Hi. I was thinking, what do you think of the Charmed Comics so far? Like it? Hate it? Never read it?

Like I said in this thread, I've gotten all the issues except for the most recent one which I hope to get soon. On the whole, I like the comics and can accept them as Charmed's Season 9. There's definitely things I'd do differently, but it's clear that the writer, Paul Ruditis, knows and loves Charmed. There's been two illustrators and I like the latter one better than the first - some of the second one's characters look amazingly like the actresses. I don't like the fact that there's already six kids and am definitely upset by some of the names - or lack of names in the case of Paige's twins, although I've heard that they're named in the new issue. That other thread has links to a number of sites that show what the various characters look like and also plots. If you like them, you might want to get the graphic novel which will include all 6 issues (including #0, which is a preview issue that's very well done, although I wish the other artist had done the artwork) and is supposed to come out in February. I'll just stick with the comic books. ETA: I'm very happy. Reading about the comics at other site, made me check out Charmed Wiki and I found this about Piper's daughter: (from: Melinda HalliwellPrudence Melinda Halliwell, more commonly known as Melinda, is the third child and only daughter of Piper Halliwell and Leo Wyatt, and the younger sister of Wyatt and Chris. She is born in 2007,[1] when Chris is three and in the comics, in which the year is 2008, she looks like a one year old. She was seen in the final episode of Charmed being sent off to school with Wyatt and Chris. [2]
Confirmation of Existence Both the Official Charmed Companion Book, The Book of Three Volume 2 and The Official Charmed Magazine have confirmed that Piper and Leo will have a third child, a daughter, and that she will be named Prudence Melinda Halliwell. She was shown only in a short scene, being sent off to school with Wyatt and Chris, in one of the flash forward sequences at the very end of "Forever Charmed", confirming that this obviously came to pass.
Name In the episode "Baby's First Demon", Phoebe has said that Piper originally wanted to name her first child, Prudence Melinda, in honor of their big sister Prue . The name Melinda appeared in one of the episode's casting scripts, though it was never mentioned explicitly in the final episode. The Book of Three Volume 2 credits her as Prudence Melinda. That book is a fully authorized companion, and thus proves that her names is Prudence Melinda. Other than the fact that she exists, and the obvious given conclusion that her powers are purely inherited from Piper's side of the family, little is known about her.
Notes: In the comic, Phoebe names her eldest daughter Prudence as well. Still, it is possible for both sisters to name their daughters Prue. Piper just uses her daughter's second name, Melinda. YAY! This is *so* what I wanted - both sisters naming their oldest daughter after their lost sister - but calling one Melinda so she has an identity of her own and the other one now has a nickname - PJ. Perfect!

I find this confusing. Two first cousins of the same generation, with the same first name?

I find this confusing. Two first cousins of the same generation, with the same first name? Not unheard of. My mom and my older sister both married men named Johnny. And both of their first born sons were named after their fathers. That's four Johnny's in the immediate family, all of whom just go by nicknames. Ditto, I was waiting for this too! From what I've head, this should be out *this* month! I'll be sure to let you guys know when. Thanks Es! I blessed you!

I also have three cousins who were all named John after our grandfather after he was dead. We call one John, one Jack and one Johnny. So, yes, I can see two cousins named after their beloved murdered aunt. From what I've head, this should be out *this* month! I'll be sure to let you guys know when. Thanks Es! I blessed you! Right now I'm hearing the EIGHTH! So that should be this week!! I hope The Source (my local comic book store) will stock it and call when it's in.

Thanks! www.tfaw.com has discounts. www.zenescope.com has a subscription option which I think lowers the cost as well. I'm sure there's lots of other online comic stores as well. I buy mine locally, so I don't pay too much attention to how to buy them online.

Just letting you guys know that I called The Source (my local comic book store) and they *had* the graphic novel, but didn't know that I'd be interested, so they didn't call me. I don't know how many copies they had, but they're all sold out! So there's other Charmed fans in the Twin Cities area!! Luckily for me, they said that they can order me a copy, so I'll still get mine later on.

You can read an interesting interview with Paul Ruditis who wrote the comics hereMy favorite comment is this one because I agree with it *so* much: Piper got a new power in “Mortal Enemies”. Many fans have already called it Molecular Acceleration, but did you have another name in mind?
PR: Not really. I think once you start naming magic or examining it too closely it stops being fantasy and becomes almost science fiction. For me, that makes the magical aspects of the story less interesting.
The magic does need to work in logical manner. It needs to grow out of the character and the world, but specifying between “molecular acceleration / manipulation,” “geokinesis,” “thermokinesis,” “pyro-blah-blah-blah” isn’t my focus in the storytelling. I do understand why you all want to know. I appreciate that you enjoy pulling apart the Charmed universe and examining it in microscopic detail, but that’s not where my interest lies. Piper slowed things down to freeze them and she sped things up to the point they exploded. This is something in between. Not necessary a “new” power but an evolution of the power she already has. You can call it what you like. I’m calling it George. Amen! I love the fact that he also thinks that giving a power a name takes away from the magical aspect of the story. All those fancy names were never used on the show and I'm glad he's not going to use them in the comic books.

Hehe. I do love his names for powers. When I sent him a run-on tweet we had a conversation that ended in him saying if he had the power to banish people from Twitter he would call that power "Fred". He's a lot of fun. For those of you interested, this is a video that Zenescope made to advertise Volume #1 of the Charmed Comic. Sorry about the ad. The video is pretty amazing. Hope you enjoy.

What a slacker! Not at all. A very smart person who is doing it the same way the show has always been done. Consistency. What a concept!

The comics are pretty amazing. I've been thoroughly impressed with them thus far, with Issue #6, "Mortality Bites Back" being my favourite. The art and the story are absolutely amazing. If you're a fan of Season 2 then you'll love how his issue ties in with "Morality Bites", as it's about the build up to Phoebe's fated encounter with Cal Greene and whether she has done enough to change her future.

You could try www.tfaw.com, but if you're not American I wouldn't bother, as the shipping per comic can be pricey and time-consuming. Ebay also has various retailers who sell the comics. I'd suggest trying to find a local comic book store. That's where I get mine from
