There has always been a nagging thought at the back of my mind but I've always dismissed it until now.
Leo Wyatt. We all know him as kind, gentle and caring. Even before he went into War World II, his ex-wife Lillian, told Piper that he was the same sweet person that Piper knew him to be.
So in "Witchstock" why the hell do we see Leo walking around with tacky clothing, showing off his powers at Wiccan peace gathering and trying to get into any pair of female legs he sees? I also found it odd that Leo knew Grams in that way before, the two seem completely on different paths
So who was this Leo we saw in this episode? It's like he came completely out of no where. Human Leo, Past-life Leo, and Present Leo, all show conflicting personalities to the "Witchstock" Leo. Just something that's always puzzled me.
It was an entertaining episode nonetheless, so I'm not really hacking the writers, just a bit spontaneous.

Nothing in it is consistent with the rest of Charmed.

He could be 'high' on some powerful magic. This post right here, is made of WIN! I will think of it that way too. It is easy to think that Gram's GoGo boots sent her to another reality than back in time.

It really is the best way to look at some of the episodes that very simply don't make sense. Hmmm....rather than dying after "Kill Billie, Vol 2", Piper just slipped into an altenate universe.... NAH!

What I don't understand is how her and Billie don't atleast have a broken bone in their body. There is just no why they can fly that high up and survive.
Also, there were instances in the show where they were thrown really hard and in reality anyone would have broken a bone. But I guess that is for a different thread.

I know that I am a bit out of time and line here, but then again so it "Witchstock" so maybe my comment might fit.
I loved that episode. I also hated it. I loved it because it was me. I hated it because it was so totally wrong. Patty and I were born the same year (1950). I did the 60's, my mother did not. In fact my mom did several 50's and catapulted into the 90's directly. This is to say that by the time she figured out that time period, she was reading it in history books.
Patty should have been the one at the house, but we have chatted about this before. That episode set up who grams was and why she became the person the girls got to know. That's fine, but the time line was a mess. If I had been setting this up I would have had Patty in place of Grams and Patty would have been killed then. This would have driven Grams nuts and then she would have become the angry powerful witch. Loosing a child, your only child would have set her rage in place. This to me would have been more satisfying.
To stay on topic....I too thought Leo was way out of character, but I consoled myself that maybe even angles are tempted, and he has smoked a little to much wacky-weed, and was just not himself. Weak, I know...but that is all I have got.

It wouldn't have worked. The sisters would have to be living in this episode. And the story would have to be set in February 1978. And since there was already an episode about Patty's death back in S2 - namely "P3 H20", it would be pointless to revised "Witchstock" to feature Patty's death.

If anything, it would have had to be a different child besides Patty with this happening in the 50's before Patty was born. The only possible explantion for Grams to be so young during the '67 Summer of Love when Prue was born in '70 is that Chris and the sisters aren't the only ones who did some time-travelling... But as I said before, I prefer to simply think of it as an alternate universe that has absolutely nothing to do with the rest of Charmed. Hmmm....kinda like Forever Charmed...

Possibly one of the worst mistakes in Charmed's history. Messing up someones age by what...20 years!? It's unforgivable - that was Kern's doing and there is no denying that, as Exe. Producer he should of spotted that error in it's early stages!

Technically, Grams should have been at least 35 or 36 years old, around the time of "Witchstock".

There's no doubt in my mind that when this episode was originally conceived (coming up with Witchstock from Woodstock) that it was supposed to be Patty who would be the hippie, but Finola Hughes wasn't available. At that point, they should've simply dropped the whole thing. That they didn't shows how much more important having titles that are plays on other titles was than consistency and believablitity.
I mean:
Grams that young, talking about Patty at home with Grams' sister as if Patty was a kid when she'd have her own kid in 3 years?
Grams' husband changing first names?
Leo and Chris getting along when neither was under a spell?
Leo the whitelighter forgetting his charges to sit around smoking whacky tobaccie?
No, not even time travel explains this one; the entire show *has* to take place in an alternate universe. There's no way "Moonbeam" is our Leo.

Don't forget Darryl being older than he should have been.

Unless that was Darryl's father.
Also, Patty couldn't of been in a sixties episode as she was born in 1950, Grams was in her 20's in Witchstock and Patty wouldn't of been in her twenties until the 70's. Grams however would of only been 30 in 1961, which makes it possible for Witchstock not have been a mistake, Grams could of simply looked younger than she was.
Kara Zediker who played her, played Elizabeth Nash in 24 in 2001 and the character was 27, three years later, she plays Penny at about 30 - possibly older. The episode was set in 1967 so Grams is only 36, there are some young looking women in their mid thirties; look no further than our very own Alyssa Milano! Patty would 17, so it is totally valid for her to be staying out of town, espcielly if they are planning to have a gathering, one which could get ugly if demons intrude! Did they ever specifiy that Patty was a baby, can't remember.
The only major goof was the fact that Allen should of be Jack!

With you, Es. AU
And the name thing pissed me off, too.
They never actually SAID that Patty was a baby. But the way it was said made it sound like it. Because she was 17. And the way they said she was with her father's sister made it seem like that was not the case.
They really should have scrapped the idea. Hell, it never should have been made in the first place because I'm not sure how Patty would have fully worked.
But, Leo in that episode really annoyed the hell out of me. Because it makes absolutely NO sense.

After looking at the family tree, I recently just realize that Penny's husband name was completely wrong just as Es and Astral pointed out. It should have been Jack.
This whole episode was wrong, 70's Leo was only a part of it.
Talk about your 'WTF' moments.

*nods* That's what I'm saying. Paige didn't travel to another dimension - the whole episode takes place in another dimension.
Which is a shame. Because if you look beyond the many, many, many inconsistencies, it's one of the most fun episodes of that season (along with I Dream of Phoebe).

Unfortunately, I found this whole episode too over the top. Atleast they tried something different with the demon, even if it is a big green blob.
