thanks! now, the moment you've all been waiting for: DEATH TAKES ANOTHER HALLIWELL by Cara Halliwell a/n: this story is purely my own creation. no copyright infringement intended. i hope you'll all enjoy my story! CHAPTER ONE Paige Matthews orbed into the dark alley. This was where she had sensed her new charge. Paige glanced around, surveying the scene: a few dumpsters, a chain fence, and a couple of rats. Paige shuddered. She walked toward the fence, calling out for her charge. "Keira! Keira, honey? Where are you?" she called. Suddenly, a girl with dark brown hair stepped out from behind a dumpster. Paige jogged over to her. "You okay?" she asked. Keira looked at her. "Yeah. What's going on? Demons are trying to kill me!" she cried. Paige waved her hands. "Sh! You'll attract attention!" Paige said, looking around wildly. Suddenly a very muscular demon shimmered in. His clothes appeared to be made of leather. He was bald, and his arms were covered in black tattoos. He conjured a fireball in his hand. "Dammit," Paige swore. She pushed Keira out of the way. The fireball hurled toward Paige. She raised a hand and called for it. "Fireball!" The fireball bounced back to the demon, hitting him in the stomach. Throwing his hands up in the air, he screamed. Then he burst into flames and disappeared. Paige sighed and turned to help Keira. She pulled Keira up and helped brush her off. Keira looked at Paige, wide-eyed. "I-I have to go," she said. She took off toward the street. "Keira! Wait!" Paige called. But it was too late. She was gone. Paige rolled her eyes. Great, she thought. She orbed out, leaving the alley completely empty.

Very nice start. I especially like the title! It's nice to see that Paige is *still* helping out innocents (I presume this takes place after the finale...) Paige definitely stepped it up on the show when it came to innocents, so I'm glad to see that element pop up in your story.
Speaking of Paige. You've certainly written her to be very believable. I can see each of her actions taking place in my head! Great Job!
My only suggestion at this moment has nothing to do with the content, however it does have something to do with the structure. I think you ought to break the block of writing up into paragraphs, that way it takes on more of the story aspect.
Overall, good start. I can't wait to read more!

thanks for all the comments pcp! yes you are correct: this story does take place after season eight. i should have written it in. now, part 2...
Scenes of San Francisco flash to the beat of Cold by Evans Blue
Piper Halliwell shook the frying pan in a quick circular motion. She tossed it, causing the pancake inside to flip over. Setting the pan down, she took her freshly made biscuits out of the oven. "Leo!" Piper called. On cue, Leo walked in with a smile. "Hey, I'm not your whitelighter. No need to yell," he joked. Piper squinted her eyes at him. "Very funny," she said dryly. She kissed him good morning and set down the breakfast she had made. Leo began carrying plates into the dining room.
When Piper walked in, everything was in place. All that was missing was her sisters. Piper knew they had their own lives, but it seemed so much easier to get them up when they were living in the same house.
Suddenly blue lights filled the room. Her sisters, Phoebe and Paige, appeared. Phoebe walked over to Piper. "Hey sweetie," Phoebe said, giving her eldest sister a hug. Piper smiled. "Hey yourself. So how's the engagement going?" she asked. Phoebe had finally found true love, with a cupid, no less. They were engaged and the wedding was coming up.
Phoebe grinned at the mention of her fiance. "It's going great," she said. Paige smiled and sat across from her. "Pheebs, that's great!" she said. Piper smiled at her youngest sister and sat down. Paige took a biscuit and sighed.
Piper furrowed her brow. Just before she could say anything, Phoebe asked the question for her. "Honey what's wrong?" she asked. Paige looked up and forced a smile. "Nothing, I'm okay," she said. Piper nudged her. "Liar," she said. Paige had to laugh. Then her face got serious again. "It's my charge. I saved her from a demon and she ran off. It happens every time! I don't know what to do," Paige said. Phoebe grabbed her hand. "Paige, you've had tons of charges," she said. "You can handle this one," Leo added. Paige smiled at both of them. "Thanks," she said. They started digging into the food.
After breakfast, Piper started to wash the dishes. Paige and Phoebe had already gone, and she was trying to avoid boredom. Leo walked up behind her and hugged her. "Thanks for the breakfast," he said. Piper smiled. Turning her head, she gave him a peck on the lips. "I'll go check on the boys," he said. Piper nodded. After finishing the dishes, she walked into the living room and grabbed a magazine. Sitting down, she flipped through it carelessly, wishing her sisters were with her.
Phoebe Halliwell walked into the Bay Mirror. It was abuzz with activity as usual. Heading right to her office, she quickly closed the door. She made her way over to her desk and turned on her computer. While she waited, her eyes fell on a picture. Picking it up, Phoebe stared at it. She and Coop stood in their new house, smiling at the camera. Phoebe smiled at the picture and set it back down. Though she loved her new family, she missed her old one.
Interrupting her train of thought, Elise walked in with a copy of the paper. "You've done it again. Great advice," she added, looking Phoebe in the eye. Phoebe sometimes found this very uncomfortable. She smiled. "Thanks, Elise," she said. Elise smiled back and walked back out of Phoebe's office. Phoebe sighed and turned to her computer, ready to answer more letters.

Paige orbed into Keira's apartment. She looked around, seeing the empty room. "Keira! You here?" she called. She walked into what appeared to be a bedroom. No one. Paige walked back into the living room.
She saw Keira come from another room. "Ah! Keira thank god," Paige said. Keira stepped back. "Stay away from me. I don't want to know anymore," she said. Paige sighed. "Keira, you're destined for-" Paige started. "No! Go away!" Keira said. She pointed at the door, not moving.
Paige sighed. She walked toward the door. Grabbing the handle, she opened it and walked out slowly. She orbed back down to her car.
On the way, she had stopped to get some more herbs. When she got to her car, she started it and drove off. Passing the buildings, she thought about her charge.
Why was she so resistant? Paige shook her head. Suddenly a honk rang through her ears. Paige gasped at the car speeding toward her. Suddenly, everything went black.

The ringing phone echoed through Halliwell Manor. Piper ran to the phone, picking it up. "Hello?" she asked. "Yes this is Piper Halliwell," Piper said. The phone hit the ground. Piper stood frozen to the spot. It couldn't happen. It shouldn't have happened. But it did. And as Piper let out her tears, she only thought of one thing: burying another sister.
Phoebe picked up the phone in her office. "Hello? Piper what's-" Phoebe stopped. "She's-what?" Phoebe said, tears pricking her eyes. She let out a sob. Paige, her youngest sister, was dead.
Piper paced the Manor, her eyes and nose bright red from crying. Leo sat on the couch, looking equally upset. Piper's head snapped up upon hearing the door open.
Phoebe, her only sister, ran in. Piper rushed to her sister and hugged her. She could tell Phoebe had been crying too. Piper let go and sat down, Phoebe sitting beside her.
Piper put a hand to her forehead. "How could this happen?" she asked, her voice high pitched. Phoebe shook her head and looked away. "What exactly happened?" Leo asked, a pained expression on his face.
Piper looked down. Phoebe looked at Leo and spoke. "They said she hit a car in a head on collision. She died on impact," Phoebe said, whispering the last sentence. Leo looked at his hands, not saying anything else.
Phoebe looked at Piper again. "This can't be the end," she said. Piper looked up at her, tears running down her face. "I think it is," she said. She got up and stalked off to her room.
Phoebe got up to follow her, but Leo stopped her. "Let her go. She needs to be alone. And we need to figure this out. This wasn't a natural event."

thanks for the comments! i've been busy, but i WILL continue!
and now, part 5:
Piper flipped through the Book of Shadows angrily, searching for an answer. Her vision was blurred by her tears, pricking her eyes. Paige dying was no natural accident. There had to be someone behind it. Piper knew it wasn't her time. Paige was destined for more than that.
She lifted her head upon hearing footsteps. Phoebe entered the attic, followed by Leo. Piper looked back down at the Book, still flipping its pages. Phoebe came up beside her and looked at Leo. Then he spoke.
"Paige wasn't supposed to die," he said. "I know that," Piper said, not budging. She waited for more information. "So who do we know that would be keeping track of her destiny?" Leo continued. Piper froze.
"The Angel of Destiny," Piper mumbled. She flipped to the page with the summoning spell. "Go get Wyatt," Piper instructed. Leo looked at her, confused. "Well, we don't have Paige, so we need a third Charmed One," Piper explained.
Leo nodded and ran down to Wyatt's room. Piper closed the Book and waited with Phoebe in the center of the attic. When Leo returned with Wyatt, Piper motioned for him to set Wyatt down beside her. Piper knelt down, eye level with Wyatt. "Sweetie, we need your help. Wanna help us get Aunty Paige back?" Piper asked. Wyatt nodded. Piper forced a smile and grabbed one of his hands.
Phoebe grabbed the other, and grabbed Piper's hand, forming a triquetra, the symbol for the Power of Three. Piper closed her eyes and chanted.
"Power of Three, We summon thee, And call to us, The Angel of Destiny."
A golden light swirled down from the ceiling, landing in the middle of the circle. Piper and Phoebe stepped back, still holding on to Wyatt. Piper looked expectantly at the golden light, waiting to see the same Angel that had saved Leo.
But it wasn't. This time, the Angel was a man. He was tall, and brown haired. He had a slight beard, and brown eyes to match. Normally, Piper would have thought he was cute. But she wasn't focusing on anything but Paige.
"Where's Paige?" Piper asked. The Angel looked at her smugly. "Not with you," he said. "And why the hell is that?" Piper asked angrily. Phoebe stepped up to Piper, placing a hand on her shoulder. "Easy," she reminded.
Piper glared at the Angel, waiting for his answer. "She's not with you because this is her destiny," the Angel replied, giving Piper an equally challenging stare. "Like hell. You and I both know Paige isn't meant to die. Not now. And I want to know why," Piper said.
The Angel stared at her. "The other driver was a future whitelighter. We had to take someone, so we took Paige." Piper's jaw tightened. "No. You will not take my sister just because a future whitelighter was involved," Piper said, her voice rising.
"I'm sorry. There's nothing we can do," the Angel said. And, with a golden flash, he was gone.

Piper stormed back over to the Book. Flipping through the pages, she came to the page with the Angel of Death's summoning spell. She quickly memorized the spell, closed the Book, and walked back over to her spot.
"Spirits of air, Sand and sea, Converge to set the Angel free, In the wind I send this rhyme, Bring Death before me, before my time."
A black cloud appeared, forming the same Angel of Death piper had met three times before. "You know, this is getting old," the Angel said in his usual English accent.
"Cut the crap. I want to offer a trade. A demon soul for my sister's," Piper said. She looked at Death, projecting all of her anger into the stare. Death raised an eyebrow at her.
"Now why would I do that?" he asked. Phoebe stepped up. "You've done it before," she said, protesting. "That was a different situation," Death countered. "But you did it. So why not do it again?" Piper asked.
Death stared at her in silence. "I'm sorry. I can't help you." With that, he disappeared in the same black cloud he appeared in.
Piper rushed down the stairs to the foyer. Phoebe and Leo followed behind her. "Piper, what are you doing?" Phoebe asked. Piper whirled around.
"Henry." She walked forward again. Phoebe followed behind. "Henry?" she asked. Piper turned to her again. "If we can cast the spell that screws up Death before he dies, then we can negotiate with him again. We just need to have a demon go after Henry. Then we'll cast the spell," Piper said.
She turned and grabbed her coat. "Piper, you can't-" Phoebe started. Piper turned to Phoebe yet again. "Do you want to save Paige or not?" Piper asked. Phoebe looked down for a moment. Then she looked up at Piper. "Yeah." Piper nodded and headed out the door.

Piper drove as fast as she could. She finally reached Henry and Paige's house. Parking her car, she slammed the door shut and ran up to the front door.
She knocked loudly, anxious for someone to answer. The door opened to reveal Henry, red-eyed. Piper gave him a sad smile. "How are you?" she asked.
"Piper, I can't really talk-" he started. Piper interrupted him. "Do you want to save Paige?" she asked.
He just stared at her. "How could you even ask me that?" he said. She nodded. "Okay. Here's the plan," she started.
Phoebe stood in the living room, pacing the floor. She stopped when the front door opened. Piper rushed in, Henry following close behind.
"The demon's coming!" Piper said. She looked around expectantly. Suddenly a demon shimmered in. Piper threw up her hands and froze him.
"It won't last long! Say the damn spell!" Piper called. Phoebe laced her fingers together and stared worriedly at the demon and started to chant.
"Innocent in my sight, I protect you with all my might, Let this spell protect, Keep you away from death!"
Suddenly the demon unfroze. Piper dove behind the nearest chair, while Phoebe hid behind the couch. Suddenly Piper saw Henry fly across the room.
Looking back at where he had been standing, she saw the demon shimmer out. Piper jumped up and ran over to Henry, who had a hole in his stomach.
Before Piper could say a word, he stood up. Piper smiled. It had worked.

It wasn't long before the Angel of Death appeared. Piper sat on a chair in the corner, her arms crossed. Death looked at her angrily.
"Why must you insist on ruining my job?" he asked. Piper stood up, her arms still crossed. "Because this is personal," Piper snapped. Death glared at her.
Piper matched his glare. "Give us Paige. Now," Piper said. Leo walked down the stairs. "Paige's body is upstairs. Good thing Darryl got it for us before it was cut up," he said.
Piper looked back at Death, who had been silent. He sighed. With a snap of his fingers, he was gone. "Leo, go check on Paige!" Piper called.
She turned back to Phoebe, who had come from the kitchen. "Shall we reverse the spell?" she asked, looking at Henry. Phoebe laughed. "Let's do it."
That night, the Charmed Ones sat in P3. Paige looked over at Piper and Phoebe. "Thanks you guys. For saving me," she said.
Piper smiled. "Couldn't let you die," she said. Phoebe laughed. "We dodged another bullet," she said.
Paige laughed. "Well," she said, getting up, "I think Henry missed me. I'm gonna head home," she said.
She waved to Piper and Phoebe and left the club, happy to be alive.
THE END
