Found this interesting analysis of Wyatt on the IMDB boards:
He is not stronger than the Charmed Ones. He is equivalent to the Charmed Ones. That is why it would take the Power of Three to bind Wyatt's powers(Prince Charmed). In order to bind someone so powerful, it would take someone else of equal power. All the power the sisters have as a trio he has in himself. That is why he is feared because alone, he can do what the sisters can do together. Just like the Source has all the world's evil inside him, he is Wyatt's evil counterpart and the Triad is the Charmed Ones' evil counterparts.
People mistakenly believe Wyatt to be stronger than all the sisters combined, he is not. He is stronger than them individually. The twice blessed prophecy talks about his power. He is a culmination of the power of a Charmed One and a Whitelighter, two strong forces of magic in the universe. Add that to his being a first born witch, he is very powerful. The show never implied he was more powerful than the sisters, I think fans misinterpreted that. Piper not wanting to get him angry as a child in Imaginary Friends is simply her fear that her little boy is more powerful than herself and she did not want to see the extent of what he can do if he were angry, because that power he would unleash would be equal to something the sisters can do with the Power of Three.
The prophecy says the Charmed Ones are the most powerful good witches(plural) the world has ever seen. The twice blessed prophecy says Wyatt will be the most powerful witch(singular) to walk the earth. His existence isn't discrediting the Melinda Warren prophecy. They are just two prophecies that intersect each other.
He wouldn't be as powerful if Leo were just human. In actuality, he would most likely be a strong telekinetic witch like Prue and Penny. This was held over to Chris when he came on the show. He had telekinetic abilities, but because Wyatt was already born and the prophecy came true, the same would not happen for him. Leo being an elder at the time wouldn't make him more powerful, I believe elders and whitelighters have the same genes, they are just different in the hierarchy of angels in the Charmed universe. So it showed that he would just be a telekinetic witch. Because his future was different at the time, when he was born under different circumstances, his magical upbringing was nurtured, resulting in him developing more abilities, such as teleorbing and remote orbing. Abilities he did not have in season 6.
Yeah, powers don't make the witch. It's their magic that makes the witch. Like who knew Piper would ever develop combustion, making her so much stronger than her sisters when in the beginning she was just a freezing witch. Think of powers as something separate than a witch's magic.
In the Charmed universe, there is no greater power than the Power of Three. There are forces in that same universe that can be a match, or equivalent to the Power of Three(Wyatt, Billie, the Triad)
In Wyatt's case, he is equivalent, but his magic is Charmed magic, but not the Power of Three itself. I think they wanted to imply that even though he is very powerful, he may not ever be able to do what the Charmed Ones could do with the Power of Three. That only belongs to the sisters. In Billie's case, she is a rare witch with the gift of projection who, if she wanted, could will that the Charmed Ones never existed. That in itself is some strong mojo. As for the Triad, they've got a collective of evil magic that is strongest when they are together, like the sisters. They were always a match for the sisters, but because they got ahead of themselves, recklessly trying to vanquish the sisters without teamwork, they proved to be a little threat than they thought. Something the sisters do well together, teamwork.
