I just wish Shannen could have behaved more maturely about the whole scenario and thought more about Prue's fans than her own ego. Would it really have killed her to even just come back for ONE episode before the show finished?
I love Prue so much. When I was younger her and Piper were my joint favourite, and I'd probably still say the same now, I'll always have a special place in my heart for the character that is Prue.
She was sweet, selfless, hardworking, kind, funny, devoted, sassy, empathetic and so much more. The perfect 'big sister'.
When I think about the storyline it breaks my heart. As a young child she watched her mother's dead body be pulled from the lake, was abandoned by her father, then practically spent the rest of her childhood helping to raise her younger sisters.
THEN she finds out she's a witch that's destined to save the world from evil, and is seemingly considered the strongest of the three, still putting Piper and Phoebe first. THEN she watches her high school sweetheart die. Oh and THEN, if that's not enough, she's the one that gets killed at the age of 31. That character deserved a happy ending. She even had a fear of dying young, and it happened. She never got to settle down into marriage or have kids, or blossom with her career that was going so well for her as she was so talented.
And then to top it all off, her sisters seemed to more or less just forget about her and move on with their 'new sister' after season 4. She's mentioned like once in each season, fleetingly. I get that shannen wouldnt let them use her image (actually I don't get that, I don't get it at all, but you know what I mean) but it just wasn't really true to life. If that scenario had taken place in real life, three sisters who were so close then the oldest one dies, the others wouldn't just forget about her. They'd be honoured on their birthdays, and everyone would be upset on the anniversary of their death, maybe do something special in their memory, but that's never shown with Prue.
Kern was unable to use pictures of her but there was nothing stopping him from having the sisters mention her more, even if it was just a meal on her birthday or some expression of grief on her anniversary.
it makes me feel really bitter.
