So I really loved Bianca (obviously) and thought she was pretty kick ass, and love the idea of a Phoenix Witch. I know it says they rose from Salem's ashes but where else do you think they derived from? I think they must have come from demons somewhere along the way as they have demonic powers. Do you think it's possible they are some sort of demon/witch hybrid? I think if that was the case maybe they originated from the Demonatrix, which were demonic assassins. There were a lot of similarities between the two. Perhaps the Demonatrix bred with a witch, which would give them their witch powers. I'm interested to hear other people's theories on Phoenix's.

It seems to me that many magic practitioners, regardless of whether they are witches, warlocks, wizards or demons, seemed to share the same or similar abilities.

It was clearly said the Phoenix is a witch but where their powers coming from, no idea. Though it'd be interesting to know. That's what I don't like about BK, giving us new people with no explanation - only that what's in the Book of Shadows and that wasn't much here!!

I think along the way, someone could have 'mated' with a demon, and thus the shimmering. But what else is a "demonic" power? Energy balls? Wyatt anyone?

I think the powers were simply labelled as such over time, particularly by good who started associating certain powers with evil because of the way it had been used in the past. The powers themselves weren't good or evil but they were associated with one or the other because of the kind of beings that had possessed them.

I think they should have given Phoenix Witches more Powers that's resembled Phoenixes and showed off the part of their heritage like ash teleportation, healing tears, or even being able to have a limited version of shapeshifting into a Phoenix where they could their claws or wings and then once they completely devote themselves to that heritage they can then completely transform into a Phoenix.

Heh. For Reset Reality, we delved more into the Phoenix (surprise...NOT!) I like the idea of shapeshifting. They do reconstruct, which can be seen as self-healing. We only got one episode. So not enough. I want so much more about this species.

Yeah, would have been more fun with more episodes about these kind of species.

I would've loved something like that because then the Phoenix's could've been established as their own type of species on Charmed with their own type of powers which no-one else had that people could say, "Oh yeah I remember them." distingushing them from the other types of beings on the show. A background type episode or scene even showing how they came about would've been nice to see.

I prefer them being the same species as the Charmed Ones, but ones who went a totally different direction. I like best the way Scififantasychic does it in her wonderful "The Witch and The Assassin":

I do, too. If we could've had a spin-off about the unchanged future, I would've wanted Scifi to write it! Best of all she came closest to writing the characters the way they were on the show better than just about any fanfic writer I've read. Which means, of course, in this story I didn't like Chris, didn't like Bianca, didn't like Wyatt, didn't like Leo... Just rolled my eyes at them just like I did during Season Six. Naturally Chris-fans thought otherwise. But I absolutely loved to hate Bianca's Aunt Tess, one of the most evil villains in all Charmed fanficdom! And Wyatt's lieutenant, Ekera - *shudder* And the ones I loved and cared about were Scifi's other original characters along with a certain half-demon who Wyatt brought back from the dead and three little girls, one who reminded me of Phoebe, her older sister who reminded me of Prue and their little cousin who reminded me of Paige... If you want to read it, you can find it here Unfortunately she just copied it from the Old Cafe Fan Fics thread and when they were copied they ended up being formatted badly besides not including the fantastic chapter titles. But it's still a great story...

That's quite a feat, considering that no witches were burned in Salem to begin with.
I'm guessing that research into what actually happened in Salem, that accused witches were hanged, not burned, was too much like work for Kern and his writers.
Mind you, this error started in the Burge era, but still...

Apparently these witches can be hired by either side since they have no loyalties to any party except to their own kind.

I like the idea of the Phoenix witches as mercenaries that can operate on both fronts, I wished that these witches showed off again during the different seasons,it'ld be interesting to see again witches free to use their magic as they wish,
