I started thinking today about how everyone would love to see a Charmed movie, but it seems less than likely to happen. The same seemed true of a "Veronica Mars" movie, until the fans did something about it. For those who don't know, Veronica Mars was a popular (and great) TV show that got cancelled at the last second after it's third season, and the season finale was an absolutely horrible way to end a show. It ended just like any other season of a show ended, and it was in no way a series finale. Fans were upset, so the writer of the show decided to write a Veronica Mars movie script, and approached networks to fund the project to no success - the networks were not interested in the movie. THEN the fans decided to do something about it. They started a kickstarted campaign to raise the money to get the movie made/produced, and raised over 2 million dollars within the first couple days. To date they have raised over 5 million, and the movie is set to be out 2014. I know Charmed has a lot of fans - do you think this would be possible? There are many differences in the situation though: 1. Charmed had an official season finale (whether you liked the episode or not), and VM did not. 2. VM head writer had a script for the movie written, and as it stands now no script has been written for a Charmed movie (at least not by anyone of note) 3. It was pretty fresh after VM had ended that this whole thing started up.. Just a thought. All big things start with a seed planted, right?

I'd much rather watch my DVDs than have a movie. Plus, because of the finale, it was tied in a "nice" bowtie and everything, so what would the movie even be about? We get the Sisters' future. I don't want a movie about their children. I don't care about their children. They had a chance with the Charmed Sons and time passed, and I think it's over.
Veronica Mars got jipped by the WB/CBS merger into CW. There was no ending. The first time I watched the finale (was a few years after the show was over), I did not even realized I had just watched the last episode. It got no closure and there's a lot that can still be done and fans want it. Rob wanted it. KBell & Co wanted it.
I don't think that's the same for Charmed.

One thing to keep in mind is that the fans did not decide to do something about it and the fans did not start a kickstarter campaign to raise money to make a movie. The show's creator and some of the show's stars did. They had more than just fans passionate about their show, and we are passionate (take that to mean fans of Veronica Mars or of Charmed . . . I'm a fan of both shows). They had a creative team that eight years after the show was cancelled was still passionate about the show. I heard about the Veronica Mars kickstarter about thirteen hours after it started, some two hundred thousand dollars after the kickstater had already raised enough to fund their two million dollar funding goal.
I have this theory based off various things that were said that the WB got sick and tired of the cast and crew of Veronica Mars bugging them about a movie and told them that they could have a movie if they could raise a minimum of two million dollars and if they didn't that was it and they had better stop bugging them. Boy did the fans raise to the occasion though, raising the first two million in eleven and a half hours.
Based off that, we would need the people behind Charmed to campaign for a movie and get the WB to okay even a kickstarter. Recently both Alyssa Milano and Shannen Doherty have said they would do a movie. I think Holly Marie Combs has said it in the past. I'm pretty sure Rose McGowan said not a chance. I'm not sure how you do a movie with one of the sisters who was around at the end of the show not there and one of the ones who wasn't back in, unless it's based off the Morality Bites Universe or some sort of dream sequence of what might have been. And if they did that, especially the Morality Bites Universe, I would watch it and if it was on kickstarter I would pledge for it. I'm just not sure how that would come about, because while the actresses (at least some of them) have said they would do a movie, I don't get the idea that any of them are actively trying to convince the studio that Charmed needs one.

I agree with everything said here. I think it is still too soon for a movie, and I think Rose would eventually come around to the idea after time passed.
As for the ending of Charmed, Sex and the City had a really "perfect" ending too, but the first movie was amazing!

If Shannen wanted to be part of it while Rose didn't, the solution is relatively easy. Go back to Old Piper reading to her granddaughter, then let it all go blurry and have Piper wake up to find out that since the attack by Shax at the end of Season Three, she's been in a coma. a coma the Elder wouldn't let Leo heal, and all of Seasons 4-8 were just her delusion. She wakes up to find that she's been in that coma for 10 years and that both Prue and Phoebe are very much alive and, well, you decide from there. Now THERE's the movie I'd want to see! No Paige who is more whitelighter than Charmed. No Cole the whimpy non-magical. No Cole the Source. No Phoebe the Queen of the Underworld. No crazy Cole. No Twice Blessed Brat. No True Big Bad from the Future who teaches the sisters that ends justify the means rather than the wrong thing done for the right reason is still the wrong thing. No Elder-gone-mad. No Avatars thinking that the best way to balance Good and Evil is to take away everyone's free will. No mixing the Hollow or the Nexus with the Shadow. No all-of-Phoebe's slampieces and no baby search and no Elders-rewarding-her-because-they-feel-bad-that-they-screwed-up-her-lovelife. No Leo the Elder, Leo the Avatar, Leo the whimpy non-magical. No Elders being more demonic than the demons. No Billie and Christy. No knowing the names of all of the male kids but none of the female kids. No three kids for each sister. No sappily ever after for Piper but no idea what happened to the other sisters. No ex-whiteligher-so-non-magical Leo being happy to be teaching magical kids who could walk all over him. What has actually happened in the past 10 years? I'll let someone with a better imagination than me figure it out. And as long as all of those "no's" are still "no's" at the end of the movie, that's definitely a movie I would like to see, maybe even a spin-off that I'd like to see.... And all of those "no's" is the reason why I think any other movie or spin-off couldn't fix all of the problems, and why just rebooting, starting all over, is better than a movie.

I would love that Esmeralda it would almost be like "Brain Drain" the comics could be used to re-tell the story of how everything actually went down! If only this would happen, well the better solution would be a better written Charmed.
