I'm on a charmed rewatch and I saw where the dark priestess wants the book. It turns evil with new spells and creatures. But isn't it basically connected to the halliwell line and would stop creating new pages since the family tree updated it. So it would only contain what it did up to that moment unless she puts her own magic.
Also the book sidnt contain many spells like the source languishing spell as it wasn't created until a year later and she said she wanted it to take out her enemies along with ruling the underworld.

To most no good. But remember the nexus could be used for either good or evil. Most demons if they could succeed in stealing the book would want to try and corrupt it to evil first. The priestess figured out how to do just that without trying to steal it first by contaminating the power of 3 through Prue thus making it tap into the bad side of the nexus. The book essentially turned into an evil version and got replaced with dark spells that probably existed in it many many centuries ago. Even Piper and phoebe didn't understand the spells but the priestess did. I think it reverted to a version that must have existed when maybe the nexus may have been claimed for evil centuries ago. Since the manor was built there to reclaim it back for good at some time the spot had to have been used at a time for evil. Just my thought
The smarter demons like zanku knew that in order to use the book in it's good state for anything useful, they had to first use it to steal the power of 3 in order to cast any power of 3 spells in it . Then there was the demon who knew how to undo every cast spell in the book by reading it backwards.

Not a bad thought. I knew it changed because of the dark wedding, but not what it could actually do

IK the Book is more or less like a History book. Source Cole had no idea to rid the Vampire colony was to vanquish the Vampire Queen. And, the Blondes were excited to see spells and potions to counter their competition. I think (more or less) the book is nothing more than just a tool/guide in vanquishing/performing things other evil doers wouldn't know how to do without it. That's how I choose to look at it, anyway.
