There's also an encore on Wednesday night at 9 Eastern / 8 Central. If you want to see the two from the original show (and Shannen is one of them), tonight is their last episode.
Speaking of said episode, allow me to vent here...
*takes deep breath*
Let me start off by saying I'm disgusted about what happened with the originals. Absolutely disgusted. I expected what was coming but to actually see it play out is still a shock to my system.
As a Brenda fan, I was totally insulted last night. First, we get Adrianna's degrading comment that basically references Brenda as an aged, has-been, wanna be actress that didn't accomplish much. The show never even attempted to make it look like Brenda had a successful career. She's portrayed as moping around or something, still pining for Dylan, and living in Kelly's shadow as a friend. That's NOT the Brenda I remembered and loved.
It felt as if they took all the Brenda dignity away with that dialogue. I know she's always been a great friend no matter what, but concerning the whole D/K crap, she would never give her input in such a cozy way. I can see her saying: "Kelly, get a grip and work your own issues out before throwing any kind of lecture on me". Real Brenda would not be this submissive.
How can any Bren fan actually be happy she came back for this fricking delusional show? These writers are out in their own alternate universe here.
They've totally broken down her character by using her to pump up Kelly and D/K. That's the only thing I saw coming out of this storyline. Shannen may have come back for the fans but Brenda was not written for her fans at all. She was clearly written for the people who didn't like her. It was character assassination, pure and simple.
What Brenda said stabbed me in the heart as a B/D fan. To dismiss how serious her and Dylan's relationship was? Tears of sadness and anger actually came to my eyes when Brenda made the comment about D/K being more than B/D. I couldn't help it. That was a mega slap in the face, and it hurt.
Let us take a trip back in time to last night...
Basically, after the phone call we saw in the promo, Kelly tells Ryan that she can't put any thought into a relationship with him because Dylan wants her and Sammy to be with him and she needs to sort that out. Then, Ryan plants the idea in her head that maybe there was more to the phone call if Dylan was calling Brenda's phone. This leads to a scene in Kelly's home with Brenda and Sammy having fun in Kelly's living room. Kelly watches and then excuses Sammy so she can talk to Brenda. Kelly accuses Brenda of old habits dying hard with Ryan. That's where Brenda is like "What is that suppose to mean?"
Kelly confronts Brenda about the fact that Dylan called her phone. Brenda tries to tell her that it's nothing. Kelly accuses Brenda that maybe she saw it has an opportunity for herself and Brenda says that she and Dylan have been over for a long time. That what they had going on (D/K), was always more than they had (B/D). Then, Brenda offers her D/K support by saying that Kelly and Sammy deserve to be happy and that if that means living on a ranch with Dylan that she supports it. *gags*
Brenda goes on to explain that Dylan got into contact with Brandon first. She said he asked Brandon for her (Brenda's) email address so that he could figure out how to get into contact with Kelly. And that's why he was calling her phone, I guess.
The exact dialogue was so nauseating that I can't even remember it word for word. I was trying to block it out after I heard it.
Here (in my mind) are the cringe-worthy lines and moments of last night's epi...
1. Adrianna's comment about not wanting to end up as an actress like Brenda (Anti-Brenda)
2. "History repeats itself" comment by Kelly about Ryan and Dylan (Anti-Brenda)
3. Brenda saying she can't remember the last time she saw Dylan (Anti-B/D)
4. Brenda saying Dylan contacted her by email from Africa (thanks to Brandon)(Pro-D/K since he was calling about Kelly wanting to know if she was in a relationship)
5. Brenda appearing to support Dylan and Kelly "reconnecting" Wow, that's disgusting to even type. (Anti-B/D, Pro-D/K)
6. Kelly's "Maybe you were trying to keep the door open for yourself" comment. OMG! STFU Kelly! (Anti-Brenda)
7. "Dylan and I are ancient history" comment by Brenda, "Ever After on a Ranch with Dylan, I am all for it" comment too. (Anti-B/D, Pro-D/K)
Seriously, strong supporters of D/K had to be writing for this show. They must have lied about never seeing the original. I have never seen such a blatant attempt to bring down and destroy two big shipper fanbases all inside of one episode.
I mean, I don't care if they wanted to do a nod to the D/K ending. I have to admit that it was a natural thing to do since the original show ended with them together. *rolls eyes*
The thing I'm pissed off with and I'll never forgive is the way they played with Brenda, B/K, and B/D fans. They used us only to get their precious ratings, and 'till the last moments, they gave us hope as if we were gonna enjoy it and get a "nostalgia" feeling...when the only thing we got to watch was our 'ships / characters smashed and bleeding to death.
I am also appalled that B/D fans were discarded like we never even existed. And the more I analyze the last scene, the more it makes me sick. Because I'm sure it was intended by the writers to show us that Brenda was letting go of Dylan and FINALLY not interferring so D/K could have the relationship they deserve. THAT is how they've spun it and it's disgusting. Kelly was the one that needed to back out of B/D -- not the other way around.
All this new show is doing is getting the original pairings all messed up all over again and that's the one thing they SHOULDN'T be doing because it's obvious the majority of viewers watched it for the original 90210 cast more than they do the new one.
Oh, one last thing. Writers and CW? Thanks for totally tearing apart people's hopes of not only a B/D reunion but a B/K one too by giving them different families. Yeah, that's just GREAT to know. Just act like neither pairing ever existed and were never in love at all. Yeah, great idea. Whatever.
