I’m also for Cole and Phoebe. No matter how difficult or destructive their relationship got, deep down there was a deep love connection between them. Phoebe just decided on her own for whatever reasons, to block him out in season 5. More because he now had all those new powers and secondly because she knew the call of evil was so tempting to her and she knew she would fall on love again and eventually give into evil if she was brought near it. Her greatest fear. Then the only way to keep him away was for phoebe to give Cole an impossible and ridiculous ultimatum “If you ever use your powers again for evil or Good we will vanquish you”. Really?
Poor Cole. I’ve always wondered what would have happened if cole remained a human in “Sympathy for a demon” after Barbas got his Powers? Would phoebe have eventually taken him back?
As for Drake, phoebe and Drake were also a good couple. But there’s the Cole thing looming over his head. How would phoebe react if she ever found out cole was the one who set him up with her? If Drake didn’t die and he remained with phoebe, he would either have to keep Coles involvement a secret and live with it on his conscience or he would have had to find a way of letting phoebe know without her getting major upset

Not Cole he ruined my favorite sister. Drake was a better choice. He should have been on for 2 seasons and Cole for a 8 episode arc.

Not Cole he ruined my favorite sister. Drake was a better choice. He should have been on for 2 seasons and Cole for a 8 episode arc. Oh, if only! Although you know if they did do that, Kern would've ruined Drake. |

Yeah, he would've though you can always read stories where fans have had Drake as Phoebe's man instead of Cole if you want.

I don't think I'd have even registered for this forum if Charmed was perfect. It would just be small conversations and then I'd don't discuss further on my favorite show. I guess this is why you Charmed is among the top 10 or 20 fanfics based on shows, I rarely see ones for other cult shows that were perfect. So I agree with you. |

Amen! I've always thought that if Charmed had been done better, I wouldn't be as interested in it now as I am, because it's those "what could've been" that fascinates me. In no particular order, (these are my top faves)
1. Drake - He wasn't on enough. Billy Zane did a FABULOUS job of playing this character, they should've made him Phoebe's last love interest, since he was on near the end.
2. Cupid, season 2 - LOVE Michael Reilly Burke! He's been on several shows I've watched, and when he came on this one, I always wished he had been on more than one episode.
3. Billy - Her fantasy guy. That episode gave us some of the best lines and best scenes of the season, I think.
4. Coop - If she couldn't have the three above, I was glad she ended up with Coop. I did like him. I liked how she ended up with a Cupid.

Myself personally I would've had season 2 Cupid come back season 8 instead of Coop had Michael been available as even though he was only on the show once he and Phoebe pulled off good chemistry together I think.

1. Drake - so funny, great chemistry.
2. Jason - this didn't have to end, honestly. Too bad it didn't continue.
3. Dex - I saw some potential there, actually.
4. Leslie - cute chemistry.
5. Coop - rushed relationship...not believable.
6. Miles - ugh, no.
7. Cole - while the storyline was very engrossing and acted very well, Cole was abusive and wrong for her. Sad, but true.

1 - Drake - He made phoebe smile and he was a very enthusiastic guy. It did bring a new vitality in the show
2 - Cole -They would have been a great couple.Julian McMahon is a very good actor and is very handsome
3 - Cupid - I actually think Cupid should have been back as coop
4 - Dex seems nice but it's one of the rushed relationship. He thought he did fall in love with Julie Bennett. If Phoebe would not have been in such a hurry to find someone, things would have been different
5 - Coop only 5th because we don't really know him and there is no chemistry with Phoebe.
I wanted to put Clay but their stories would have never lasted. It was too risky too have a mortal so long and with Clay, phoebe was not yet heartbroken by Coole, she was still innocent.
Phoebe and Jason was not a match. The guy was a business man and very strict. Phoebe would have been better with someone like Drake a poet, a dreamer or an artist like Dex. He was away too rigid and she was a free spirit.
Leslie they did not even really date.

For me:
1 - Coop: He was perfect for Phoebe. She deserved a literal cupid after all she has been through. You can't go wrong in love with a Cupid. Also, she was Cupid's ring in S2, she brought couples together which is pretty much she ends up doing at the end.
2 - Drake: I liked that he opened her heart up to love but I feel like he never loved her - he just did it for Cole.

Ugh! This was one of Charmed's worst mistakes. I'd say next to not making Phoebe mourn over her deceased source baby the love interests were among the worst thing to happen to this character. Outside of Cole and Drake all of them were terrible! Either by performance or having little to no interesting dynamics.
I absolutely hated Phoebe with Cole, but I liked the idea. A bad guy gone good is certainly a trope used a lot, but one that works effectively if used right and what better way to have the then, most free spirit and carefree sister turn a demon into an ally? WRONG! Said Season 3, instead at just first sight from seeing him in a courtroom she falls for him, then once demon fighting priorities come into play in Sight Unseen (AKA Cole falling into Prue's demon trap) she's willing to shove them aside and dismiss any possibility he's connected to being a demon, despite falling into a trap specifically for demons!
On top of that I just loathe her 180 personality change when he's around, it's like she's this bitter person who constantly acts overemotional (I.E. always sounding really worried, then lovey dovey, then scared/dismissive) she's not able to have any of her personality traits as long as she's with him! Like just her tone of voice and the look she gives Prue after she rushes to check on him was very unpleasant, almost like she was a DEMON!
I may dislike Piper/Leo, but at least in Seasons 2-4 Piper would be her old self when the scene/episode allowed her to be. Then there's Power Outage (AKA the episode that killed Phoebe completely) where she's so in love that Piper's priorities and Piper herself are just a second thought simply because Cole asking her out was more important than her responsibilities. Then there's running Prue's car out of gas for another! From then onward she never got better!
As for Cole himself, it's nothing against Cole since he's one of the demons to have actual character and arc and personality, aside from his Stalker with a Crush persona in Season 5 I liked the good moments we did get with him, I just wish so much wasn't connect with Phoebe. Overall I DO like Cole as much as I rag on how much he ruined my once favorite Charmed One, I just don't like what he brought to Phoebe's character so I their relationship loses out for me.
Then there's Jason Dean, hated this one, especially since most of it is in the awful Season 6. Jason is just a sugar daddy who only served to echo chamber and mouth piece to build up on how much Phoebe is great at writing her "Advice column" with how much he tries to build her to celeberity status to the point most real stars today would shutter. Phoebe just never loved him imo. Not long after dating Jason she cheats on him TWICE when he goes to Hong Kong, despite the relationship not ending. Oh and let's not forget it begins the repetitive and groaning cycle of "Phoebe is struggling/mislead by her thoughts on love, she meets a man that helps her remember the meaning of love rinse/repeat)
If someone has to keep existing to help Phoebe learn the same thing over and over, then her job is not only frivilous, but she's unprofessional! On top of that he's just too strict for her type of character.
With Leslie this is quite possibility the WORST of the love interests. Firstly the actor is bad in my opinon, secondly he comes off as unlikable the moment he's onscreen, from printing a paper without her permission (especially in Charrrmed) to Phoebe's sudden sexist attitude regarding men. She must have taken a page from Penny, because she's suddenly hating men and bashing Leslie simply because she can't stand to have a man dare to write a column in her name when he ghost writes for her. Then somehow starts to make out with him?
I also hate when she first meets Leslie and instantly her response to men writing advice to people is "Not as well as a woman can no" yet as an "empath" she couldn't even bother understanding human emotions (like in Used Karma not even being able to understand Jason) there was absolutely no chemistry with him and only served to further her sexists attitude (which she projects onto Kyle Brody later in the season) only for him to leave and never come back, much like Jason and they aren't mentioned again.
FOr Dex Lawson, Phoebe once again had NOTHING in common with him and he was just used as an excuse to fuel her baby mamma destiny. With her only noteworthy obstacle being a earthquake premonition which only meant something to her because it would "ruin" her date. On top of that Dex never connects with Phoebe, but rather her fake persona Julie and when she does meet him they have a conversation about taking things slow, only for him to disappear and not be mentioned again.
I also really despised Phoebe in this arc. Firstly when Billie's spell to try and help her goes awry and accidentally marries both of them, Phoebe (and Piper) both chew her out for using magic, only for Phoebe to buy into Billie's spell simply because it played into her premonition's outcome (which she abused), not because she and Dex were "right" for each other, but because she realized Dex was her baby ticket. Not helping matters that she forces a romantic relationship with him under a complete lie and takes his reaction to it as a joke!! NEXT!!!!
Coop. Nope, he was obviously forced at last minute just so she'd have a love interest by the end of the show. On top of that he completely influences her in the wrong way. When Phoebe wants to try and do good and fight evil, Coop instead derails that and makes her focus on herself and love again, as if it's the only goal she should have. Even though love has been her biggest obstacle the whole time! Then there's the Elders thinking they used him to owe her when she did nothing to deserve him and her actions had been completely selfish prior to meeting him. No really chemistry between them either outside of Coop preaching to her about love and her doing a "I don't want to listen, but I do" persona almost the whole time.
Lastly is Drake, and boy is it fitting for the best for last title. Drake is the ONLY love interest Phoebe should've absolutely ended off with. He did the complete opposite of Cole and rather than make her insufferable he brought out the side of her that was missed from earlier seasons while being a complete joy himself to watch, on top of that they had actual chemistry and I could totally see Phoebe seeing her previous self back within him, it's the reason episodes like Show Ghouls and Seven Year Witch did her so well, because Drake was great! I just hate the fact he was only a ploy in Cole's scheme to "not make her give up on love" that was dumb and ruined what could've saved Phoebe's character.
Bottomline Cole and Drake were her only good love interests, and with the former its only because of character, whereas the latter its because their chemistry was really good.

I'm going to repeat from Page One since my opinion hasn't changed.
The Men in Phoebe's Life::
1. Leo - not as a lover, but as a friend and guide who was always there for her. Can't say that about any other man in Phoebe's life.
2. Victor - Phoebe was always Daddy's little girl and because she never grew up - it was always all about her - he should've remained the most important man in her life.
3. Billy of S2 - Even though he was a fantasy guy to end all fantasy guys, he was so great for her! You never saw her that dreamy about anyone else. When Billie first showed up, I truly thought that she was another visitor from the future - the daughter whose sperm donor Phoebe had been looking for - named after Billy from "Kill it Before it Dies" rather than just named that so they could have "Kill Billie, Vol 1" and "Kill Billie, Vol 2".
4. Cupid of S2. I loved Phoebs best when she was with him. I wish the Elders had sent HIM to PhoeME rather than Coop. Had they, she might have gone back to being my Phoebs, but a grownup version.
5. Cole of early S3. I loved Phoebs second-best when she was with him before she knew that he was a demon. She was so excited and so happy and so in love. Too bad she was always in love with the lawyer and not the demon he truly was.
6. Drake of S7. I loved Phoebs third-best when she was with him. He brought my Phoebs back! Oh, had I missed her!! Hadn't seen her since she lied to Prue about vanquishing Cole. But once he died, she went right back to being PhoeME.
The rest I'll just clump together as bottom place, especially Cole starting with "Sleuthing with the Enemy". Couldn't stand PhoeME when she was with those other guys, so I couldn't stand those guys. They were all fantasy guys when she so desperately needed a very hard slap of reality. An exception would be Clay who wouldn't even make the list.
