Charmed Season Eight | Part One “The Atonement [PART 1]”.
INT. Backyard of the Manor - Evening
[The camera fades in, in a swirling motion around three sisters. The charmed ones.]
It seemed as though they were enchanting some sort of spell together, though it was hard to hear what they were saying. "It's no use" Piper suddenly muttered, releasing her sisterly grip from her two younger sisters. Looking up at them, she notices both Paige and Phoebe looking at the ground. Phoebe turned around to stare at what used to be their house, The Manor. "I never thought it would be this awkward" she said quietly to herself, hoping one of her own would say something to cheer her up. Neither of them spoke a word.
"Die Witches!" A loud shrill voice yelled.
[The camera swerves around to the street, revealing that their cars are no longer there.]
In an instant, some sort of creature manifested into physical form. Its whole body was covered in loads of black cloak; the only thing visible was his face, although hard to make out it was apparent he wore dark blue hair slicked back. Pulling off his cloak revealed tan skin and one messed up eye. Paige wondered if someone had stabbed a knife through it because dry blood covered it for the most part.
"Run!" Phoebe and Paige screamed when they saw the creature raise its arm above its head. Piper didn’t move. Instead she stared at him transfixed. With a snap of its fingers a whole army of minions shimmered in behind it. Most of them were shielded in the dark, but the light from the full moon revealed the only female minion who was eyeing the sisters. Perhaps she was on the lookout for someone. The demon pointed its finger at Piper and an energy ball blasted towards her. Phoebe jumped in front of her sister, saving her from the attack. The energy ball flew into a nearby tree causing a huge explosion. Fire began to erupt from the blast. "What the hell do you think your doing?" Phoebe yelled as they scrambled up, or rather got up using all of Phoebe’s weight. "I told you to run, Piper, what do you have a death wish or something?" Phoebe knew something was wrong. It wasn’t like Piper to stay still in fear. She would usually blow things up instead.
The demon gave Phoebe a contorted final look, before disappearing, although she didn’t notice. The minions also exited.
Piper got herself up without much expression and apologized to Phoebe. Her sister noticed another thing, her voice sounded a little different. Piper was talking more slowly than usual. Phoebe was about to squint her eyes but another damn sister caught her attention.
"Ahhh!" Paige screamed.
[The camera moves to her as she is shown flying across the lawn.]
Aggravated, she got up and ran for the manor doors, again. Obviously not learning her lesson. As soon as she put her hand on the door knobs she was thrown back by some enigmas force.
"What the HELL do you think your doing!?" Phoebe bursted, running to stop her sister from trying again.
"Sorry..." Paige apologized. Phoebe darkened the look in her eyes, and then realized something. "Paige?" she asked. Her sister gave her a vacant look and smiled.
"Paige," She questioned loudly,
"You know we can't go near the manor! It's been weeks now. For some reason its keeping us out. I don't know how and I don't know why. But it is." Phoebe glanced at Paige again and noticed her sister was not listening.
"Paige..?"
"Yes?"
"Are you even listening to me?" Obviously not.
Without a second thought, Paige wandered off and sat down on the grass with Piper.
Phoebe put her hands on her face as if to say "I can't take this much more." However, her eyes weren’t covered for long. She heard, or at least, sensed someone. Or something. In a flash of dark blue light, a person appeared from the shadows. "Piper, Paige!" Phoebe screamed. Her sisters took no notice.
Entering the light of the moon, a girl with long black hair that had a tint of blue in it, glanced at Phoebe with a dense expression. The girl took a step forward and took a peek at Paige and Piper. "Something tells me they won't be listening to you much longer" she said. Phoebe stood there for a few seconds glaring the evils before asking her who she was.
"Who are you?"
After all that had happened she didn’t know who to trust.
Who was this girl and why was she here? Phoebe cut herself off from any explanation but it was useless. She didn’t get one.
The girl took a few steps toward her and chuckled quite rudely to herself. Phoebe didn’t take a step backwards, although she wanted to. She desperately wanted to. She wanted to run away. Far away with her sisters and her nephews. Somewhere where she wouldn’t be harassed and put into danger. It was useless though, she was a charmed one and she knew it. Although they decided to live a normal life, normal was anything but them. Paranormal things followed them around like there were no other forces of good out there. But were there others? It was obvious to Phoebe that the ever looming elders were ever useless. They cut themselves off from the sisters in their time of need and have since lost contact with them. Good riddens though.
"What'cha gona do? Your powers are weak. Destroying the nexus was the single most stupid thing you've ever done, Phoebe."
In a rage, Phoebe aimed a flying kick at the girl. It was more than a flying kick though. Her levitation it seemed, had begun to work again. The girl dodged it and trusted Phoebe into the ground. Phoebe got up, unhurt and yelled out "Who are you!?" once more.
The girl looked over at Piper and Paige who were sifting by vacantly, unable to notice a thing that was happening around them.
“Their under the influence... The names Arya" Arya said to phoebe, then got an estranged look back.
"By under the influence I don't mean alcohol. Although, it's interesting why you haven't changed. Surely Drakoetu's mind warping technique would have affected too unless..." Phoebe didn’t want to care but blurted out "Unless..?"
"Unless he was wrong.” Arya darkened the look in her eyes and squinted.
“Unless you’re an Empath."

=PART 1=
Int. West bay Funeral Procession - DAY
The sisters equipped in their glamoured forms looked around at the people who had showed up for their death procession. The sisters were a good distance away though, not wanting to make anything even remotely obvious. It had been four days since their supposed deaths.
"Why are there so many people there?" Paige wondered, noticing people she would have never thought she'd see. Her old boss, Mr. Cowan and ex boyfriend Shane were seated near the front.
"Look!" Phoebe yelled when she saw Jason in the far back corner. Piper grabbed her hands and told her to
"Keep quiet. We don't want to attract any attention."
"Right," Phoebe says, taking her focus off Jason and on to their situation.
It has been a week since their deaths, and what they thought would be a good thing had turned into the opposite. Unbeknownst to the sisters, a demon manifested itself behind them, Drakoetu. Whatever it was, cast a look at the sisters sending them flying through the air.
"What the hell was that!?" Piper and Phoebe yelled in unison, grabbing Paige off the ground.
"Oh my GOD" Phoebe gasped when she noticed her sisters. Her actual sisters. No longer was Paige a fuzzy blonde or Piper a freaky red head. Their glamoured forms had disappeared. Piper took a frantic look at the procession. People had noticed them. The sisters turned their heads to see the creature that had attacked them disappear. Neither of them got a very good look at him.
"Holy -- we have to get out of here!" Phoebe screamed. The sisters ran from the scene as fast as they could.
Int. Front steps of the manor - NIGHT
Phoebe’s eyes opened and she gasped, having seen everything in a premonition of the past. She stared strangely at Arya. Arya smiled.
Int. Mountains at some place - AFTERNOON
[The camera follows some streams and forests until it gets to an entrance to what looks to be a small mountain.]
There was a large pool of water encircled the end of the forest and the entrance into a dark blue, mountain which had a cut entrance. It had been cultivated.
Drakoetu manifested himself into physical form, standing in front of the water. "Arrive" he ordered out loud and his minions shimmered in above the water, actually standing with all their weight on it.
"Very good," He said proudly.
"What are we doing back here?" The only woman in the crowd of minions asked, moving forward, without fear. Drakoetu gave her a slant look, staring at her long dark blue hair and fair skin. "Arcina, if you were anyone else and were before another leader, you would likely have been killed for that insolent remark. What makes you think I will expose my plans just because you demand it?" Arcina flushed but did not lower her gaze. "Still, you are right. Your… position gives you privilege to say such things. Come. The rest of you retreat until I say otherwise.” Drakoetu did not like being questioned in front of his minions.
The rest of them disappeared. Arcina moved forward and gazed wearily at Drakoetu.
"...Arya was there after we attacked. She was with the witches." Arcina commented solemnly, unsure if saying so was a good idea.
"Damn her." Drakoetu said silently, but loud enough so that Arcina heard.
"She has been quite the Nat lately. It doesn’t matter. She isn't as powerful as you anyway. However, keep a close eye on her. If you have to, harm her but don't..." Drakoetu stopped in his tracks before he could finish his sentence. He didn’t need to. Arcina put her hand around his neck and smiled. "I know, Drako. I know."
Both demons walked across the pool of water which was solid, although not to the eye.
"We nearly had them." Arcina muttered sadly.
"Emphasis on the nearly, Arcina. Didn't you notice anything out of the usual?" Arcina cocked her head to the right as if to say no. "The middle sister, what's her name..?"
"Phoebe"
"Ah yes. Phoebe. She wasn't affected, although the other two were easily infected."
Arcina stood still.
"What? Your spell always works, it always has. Unless..."
Drakoetu knew it but he didn't need to say it for her. "We have twenty four hours. Keep an eye on Arya and the sisters. Make sure Phoebe doesn’t snap them out of it or we'll have to rethink our ploy."
"Of course" Arcina agreed before Drakoetu walked towards the entrance of the Blue Mountain and faded into it.
Int. Front lawn of manor – EARLY MORNING
[The camera opens with a close up of Piper and Paige’s faces.]
Piper and Paige were lying face up on the grass staring into the sky babbling something. Perhaps laughing to each other.
“AAahha, this world is pretty desolate” Piper hollered.
“Yeah! It’s almost like we don’t exist or what not.” Paige screamed pretty stupidly. Unable to make what she was saying of any sense.
They both laughed some more and started to roll around a little. A few feet away, Phoebe was sitting on the manor steps with Arya to her left.
“What have they done to my sisters?” Phoebe asked with a hint of sarcasm, watching Piper and Paige roll around on the lawn like idiots. “It’s hard to explain.” Arya began.
“I don’t know much about it myself but I’ll try and explain it. Basically, every moment in their lives that they can remember, every short instant of time in their brains has been messed with.”
“What?”
“I said it’s hard to explain,”
“…Anyway. Everything they’ve ever felt in their lives, like, emotions are all coming back in a non consecutive order. What results from that are spurts of insanity, childlike behavior, paranoia, confusion, a sense of loss among other things…” Phoebe looked at Arya still mildly confused. “I think I get what you’re trying to say,” Phoebe pondered, then noticed how Piper was smiling and humming. Although it wasn’t the right time to think such a thing, Phoebe couldn’t help but notice that she hadn’t seen Piper so happy in a long, long time.
“I wish Leo were here…”
“Phoebe.” Arya began. “What is happening to them gets worse every minute their infected. People have… tried, but there is no known cure.” No known cure? That wasn’t good enough for Phoebe.
“What, there has to be. What’s going to happen to them?” Phoebe asked frantically.
“They lose the sense of who they are and their soul eventually leaves their body and they die.”
“No.” Phoebe said.
“No.” She repeated,
“We are the Charmed Ones. The mighty powerful charmed ones” She commanded out loud as if to reassure herself of her status.
“Well, at least we were. We avenged Prue’s death and remade the power of three. We defeated the source and Zankou.”
Almost abruptly Phoebe stopped to ask why she hadn’t been affected.
“Why haven’t I changed?”
Arya eyed Phoebe, noticing something.
“Actually… I think you’ve been affected too, although to a lesser extent. You’re an Empath. That should block any mind warping magic, but it seems not to have done that. How often do you train your powers?” Arya asked.
“Pardon?” Phoebe wondered. Actually, she felt a bit stupid. She hadn’t trained her powers in a long time.
“I knew it.”
Arya grabbed Phoebe’s wrist and they both shimmered out in blue catacombs.
[The camera cranes upwards, showing Paige and Piper rolling on the lawn like little children.]
[FADE OUT]
=PART 2=
Int. Library – EARLY MORNING
Phoebe found herself in some sort of library. She looked around at the dark brown walls, holding shelves of old books. Lanterns were the only thing giving light into the room.
“Where are we?” She asked as Arya led her up a small archway of stairs to another, smaller floor.
“What is it?” A male voice uttered from a distance. Phoebe had gotten to the top of the stairs. There were more books on this floor, the only difference being that there was a desk with a man sitting in a stubby wooden chair behind it.
“We need your help” Arya demanded, grabbing the man off his seat. The man felt eager to show his distaste for Arya until he saw someone staring at him.
“A Charmed one.”
Phoebe felt something open up within her that she hadn’t felt since Cole. “Phoebe.” She said to him, introducing herself, taking a few steps forward. Arya looked at Phoebe and back at the man. “Yes, Damien, very good. We need help with a mind re-establishment spell if you don’t mind.”
Int. Cave inside Blue Mountains – TIME OF DAY UNKNOWN.
[The camera opens with two energy balls colliding into each other.]
Arcina threw a punch at Drakoetu who sidestepped, grabbed her wrist, twisted it and threw her onto the ground. Angry, she got herself up with her left hand and threw a flying kick at his chest. Instead of hitting him she fell through him. “Arch Mahk Time” He spoke quickly. Time stopped around him. Arcina was still in midair. He reached for her leg and twisted it. Time unfroze and she fell to the stone floor with a thud.
“Enough.” He said.
“I agree,” She admitted, staring at her twisted limbs. “This will take time to heal.”
Arcina’s body was very quick healing. It was said that her healing abilities were nearly one hundred times faster than that of a normal humans. A twisted arm and leg were nothing to her, easily taking within the hour to heal completely, each time getting stronger.
Drakoetu walked over and stared at the complexity of the walls. Ancient markings littered them. Like the mountains, they were a deep blue color. “If only I could decode them…” He said wearily. Arcania stood up on one leg and leaned on the wall, facing him. “I think we should move now. Even though your mind enchantment spell is taking its toll on Piper and Paige, Phoebe has been harder to attack. She might find out the way to reverse it. After that they might figure out the way to regain all their powers without the nexus.”
Int. Cemetery – NIGHT. (This takes place the night after the sister’s funeral)
[The camera shows Phoebe, Piper and Paige staring at their graves with distain.]
“What have we done?” Paige gasped, staring at her gravestone which said
PAIGE MATTHEWS
Born: August 1977
Died: August 2005.
“Demons are running around, killing people while we just stand by and watch. It’s our fault.” Paige continued. Footsteps could be heard coming toward them from the distance.
[The camera shows black shoes crushing bounds of leaves that littered the ground.]
The sisters didn’t take any notice, too caught up in their own problems.
“Don’t say that Paige,” Phoebe began to say.
“We had no choice. Zankou left us no option. If we had stayed alive the FBI would be all over us. Frankly I’m surprised that we’ve been able to keep a low profile these seven and a half years but enough’s enough…” She was saying that to comfort Paige but something in Phoebe knew what she was saying was not quite right. She didn’t have time to think about it though because somebody else had a different opinion.
“It’s funny that your graves are there, yet here you three are alive and well.” A torrid voice uttered behind them.
“Agent Keyes.” Piper gasped when she turned around to see him standing there. She threw her hands out as if to freeze him, but nothing happened. Their powers seemed to have lost them for the most part.
The middle aged balding man stepped forward into the light of the moon, revealing his face. He didn’t know much about the sisters, but he knew of Andy Treudau and recently deceased Inspector Sheridan. His look upon the sisters was the equivalent to pure disgust.
“Very good observation, Piper Mary Halliwell.” He said boldly. It seemed he even knew her middle name. Phoebe grabbed Piper’s hand and squeezed. Paige noticed that neither of them took her hand.
“We have to get out of here,” Phoebe directed. The girls tried to make a run for it but were cut short by a swarm of FBI troops, who in multitudes, hoarded out from the bushes and surrounded them from afar.
“They have guns!” Piper gasped. Paige turned around to glance at Agent Keyes.
“What are we going to do?” She asked abrasively, but too late.
With a look of hatred in his eyes Keyes gave them no solace. No time to explain. No time to make excuses for peoples lives.
“Fire!” He yelled. Almost instantaneously, all of the soldiers shot. The sound of thirty bullets erupting from loaded guns was drowned out by something other. After a second, Piper opened her eyes to see that all of the soldiers were frozen.
“Guys,” She said as Paige and Phoebe realized too.
“I didn’t do that…”
Drakoetu manifested himself into physical form in front of the sisters, giving them a tainted look of satisfaction. Piper instantly recognized him, though the other two didn’t have a clue.
“You!”
“You!?”
He had been the one who had done something that blocked them from being glamoured. It was because of him that they’re covers were blown.
“And you.” The spell weaver (slash) demon monster said back at her sarcastically.
“What do you want?” Phoebe asked with a notion of fear in her voice. Drakoetu smiled at her and explained himself.
“If I were here to kill you, you would have been dead yesterday. I’m here for him.” Drakoetu pointed at Agent Keyes. Piper gave the frozen man one last look then said
“Fine by us, Right girls?”
“Yes” Phoebe agreed. The man had nearly killed them. Paige whispered “No,” Silently. Although Keyes hated them with passion for something they didn’t do, to Paige, he was still an innocent. However, Piper and Phoebe had always had the one up on her having been witches for longer so she kept quiet and tried not to cause any trouble.
[The camera shows a close up of Keyes face as it slowly unfreezes.]
Drakoetu sent out a typical blue and black colored energy ball at Keyes. The sisters respectfully looked the other way, hearing a scream that stopped almost as instantly as it began. He was killed. Yet another misunderstood force of good had been sacrificed, Paige thought. It hadn’t been the first time she’d ignored the innocent rule either.
“You three better run before they unfreeze,” Drakoetu warned although Paige wondered why.
“See you around.” And that was it. The only time they’d actually watched a demon obliterate a human without trying to stop him. Piper released her grip from Phoebes hand and they fled from the scene. Paige took one look in the distance behind her as bullets flew into the bodies of the soldiers.
[FADE OUT]
=PART 3=
Int. Library – EARLY MORNING
“Do you have your book of shadows?” Damien asked.
“No, it’s still in our house …I think.” Phoebe replied, unsure whether it was destroyed with the nexus as well. It wouldn’t be the only thing. Their lives, the most of their power, their legacy were all destroyed. He was distracting though. Phoebe couldn’t stop looking at his dark blue eyes and tan skin. It was like a curse, her being the only sister that inherited the ‘take a chance’ gene.
“Aha.” He gasped loudly, opening a book which had a triquetra symbol on the front of it, similar to the one on the book of shadows. It was thinner though, about half the size and darker purple looking.
“What is that?” Phoebe pried, taking notice of its semblance to their own.
“It’s… my book of shadows. Where’s Arya?”
A woman newly dressed in black leather, with her dark black and blue hair tied up in a pony tail stepped out of a room. Her large boots thudded the floor, commanding attention.
“Here” Arya replied, and then quickly ran over when she saw the book Damien was holding. Phoebe wondered how anyone could run in clothes so tight.
“What have you found… oh?” She said when Damien held a page up to her.
“Phoebe.” Arya asked, “We need you to remember a spell.”
Int. Front lawn of Manor – EARLY MORNING
“Guiding Spirits, I ask your charity Lend them your focus and your clarity. Lead them to what they cannot find. Restore that and their peace of mind.” Phoebe chanted as loud as she could, standing a few feet away from her mentally defunct sisters. Arya hoped there wouldn’t be any side effects.
“A hehe heheee…” Piper bellowed then spluttered. Her eyes flashed white for a second as she sat up on the grass. Her eyes were no longer vacant and brainless.
“What’s going on?” She asked, getting up. Phoebe gave her a big hug and it seemed everything was okay but, they’d forgotten about someone.
“Oh no. Paige.” Arya alerted. Their youngest sister stood up and stared at them as if she’d never met them before.
“Paige?” Phoebe asked, wondering what was wrong.
“LIERS!” She screamed, and then made a run for it. Arya knew something like that was going to befall them. Something always did, especially when it involved her.
“Wait here, I’ll go and get her!” Arya asked, but was cut off by Piper.
“Whoa wait. Who the hell are you?” The angered eldest sister asked.
“No, it’s okay Piper. Go after her. Something tells me you might have a better chance at calming her then we would.” Phoebe urged, assuring Piper of the girl’s legitimacy.
Arya took no time and fled like a speeding bullet towards Paige who had already gained distance.
[Camera follows Arya running faster than the average twenty-something year old]
Realizing that it was time, Drakoetu manifested himself in Paige’s way. Stopping the fearful soul in her tracks.
“What… who… are you, what do you want?” Paige asked angrily, flying her hands in the air in front of her. She recognized him from the attack earlier, and from the time he had killed agent Keyes. Just on cue, Arya sped around the corner but ground herself to a quick halt when she saw him. Drakoetu shifted closer to Paige and grabbed on to her hair. Arya didn’t know what to do.
“Get off me!” Paige screamed, trying to elbow Drakoetu in chest.
No damage done. Arya had to do something so she did the only thing she thought would help. Like Prue used to, she waved her left hand, attempting to send a telekinesis blow at Drakoetu. Nothing happened so out of desperation she used her right hand, creating a ripple effect. Drakoetu only flinched then smiled that eerie smile he always did before fading out. Taking with him the youngest and most vulnerable, kicking and screaming, charmed one.
Int. Cave inside Blue Mountains – TIME OF DAY UNKNOWN.
Drakoetu threw a confused and haunted Paige onto the ground. They were in the same place where he and Arcina had sparred earlier.
“Can you do it?” Drakoetu asked.
“Do what?” Paige screamed. Still confused. Not all there in the head.
“Of course.” Arcina’s voice echoed as she shimmered in.
“This isn’t Phoebe!” She said.
“I know. Change of plans.” Drakoetu explained. “This one is still under the influence. The witches spell backfired.”
Paige felt a cold, nearly cold like ice, hand grab her chin. “This one, deep down is wondering where the line is between good and evil. She’s even wondering if her sisters are good. If they are her sisters.” Arcina smiled and understood.
“Can you show her our… good?” Drakoetu asked.

Arcina flushed but did not lower her gaze.

=PART 2=

=PART 3=
