You're more than welcome TOP3 -- glad I could make your day like that. It sure does. "How do you say 'thank you' to fans who have given you a 27-year career? You play the one character you said you would never play again, because they want you to play it." Awwww. *grins* Here's some more fun stuff for your reading pleasure -- I found these during a break between my classes this morning at my "secret source for all things relating to the new 90210 & Shannen". It's hearing / reading things like this from her that make me so proud to have 'Shannen Fan' in my sig.

Anyone who thinks she's a major b**** should read those articles and they'll see how genuine she truly is. Thanks for posting them Primrose. ;D
So guys... it's pretty much a week away now!

Gosh I love Shannen. People seriously do need to get over themselves when they say such horrible things about her. She's a person who truly has grown and I just wish the rest of society would grow up as well. I always have and always will be a Shannen fan and I'm so proud to say it!!
I finally got season 4 tonight and I plan on speed watching it this week before the premiere in a week!!
Though I still wish that Dylan would come back and Brenda and Dylan would finally be reunited. ;D

You two fellow Shannen-fans are more than welcome! I'm thrilled to no end to be reading and seeing all of this positive news lately. It's such a refreshing change from hearing the media bash her all the time. What makes me just as estatic is that of the original characters / actresses that are returning, who are people the most excited about seeing again? Whose return is generating the most buzz / publicity for the show? It's NOT Kelly, that's for darned sure. *huge grin* Ha ha ha -- eat that Jennie Garth!! Oh, don't we all? That would be a dream scenario of epic proportions. *sighs wistfully* Guess we'll take what we can get, though -- as long as he didn't end up with Kelly (that pairing just makes me gag). You got the S4 DVDs, TOP3? Lucky duck. The CBS site has been serving me quite well for the trip down memory lane -- especially since it's free (and has basically all the epis from S1-3 -- and all of S4). Good luck with that speed viewing, sweetie! Six Days And Counting...

I saw a couple of short interviews over at Shandoweb and Shannen's looking gooood! And it would appear this apparent love triangle with one of the teacher and Brenda/Kelly seems to be wrong. Shannen says that she'd never play a love triangle. I wouldn't want to see Dylan again. It's too "I love Kelly. No I love Brenda." I find Dylan's character to bring too much melodrama (especially with later seasons with the whole father's car blowing up and then his wife getting killed...) But you know what character needs to return? Andrea Zuckerman. I love her. I think it's a shame her and Brandon never got together because I thought they had excellent chemistry... and she had great chemistry with Brenda too.

So the whole new love triangle thing was just a rumor? Thank God! I would've been totally po'd if they put her character through that again. Once was bad enough. Speaking of one part of the infamous triangle, I can fully understand your feelings about not wanting Dylan to come back -- he was a main cause of all the drama. After all, this is taking place eight years later, and hopefully everyone will have moved on and put the past behind them. Guess my wistful thinking was what would be called one of those "girlie shipper moments" . Bring Andrea back, hmm? I could go with that -- she was a great character. And I'll second that she and Brandon had some wonderful chemistry. While that particular character pairing was never really pursued is beyond me. You'll never guess what I found! That's right...a new treat. The media is just spoiling us recently with all this good stuff. It's definitely worth a read. I also got quite a kick out of what's written over and over on the chalkboard behind the pic of Jennie on page 3: "I will not steal my best friend's boyfriend". *snickers*

Arg!! You beat me again Primrose! You totally rock! I was on my way over to post about this!! I'm SO getting this week's Entertainment Weekly!!
And I absolutely love what's written on the blackboard! Too bad she didn't take that advice about 15 years ago!

I saw the cover over at So Beautiful forums (an Idina Menzel forum...) and I'm definitely going to pick up the magazine. Shannen looks positively divine.
I'm guessing the Andrea/Brandon thing was either overlooked because Andrea wasn't a "Kelly Taylor", because Gabrielle Carteris might have considered it weird because she was older, or perhaps it was just because by the time they would have written it GC was pregnant...
I'm barely making my way through the second season... and Kelly must be the world's worst best friend to even get with Dylan. I'm not looking forward to those episodes.

So I rock, TOP3? Thanks. I'm not usually the one who beats others to the punch (and not just once, but multiple times!), so hearing that makes me grin. Foxfire, those are very vaild points you brought up about them not furthering the Andrea / Brandon pairing beyond the friendship that it was. The ages of the actors never even crossed my mind as being a reason -- but it is a good one. And "world's worst best friend" is putting it rather mildly when it comes to the whole Kelly-getting-with-Dylan-behind-Brenda's-back-when-she's-out-of-the-country-thing. To me a good relationship is one that is based on love and honesty -- not cheating and sneaking around, like what K / D did. This "secret source" of mine for info has been a total lifesaver. And before any of you ask or try the puppy-dog eyes -- nope -- I will not reveal what it is. If I did that, it wouldn't be a secret anymore, now would it? More fun stuff for you. Although this isn't directly about Shannen, there are parts that do pertain to her, which I will post below the link. Interview with Shenae Grimes, who plays Annie on the 90210 spinoff. The best thing about it is that she's not only a fan and avid watcher of the original series, but also a Brenda and Brenda / Dylan fan. Here are some of the highlights (ie - the things pertaining to Shannen / Brenda):And you're shooting at the same location as the original West Beverly High, yeah?
Yes! We shot in El Segundo at Torrance High School, which is so cool! I was like tripping out, walking through the quad like, this is so weird! The whole cast looks at me like, you're such a loser. And I'm like, you have no idea how exciting this is for a fan, ok?!
Yeah, as a die hard 9-0 fan, I'm actually thankful there's someone in the cast who can appreciate how cool it is.
Yeah! I can't believe I'm the only one. Like, hello, where were you guys?! Yeah, we were young, but whatever.
Did you have a favorite character growing up?
Dylan McKay, obviously. Every girl's fantasy, right? And I loved Brenda too.
Oh, good, you’re a Brenda girl, not a Kelly girl.
Noooo.
Kelly stole Dylan, so...
Thank you! I was waiting for them to get back together forever, and then she was gone and it's a sad, sad story. Dylan and Brenda should have been together forever.
So how excited are you that Shannen Doherty is on the show?
Uh, yeah. Hi! Oh my gosh. Like, Jennie [Garth] was cool and I was freaking out about that. And I freaked out when I found out Nat was back. I met Joey [Tata] and it was just like, Oh my gosh, I know who you are, you don’t need to introduce yourself to me! But Shannen, man, that's my be-all-end-all right there. And she's playing the guest director of the play, and I'm in the play, so we actually get to work together, which is frickin wild. I just sit there in awe and try to soak it all in. Five Days Left...

Just a quick question, does anyone think the new 90210 will be emotionally compelling and will deal with issues that we face in reality? Or will it be a superficial knock-off of the original?
I hope they're not going the Melrose route on this show.

That's a most interesting question you pose there. The eternal optomist in me (who tries to see the best in everything) would love to say:
"Yes. This might very well turn out to be a possibly emotionally compelling program that highlights and deals with (in some form or another) some of the actual issues faced by today's generation of teenagers."
But on the flip side of the coin, the realist in me is vehemetly shaking her head and going:
"No way. Absolutely no way. It's not gonna happen. This just going to turn out to be a knock-off of the original, where the only similiarities are in the setting and the name. Because when you really think about it, weren't / aren't most of the teen dramas back then and nowadays a knock-off in some way of the original 90210?"
Right now, I'm tempted to agree with my realist side until the show proves that side of me to be wrong.
Now I've got a question for you, Foxfire. What did you mean when you said that you hope that they're "not going to go the Melrose route on this show?"
It's been forever and a day since I've seen an epi of Melrose Place, and honestly...I can't even remember the basic premise of the show. All I remember is that it was a fairly long-running sorta but sort not spin-off of the original 90210. But outside of that, I'm coming up blank here. The only conclusion that I am drawing is that "going the Melrose route" is all in all not a good thing.

First, I wanna say that I've seen a handful of episodes. My mom used to watch it.
So, my knowledge is not that great.
When I heard that they were making a spin off, I rolled my eyes. And then I heard that Jennie Garth will be in it. And I decided that I'm gonna give it a shot. Because Kelly Taylor is my favorite on the show. *looks around*
And then SHANNEN! *SQUEAL* I admit, I wasn't a Brenda fan. But, I really don't remember much from the HS years. Not that I remember a lot in any of the show...lol. But, yeah. I just love Shannen.
Not a fan of Dylan's at all. Couldn't care less about him. BD has no interest for me. But, Kelly/Brandon is my favorite couple. *sighs*
And Kelly has a four-year-old. Who's the baby daddy? Let's take bets, shall we? lol
EDIT: Okay, I'm watching the first ep. I just remembered, I LOVE DAVID! *giggles*

I KNOW!! (About the fact that every teen show after 90210 has been a poor knock-off) I really can't watch teen shows because they're so contrived and poorly written... as I've said over and over though... I did LOVE Popular as it was a satire. Mind you, I love Buffy but that's actually a good show. As for the Melrose comment... I don't watch the show... and can't. It's all stunt drama... I try watching it but it's over-the-top. It's too much... like one character wore a wig (the character played by Marcia Cross) and according to Kristin Davis she said that every week she'd be calling someone a bitch and she had a hard time keeping track of who she was supposed to hate on the show. Then she moved onto SATC. I really don't want the new 90210 to be all... DRAMA. You know? I like that the original had heart... I loved that at the end of each episode Brandon and Brenda talked to each other... I loved that Jim and Cindy were such good parents and were so warm and caring. I loved that Kelly made mistakes, I loved that Donna was so shy and cute, I loved that despite Steve's relative rudeness it was a nice guy, I love that Andrea was a nerd, I loved that... okay I'm going to stop now. As for Kelly's baby-daddy... that's interesting... was she paired up with anyone during the finale of the first 90210? I know Donna+David got married...

Ah but Jackie the HS years were the best!!
I'm so Brenda-centric and I ADORE Brylan!! I'm nearing the end of my 4th season marathon and I have to say I'm uber depressed since these are Brenda's final eps (until now!!). I feel so bad for her..she truly gets skrewed over so much and it's like the whole world is ganging up on her.
Kelly's baby daddy..hm..I've "heard" that its going to be one of Kelly's past loves. So help me if it's Dylan I'll *kill*.....I much prefer it to be Brandon. Then that would make the child Brenda's niece/nephew. Hehe!
You should really watch more Jackie! While I can say I haven't seen the whole series either..I've seen the first 4 seasons and episodes here and there post-Brenda. Right now I'm in such a 9-0 mood it's all I can think about and talk about! I've already started making plans for vids! Hehe..yes I am crazy...I admit it..

Ahh, so you're a Kelly fan -- but you love Shannen. I can live with that. Honestly, the only time(s) I could semi-stand Kelly (in the few times that I watched any epi past Season 4) was when she was with Brandon. When she was with him, she was actually tolerable in my eyes. And David? He's an absolute trip, especially early on. I love his geekiness. Just like I love Donna's shy sweetness -- those two were a great match. Foxfire -- thanks for clearing up the "Melrose" comment for me. Like I said, it had been forever and a day since I had seen an epi of that show, and now I remember why I didn't watch it. I get what you were saying and join you in hoping that this new version doesn't go the overly dramatic route. The examples you pointed out in the original 9-0 about it having heart are some of the very reasons why I became hooked on the show and was such a faithful viewer for the first 4 seasons. I'll ditto that. The HS years were the best, although I do like Season 4 also. The only thing that bugs me about Season 4 is all the crap that they put Brenda through -- especially near the end when it seems like the whole world is against her when 1) she gets arrested and then 2) with the play and the rumors about how she got the part. No wonder she jumped at the chance to go study in London (and why we didn't see her again until now) -- the girl probably felt like she didn't have a friend in the world left in BH. At points it even seemed to me like her own brother was against her. And don't even get me started on ol' Jim -- it was obvious (to me, at least) from day 1 that he treated his two kids differently and cut Brandon so much more slack than he cut Brenda. But what I loved was that even though she lived in that stifling, controlling enviroment with her parents and overshadowing brother she still wanted to be a part of their family. And I admired her strength of character. She was stronger than ever when she left despite all the bad things she went through during her 4 years on the show. Those last two paragraphs were purely me venting, but you get what I mean. 3 Days And Counting...

Oh I totally understand Primrose and completely agree. And I was seriously struggling to remind myself that I like Kelly with Brandon all the while watching seasons 3 and 4. It was just so frustrating and of course Dylan and Kelly break up in the finale...right when Brenda leaves...damn the luck!!
Seriously..do not get me started on Jim. I think he's a great parent in some eps and just downright unreasonable in others. I fully believe that he's one of the main reasons Brenda and Dylan broke up. Dylan put up with so much crap from Jim Walsh and him controlling Brenda and her relationship with him. Part of me believes they were at their best when Brenda was hiding her relationship with Dylan from her parents. And they wondered why she acted out at times?
Though I was excited and pissed at the same time of Brenda's last scene. Excited because it ended with her and Dylan but pissed because...we don't see what happens next!! She's just gone...ugh! But I was happy they ended her run on the show with a Brylan moment. ;D

*smiles* Thanks TOP3 -- I'm glad you understood and agreed with my venting.
Part of me wonders if the way Bren was treated in S4 (especially latter S4) had something to do with the writers / producers taking out their frustrations with Shannen out on her character. I know it seems a bit far-fetched, but at the same time, I'm betting that something like that happening might not have been completely out of the realm of possibility.
Ol' Jim sounds like he's a mutual point of frustration for the both of us. I understand fathers being protective of their daughters, but there were times (more often than not) where he just took it to the extreme and acted like a completely unreasonable a$$. Those were the moments where I was just shaking my fist at the screen.
I didn't feel the slightest bit sorry for the guy at the beginning of Season 3 when Brenda gave him what-for at the beach club, ran off to stay with Dylan, and refused to come home. As a matter of fact, I cheered for Brenda -- that was a gutsy move on her part and something I would never have had the nerves to do. My thoughts on the matter? "Sorry Jimbo. You had it coming."
Brenda's very last lines in the series (up until now, of course) made me cheer and broke my heart at the same time:
"I won't be gone forever, Dylan. Give me something to come back to."

I actually find myself really liking Kelly for the most part of season one and two. I find that the characters tend to treat her like some dumb whore... who she really isn't (like in the episode where Brenda/Brandon's cousin comes to town and he's in a wheelchair... everyone is so quick to blame Kelly for his sadness). But I will admit that sometimes she can be a royal pain in the ass and a total bitch.
Brenda and Brandon are treated so differently it's sickening. I love it whenever Brenda chews out her father because she's usually always right. Remember when Brenda first started sleeping with Dylan? The double standard was gross. Jim treats Brandon like his little star.
But at least there was always Cindy. Personally, having seen the show from the beginning (I'm mostly 3/4 if not more through season two now) I can safely say that Cindy Walsh is probably my favourite character. She supports Brenda no matter what (remember the episode where she helps Brenda get even with her bitchy boss?)
I've never seen any of season four... (except maybe the episode where Kelly gets back from her Paris trip when she was with Dylan...) but from the way you guys have put it.... it's way obvious the writers were writing Brenda's character poorly so she'd have less fans and so they could easily write her out without too many people being upset.
And getting back to David... I don't think I've ever forgiven him for what he did to Donna. Mind you... that poor girl just has zero luck when it comes to guys.
