Paige and Cole...

Found this at another site and found it interesting. I'm curious to see what you guys think.

Paige didn't mind Cole at first and than became hostile toward him after she found out he was a demon.

1. Paige my dear, he saved your life in Charmed Again part 1 along with Phoebe.

2. He saved you, your sisters and innocents on numerous occasions.

3. He may have turned evil, but he was possessed by The Source and returned to normal once the evil essence was destoryed.

Prue never trusted Cole either, but dealt with him for Phoebe.

1. She knew Cole was a demon, she just was not aware of the reality. She did not know he was up there with the evils amongst the Triad and the Source. Naturally, she was freaked..but she did calm down.

2. All for Phoebe.

3. No he did not return to normal. He went drunk with power, killed innocents, and tried to trap Phoebe against her will. All because of rejection. Normal people do not handle rejection that way...and Cole was far from normal.

Anyhow, Paige was okay with Cole up until her tarot reading in 'The Fifth Halliwell.' Paige's whitelighter side gave her a very keen sixth sense too, so she knew something was wrong with Cole. You see, when Cole was Belthazar Paige was scared, but got over it. They got along fine. Once he became The Source, Paige could tell.

As another poster said it's after the tarot reading that she decides to try and listen more to her instincts to protect her family.

It makes me laugh how Cole being the Source of All Evil and Paige helping stop him take Phoebe as his queen and destroy her family makes you think of HER as the one in the wrong. lol

Okay, I'll give Paige the benifit of the doubt and say that anyone would be scared if they found out that their sister's boyfriend was a demon. Again, it was more of the source of all evil's essence that made him that way during season 4, lets just put season 5 away for a second. What I'm trying to say is that Paige's life was saved in Charmed Again by both Phoebe and Cole. Also, even if it was for Phoebe, he did all these good things, before he was possessed by that essense and even ran in front of a fire ball launched by the source to save Phoebe. I always thought that Paige or even Phoebe for that matter would rememeber all these things and try to save him when he first returned from the wasteland and became all crazy. It seems like at least they would be nice to him or at least give it sometime that he was no longer the face of The Source instead of instantly condeming him as evil.

They were all well aware of the situation. They even had an episode in season 5 where Paige tries to rid him of his evil powers so he could just be mortal. But then they realised he'd been a demon for well over a century and had nothing else, that was what he'd become.

And even without his powers Phoebe wanted to move on. She was distraught at who he was in season 3, managed to patch things up, Prue died and then he became the Source in season 4. Then she grieved for him, and then he's back. I think it was seeing him in the wasteland in the season 4 finale that made her realise they couldn't stay together. Something would come between them again.

Just another conversation starter, I always thought their was sexual chemistry between Prue and Cole AND between Paige and Cole.

In all honesty, I think Paige was right to doubt Cole. If you put it into retrospect, if your sister begins dating a convicted murderer who has been released from prison and he pushes you out of the path of an oncoming car.

I think Cole was good for a time, or trying to be good for Phoebe's sake. Everything he did was for Phoebe, no other reason, as when he was possessed by the Source, that gave him power, it didn't alter his brain.

I think that Cole was evil, but his love for Phoebe overcame his evilness a lot during Season 4 and when Paige threatened that, he sought to eliminate her. Cole was selfish, apart from when it came to Phoebe. I loved Cole as a character, probably one of, if not THE best male character on Charmed - but I agree with almost the rest of the Charmed fandom, he should've remained dead after the Season 4 finale. That way Phoebe could've remembered her love for him, instead of turning that love into bitter hate by the time he was eventually vanquished.

I just found the conversation interesting from Paige's point of view. We always consider Cole's reactions towards Phoebe and Phoebe's reactions towards Cole. I found it interesting to consider what Paige (and Prue and Piper) might have thought of the whole thing.

I've always been a bit of a Prue/Cole & Paige/Cole shipper. I reckon both have a little something for Cole. Where as I couldn't Leo with any of the other sisters. Cole was just so compatible with all four sisters. Even Piper, those scene in the Seven Year Witch were delectable!

From a moral point of view, Cole was no better or worse than the sisters. Yes, he had a past history of evil. But both Phoebe and Paige had dubious pasts themselves. And even before they met Cole, the Halliwells made occasional forays into their own darker selves.

Cole's final "acceptance of evil" came from his emotional inability to deal with his loss of Phoebe's love. That's it. And his inability to deal with the loss of Phoebe had nothing to do with him being part demon. Look at Prue in "Death Takes a Halliwell". She was very close to giving in to evil, due to being reminded of the deaths of her mother, grandmother and Andy. And all of this came about, because she had failed to save the life of that police inspector from the Seekers. If it had not been for Cole, she would have become a warlock without anyone casting a spell on her.

Following Cole's death, the sisters had committed a good number of questionable or dark acts that left my head spinning. Yet, the series never questioned their actions with any depth. Like Prue and Cole, Piper came close to the dark side due to her inability to deal with death. She nearly destroyed San Francisco after learning about Leo's promotion to Elder status. Perhaps this would not have happened if she had not possessed the powers of a god. But I do wonder how she would have reacted with her own natural powers. Because, like Cole and Prue, Piper did not deal with loss very well.

I think the writers even back in S3 planed for a love triangle between Prue/Phoebe/Cole. Especially after western episode which showed Shannon and Julian having more chemistry than Alyssa and Julian had. Charmed loves it's love triangles. lol

It's why when Paige came into scene. A lot of her character was just stuff they planned for Prue (S4 being the biggest example of this). And in S5 they tried to make Cole/Paige. But the actors refused. Which I agree with. it would not have made sense. Although Rose and Julian did have good chemistry in S4 episode where Paige and Phoebe switch bodies. A little of topic, but: Rose played Phoebe a lot lot better then Alyssa did Paige. lol


Tho I do wonder if actors would have refused love triangle storyline if Shannon was still in the show?
