Heathers vs Jawbreaker vs Mean Girls

I had this discussion with a few of my friends, and I wanted to see where you guys all stand on these 3 movies that are very often grouped together as the classic high school mean girls films. I posted it here because two of the movies starred Rose McGowan and Shannen Doherty before they were on Charmed.

They all are about mean girls in high school, and all have their pros/cons. SPOILERS BELOW!! Here is my take on all of them:

HEATHERS

I really didn't like this movie. Out of the 3, it is by far my least favourite. I think it was too serious and was the most unrealistic. They actually did kill people intentionally in this movie, and in my opinion is the least accurate portrayal of high school, and the whole murdering really turns me off and makes the movie into something that I dislike. I don't have that much to say about this movie - Shannen Doherty is good in it, but not great. Also, it probably has the worst acting.


JAW BREAKER

Here we go. Jawbreaker is absolutely one of my favourite movies of all time, and it is mostly because of Rose McGowan. Rose is EVERYTHING in this movie, and the role really plays to her strengths as an actress. She is bitchy, evil, hilarious, controlling, and powerful. She is the leader of the group, and I think she is the only truly evil person in the movie - although she is very smart. This is also the best main cast of all 3 of the movies; Rose McGowan, Judy Greer, Rebecca Gayhart and Julie Benz are all amazing actresses. Overall, the plot of this movie is great, and Roses' long winded rants as Courtney are hilarious and amazing. I think she is one of the best and baddest villains of all time!

MEAN GIRLS

Mean Girls was the movie that came out during my generation, so it holds a special place in my heart. It is also one of my favourite movies, and is the most accurate portrayal of how cruel girls can be in High School. Unlike the other two movies, nothing really dark happens (in the former two movies, people are killed) and it is exclusively about the girl on girl drama. The acting in this movie is also great, but it is in large due to the AMAZING ensemble of people. The one liners are great, and shout outs go to Tina Fey, Amy Poehler, Rachel McAdams, Lacy Schubert, Amanda Seyfried and the girl who plays Janice Ian (I forget her name at the moment). Lindsay Lohan is ok also, haha. Probably love Jawbreaker and Mean Girls equally!

I've never seen Heathers, but saw Jawbreaker and I just thought it was okay. I do remember enjoying Rose in it. Playing bad and evil roles suit her. That's why when I first saw her in Charmed I was surprised she was so meek and shy-like. I think the only role I absolutely loved Rose in was Cora on the Once Upon a Time series. 

As for Mean Girls, I fell in love with it   The acting not to mention the chemistry between the actors was just perfect. And the one-liners and comedy, etc.

Since it's about mean girls in high school, shouldn't Carrie also be on the list?

I own Jawbreaker and Mean girls both fab movies. I love the clothes from both jawbreaker's and mean girls so stylish and beautiful. Imagine Rose saying some of the lines she says from Jawbreakers in Charmed that would be funny!!!!!! The lines where she swears. Imagine after Rose says something like from Jawbreakers swearing Piper's reaction. Run your mind over jawbreaker where Rose says something being peachy. Rose is so good as a mean girl she is so classic and frightening you may not want to get on the wrong side of Rose. Courtney Shane cool name. Some names in movies and TV shows are so cool. I even love the name Piper from Charmed. Heather's I don't own I saw that on youtube and I found that movie kind of strange. Where as the other two movie's Jawbreaker's and Mean girls were generally enjoyable movies.

I just read this article. It's an interview with the Heathers' cast and crew (including Shannen). If you've seen the film, it's quite a good read. Although, it does seem like Shannen was not particularly liked on the set...
