I would definitely would have loved to see that but since it was an unexpected detour I think they just wanted to transition from Prue to Paige quickly.

Hmmm. I would've as long as that second half was shown the following week. Shax turning to say, "It's the End" was absolutely totally the best cliffhanger of any show I've ever seen! I'll never forget just sitting there, my chin dropping to the floor, honest-to-goodness thinking that that was the last show and that they were ending it with both Piper and Prue dead and Phoebe and Leo stuck in the Underworld! To suddenly see what you were talking about would've just killed all of that tension. It was SUCH a relief when I found out months later that Charmed was coming back, even as I was shocked to find out that Shannen wasn't.
I would've preferred if Shannen hadn't been fired in such a horrible way so that she could've been part of Charmed Again and the first part could've emphasized Piper and Phoebe mourning their lost sister, with plenty of flashbacks from the previous seasons and us getting to see the part that you were talking about as a flashback, like what Primrose and I just added to our "Our Screwed-Up Destiny". That would've given us Prue-fans a chance to remember and mourn our favorite, just like Piper and Phoebe. Who knows? Maybe Shannen could've even directed it.
Then let Piper do her "calling for a lost sister" near the end of Charmed Again Part One and seeing Paige react to it, followed by the Oracle seeing her and letting *that* be the cliffie for Part One. Then Part Two could concentrate on her.
Or if what I just wrote as Charmed Again, Part One; if that had been AHBL, Part Two, done a week after AHBL, Part One, that's what would've been perfect, so Charmed Again could concentrate on Paige, but we Prue-fans would've had a chance to say good-bye to our favorite--Paige took up too much of Charmed Again for us to do that; we felt like we had her shoved down our throats while we were trying to mourn our favorite. It was SOOO unfair!

Well of course we know why Shannen was fired and they didnt plan it and i quite like the cliffhanger as is and wouldnt want a part 2 or a 2 hour final.
But if Shannen was not fired but let go gracefully. I would instead have first half of charmed again dealing with Prues death. 401 and part 1 could end with Paiges introduction and finding Prues funeral notice. Then the second half would be part 1 of charmed again. Ending with Prue finally crossing over to the afterlife once her sisters are reconstituted, which allows her peace as her bond to the power of three has stopped her crossing over officially.
Then they can rewrite the following episodes to not rush Paige being a charmed one and Shax isnt vanquished until the bond between the new charmed ones strengthens.
I always found charmed again two separate stories. The transition was rushed. Part 2 felt like an arc over many episodes and part 1 should of been the full two hours of charmed again. But alas Brad wanted to move things quickly.

Rather than a two part finale, I would've liked 4x01 to deal more with the immediate aftermath rather than the time jump we got. We were left with a major cliffhanger, so it was pretty jarring to start season 4 and see that it had all been dealt with off screen. Obviously this was due to the way they handled the Shannen situation.
General consensus seems to be that "Charmed Again part 1" was great, while "part 2" was pretty...eh. So if instead we could have had 4x01 saying goodbye to Prue, then 4x02 introducing Paige; I'd take that.

Have the first 6 episodes build Paige and her bond which allows them to vanquish Shax in episode 6. No need to rush them already being the new power of three by episode 3. They could of found a way to deal with the cliffhanger without shannen. Still showing how Phoebe escaped. Do it from Phoebes POV. Maybe Phoebe forces Leo leave her he returns to the manor. We have Cole and Phoebe in the underworld. Then we have Leo return for Phoebe who doesnt say anything and Cole will fight off demons so they can escape. Phoebe comes back to find Piper crying with a sheet over Prues body and there you have Prue dead and showing them mourning without having Shannen used or recycling old footage with Prue. What they could of done to resolve the cliffhanger without Shannen.

What they could of done to resolve the cliffhanger without Shannen. Indeed. Perhaps Phoebe's could've returned home to see the paramedics wheel Prue's covered body out of the Manor as Piper is being questioned by the police etc. Kern just couldn't wait to get Prue out of the picture altogether. Not to go on about Buffy again but I would've loved something similar to their episode 'The Body' for Part 1, then Part 2 would be the funeral and the 'intro' of Paige, ending with Shax attacking her on the rooftop and her orbing (and running) away.

I like your ideas too. I love The Body, Buffy did the best episode ive seen dealing with a death. The emotions were brillantly executed and they only threw in one vampire dusting, yet the rest was so true to loss. Much better not forcing Paige down our throats. Wasnt the pacing off. Paige hadnt even meet them properly and suddenly shes at the manor and already reconstituted after having just meet them really properly for the first time after the funeral. That made zero sense for how they can become the new charmed ones. It would of been even better if, they do not even learn Paige is their long lost sister until much later. Let Piper and Phoebe fight on their own. episode 3 could still stay the same minus paige being a new witch so keep Piper as a fury tied only to her and Phoebe coping with Prue gone and with Leo and Cole. Mix Paige in and build on her slowly here and end the episode with the Oracle learning about Paige. Piper and Phoebe then learn this in episode 4 from grams and patty.

Piper: Yeah. Sure, why not? We could have another funeral tomorrow. I mean, all the dishes are out and we pretty much know who to invite.
This is the only reason why 'ld leave Paige's discovery linked to funeral
They'ld have a different opening, longer than usual, with the voice of Phoebe, and imagesof their escape from Underworld
Phoebe, converted by Malice in Wonderland :I mean, if there's one thing we've learned, it's that we're being guided ... and signs always lead the way. The question is, where do you start looking for them Perhaps our drama began when we underestimated Shax and I felt free to worry about Cole..
Opening credits with the same music, but subdued and images of the two fights of Piper and Prue against Shax instead of the usual overview of characters and them the funeral
