Inspired by the S1 vs. S2 thread by Aaeiyn.
Time to chose between S2 and S3.

So, old me would've picked S3, but I'mma pick S2 'cause it is objectively the better season with stronger episodes. Not to say S3 is bad (which is where I disagree with the board). I (probably) like S3 more than most (not all) of this board. I expect this board to pick S2, though.

Despite the stupid triangle, I definitely prefer S2 over S3 (and S4 and S5 aand s6 and S7 and S8, but not S1)
I don't like the changes in the sisters in S3; I much prefer them in S2, even if I don't like how Piper treats Leo and Dan. The funny thing is that if it ended when I feel it should've...when Shax says "The end", I'd probably prefer S3 over S2. It's knowing how what happens during S3 that sets up what happened in S4-8 that makes me dislike it. Now if rather than 'Witch Way Now' as S4's season ender, a form of 'Something Wicca This Way Goes?' was the SERIES finale, my feelings would be toally different.
I also much prefer the many standalone episodes in S2 (many favorites in there) over the story arc in S3-S8. The fact that the Phoebe/Cole story arc is my least-favorite of the entire series is part of that. Again, without S5, I would react differently to it. My only favorites in S3 are "All Halliwell's Eve', 'Once Upon a Time', "The Good, The Bad and the Cursed', 'Pre-Witched' and 'Sin Francisco', most great standalones.

Although Season 2 and Season 3 were both good in their separate ways I still pick 2 over 3 just for the overall feel of the show for me.
Don't get me wrong Season 2 did have some things I didn't like about it namely the start of where the sexy clothes came in, the love triangle between Piper, Leo, and Dan, and certain changes in show consistency like with ghosts for instance but over that it still had sisterhood, Phoebe the carefree loving spirited person she was who adored magic, good standalone episodes, Prue dealing with Andy's death, great innocents like Maggie Murphy, and Connie Burge was somewhat still in control of the show for the time being.
That changed when Kernus became the showrunner from Season 3.
Men being focal points over innocents started creeping in but not solely like in later seasons obviously, and Phoebe's personality changed when she lied to her sisters about Cole when her Season 2 self probably wouldn't have then but it still had great standalone episodes in itself here with the fairies being one, "All Halliwell's Eve." a second and the one with Phoebe linked to Bo Lightfeather a third of course.

I was with you, until this point of contention. I still don't think S3 "started", anything especially about the men part. TBH, I don't feel like that aspect of the show really changed. Andy was just as much as a focus, in S1 and probably had more story arcs going for him than Piper. And, OFC, the love triangle of S2. I agree, probably not as bad as later seasons, but I feel like S3 is just about the same as S1-S2. Just with a different character via Cole. I don't see how Phoebe's personality "changed" because I ALWAYS viewed her, as a liar. We've seen her lie BEFORE S3. Episodes like S1E20 "The Power of Two" & S2E17 "How to Make a Quilt Out of Americans". Phoebe lies, when its convenient, for her. I don't like S1E14 "Secrets & Guys" retconning that Phoebe "can't keep a secret", when she ABSOLUTELY can! I feel like I'm the only one, NOT surprised by Phoebe's shady and scandalous ways. It's just her character and even S1E15 "Is There a Woogy, in the House?" showcases this. Even if Phoebe wasn't in love with Cole, I don't really see her vanquishing Cole, still. Since, good 'ol S2E2 "Morality Bites" is about "protecting the innocent" and not "punishing the guilty", vanquishing Cole back in S3E8 "Sleuthing with the Enemy" would just be "punishing the guilty", in my eyes. If he MUST be punished, it shouldn't be death but jail time, like Bane, back in S2E15 "Give Me a Sign". Especially, since Cole seemed willing to change. The rest of your post, I do agree with, though.

I don't mind S3. But I just think S2 is a more fun season to pop on despite some episodes dealing with death and emotional episodes here and there. I just like how comfortable and easy going S2 is than S3 and S4 which are so dramatic and dark.

I think Season 3 has better cinematography, directing and acting but the stories in Season 2 for me are more relatable - finding love, changing careers, being more responsible etc with the lessons. I dont really mind the love triangle because I do like Dan. And I also like how they are after Piper, the less outwardly sister. Season 3 makes me think of the beginning of the end a little, especially because you know how it ends up and finishes so abruptly and out of character. I also think there is too much focus on Cole. I chose Season 2.

Season 2. The love triangle tires me. Piper, who doesn't like being a witch anymore, depresses me. But the relationship between the sisters is huge. There is no tension and we have three episodes with a moral. I hate Phoebe in Season 3 for lying to her sisters and never listening to Prue. I don't like Cole. When he kills a witch, he should never have come back. I'm not a fan of love stories especially when they never end. Prue's sad death is an insult. I liked the idea that we had the triad, balthazar and soon the source. But the sisters didn't kill any of them.

Since, I did my listings for other polls, I'll do it here, too and see if my vote holds up:
S3E1 "The Honeymoon's Over" S3E2 "Magic Hour"/S2E2 "Morality Bites" S2E3 "The Painted World"/S3E3 "Once Upon a Time" S2E4 "The Devil's Music"/S3E4 "All Halliwell's Eve" S2E5 "She's a Man, Baby, a Man!"/S3E5 "Sight Unseen" S2E6 "That Old Black Magic"/S3E6 "Primrose Empath" S2E7 "They're Everywhere"/S3E7 "Power Outage" S3E8 "Sleuthing with the Enemy" S3E9 "Coyote Piper"/S2E9 "Ms. Hellfire" S3E10 "We all Scream for Ice Cream" S3E11 "Blinded by the Whitelighter" S3E12 "Wrestling with Demons" S2E13 "Animal Pragmatism" S3E14 "The Good, the Bad & the Cursed" S2E15 "Give Me a Sign" S3E16 "Death Takes a Halliwell" S3E17 "Pe-Witched"/S2E17 "How to Make a Quilt Out of Americans" S2E18 "Chick Flick"/S3E18 "Sin Francisco" S2E19 "Ex Libris" S2E20 "Astral Monkey"/S3E20 "Exit Strategy" S2E21 "Apocalypse, Not" S2E22 "Be Careful What You Witch For"
Totals S2 = 12/15 S3 = 10/17
Still picking S2 'cause I have more "must see" S2 episodes than S3.
