I'm transferring parts of a different thread here to continue this discussion.
The true villains in S7-8 were the sisters themselves.
I'm curious to see if I'll feel the same way during my own re-watch where I'm skipping S5 and S6 and certain S7 episodes...
And, OH! Are we getting off-topic! We should transfer this topic to a different thread!
"Its time to cleanse yourself of the sins of the flesh. Its time to leave your family and become a full time elder."
I don't see how being married and having a family is sinful but whatever. According to Gideon, Leo was in sin? So that perception must be implanted in the other elders as well? So why help bring them together?
I think Gideon was just using the idea of it being sinful in order to get Leo away from his family, knowing that Leo would be the one most likely to prevent Gideon from killing Wyatt (which is why I think Chris sent Leo to Valhalla...)
That's not what was going on in Season 7. They were trying to separate him because as proven in Season 6, he couldn't do his duty as an Elder if he was also with Piper, just like he hadn't done his job as a whitelighter since he and Piper got married, and especially after Prue died when Piper made him feel guilty for not saving her, so suddenly Leo gave in to everything that Piper wanted and wasn't a true guide at all.
The original Elders let Piper and Leo get married because they saved their a$$es from Eames the darklighter, an extraordinarily stupid reason since it now let Piper think that she could do whatever she wanted to, especially after Prue was killed and Piper started guilting Leo into letting her do whatever she wanted him to do because he hadn't savd Prue.
Also stupid, so but so typical Brad Kern.

I'm currently watching season 7. To me it still doesn't make any sense why the elders would care if Leo and Pipe were back together. If anything, it seemed they wanted Leo away from his family. Tricking him as posing as a truck driver is proof in itself the Elders were nothing but manipulaters. If they wanted Leo and Piper together, why the dire extremes to bring them apart? It was Leo who chose to fall from grace anyway.I've always believed that the Elders in S7 were the whitelighters who were raised to Elderhood after the original ones (who were usually right, even if Piper never thought so - as soon as Leo and Piper started to fall in love, he should've been taken away and kept away because they *couldn't* do their jobs...either that, or Leo should've given up his wings as his wedding gift to Piper...) were massacred by the Titans, thanks to Chris not telling Leo in time for Leo to warn the Elders, and who, like Leo, had the power go to their heads. They were more demonic than the demons, who with the lone exception of Zankou were simply pitiful as villains - including the Source, the Triad, Dumain, the Jenkinses in S8.

I just don't see why they would care about their relationship. They had already split up in season 6 and had no interest whatsoever. Gideon even tells Leo"Its time to cleanse yourself of the sins of the flesh. Its time to leave your family and become a full time elder."
