), but it fits.

Keeping that in mind, Mikelle and Michelle make perfect sense for the twins. I do believe we've got it: Wyatt Matthew, Christopher and Prudence Melinda Patience Love, Patricia and Penelope Henry Glenn, Mikelle and Michelle. Anyone want to make bets how many of these will actually be the names in the comic books? I'm betting on two - Wyatt and Chris.  |

I've heard it so often I figured it *must've* been in the series somewhere, but I truly don't know. |

I'm with you - I've always called Chris Christopher Victor. I've always thought that Perry was Bianca's last name, not his middle name. hehehehe Phoebe naming one of her daughter after the person she *really* loved. Yes, I can see that. I also think the other daughter would have a middle name of Nicole or Colette after Cole. So we have: Patience Love Patricia Kyra Penelope Nicole. Reminds me. In my favorite Next Generation virtual series site, Lexi calls Penelope "Loppy" rather than Penny. I get a kick out of that. One more. In a different one, they *did* have Phoebe having Prue as her baby (along with Priscilla and Petunia - I don't think so...) because Piper's daughter was the baby of the whole family and Piper didn't think she would ever get to have her and she wanted to be sure there was a Prue in the family. (I disagree with this totally since I think Wyatt, Chris and Prudence Melinda are the oldest of the bunch because just like Holly, Piper *did* look pregnant at the end of S8.) So when Piper finally had her baby, many years later, she did name her Melinda Prudence, but they always called her MeliPru. Although I don't agree with the setup, I do like the nickname. That situation would be the only way where I think that Piper would name her daughter Melinda rather than Prudence. |
