Hehehehehehehehe, it all came out fine for me! But then English is my first language and my favorite teacher was my English teacher, so I learned it well.
A long time ago, one of my favorite Charmed fanfic writers, Scififantasychic, shared this:
Just like her, I hate spellcheck and I hate "Hookt on Fonix" - like Twitter and texting, it's killing the English language.

On a different site, I shared some more of Scifi's wonderful advice, what she called sharing her two cents worth, but I think it's worth a whole lot more. I've used a lot of Scfi's advice since I first read it, and I do think it has made me a much-better writer. I've decided to copy over my own responses to Scifi's advice since I still feel pretty much the same way as I did then, although typical Es, I can't help but tweak it a bit. Feel free to respond to anything that either of us said, or if you want to add your own advice, feel free - it can't help but help all of us who love Charmed fanfics - the only good thing that came out of all of Brad Kern's screwups. Here's what I replied after Scifi posted her bit on "Character Consistency": Here's what I thought of Scifi's "Grammatical Downfalls": And that's when Scifi added the Spell Czech poem. Here's what I wrote after Scifi posted "The Give and Take of Criticism": Here's what I posted after Scifi posted "On Inspiration": Okay, Cafe members, your turn! What did you think of what Scifi and I had to say??

First, about the poem: it was fine at first, but I struggled a bit at the end because of how long it was and the amount of intimidating words that you only use in literature...
Secondly, Scifi's advice: it's great advice! There's a lot of common sense there, a lot of things that any writer should keep in mind. I agree wholeheartedly about character inconsistency, criticism, and always reading. In fiction there are rules that should be followed, things should happen that make sense (not like in real life where people can do the craziest things imaginable, things you could never ever in a million years imagine them doing in the first place). Criticism is essential to grow and improve as a writer. And reading... well why would anyone be a writer in the first place if they didn't like to read?

I agree with Scifi's advice also. It's good for budding writers to help improve themselves. May go hack to it myself sometime when writing my own fanfiction.

I have the same problem like cyma. English would be second foreign language, Russian was my first one. Now though it feels like a second skin. lol

I haven't read the poem yet as seems too long and will probably do my head in trying to pronounce it.

I haven't watched Titan A.E since....the first time it came out. But I think a good example of a good guy to bad guy is Ward in the TV show Agents of Shield. And example of how not to transition your good character to bad is what happened to Katrina's character in Sleepy Hollow. Her transformation from a good witch to bad witch just felt 'meh'.
