Very professional to take on the identity of a character already knowing that you want to leave!
I'm not surprised that she doesn't work that much, a real actor tries to give the best even when there is no love for the character who personifies

Rose has always been a film actor, first and foremost, and she shines well there. She put in great performances in Scream, Jawbreaker, and Planet Terror, all better than most of her acting in Charmed. She's even said herself that she's more comfortable with the quicker filming schedule of movies and that long-term projects like TV shows wear her out. Of course, nowadays, she's not working as much, but that's not because she's a bad actor. It's because she's now in her 40s and looks it, and in the land of Hollywood, that makes her a shriveled up old maid. Thus, she's started to move behind the camera and take up directing, where her looks no longer matter.

Luckily, my job isn't to follow the careers of the actors, but I'm free to think that if you start to play a character is not professional to decide in advance that your interpretation is timed
B movie are not my passion so I don't know the movies you mentioned

I selected Period 5: between "The Honeymoon's Over" and "Sleuthing With the Enemy".

B movie are not my passion so I don't know the movies you mentioned I'd hardly call Scream, Jawbreaker, and Planet Terror "B movies." Scream and Jawbreaker are both late 90s classics, for Pete's sake!

In the late 90s I was ten I found Jawbreaker and Planet Terror on the dictionary of the cinema, they are marked as B movie I pretty like some Wes Craven's movies as A Nightmare on Elm Street - only the first- and The Hills Have Eyes, i'm not very fond of teenager-horror movie si I never watched Scream It has been successful but it seems to me an exaggeration to call it a classic

It has been successful but it seems to me an exaggeration to call it a classic Scream and Jawbreaker are widely considered to be cult classics. The former kickstarted a new era of teen slasher flicks, while the latter was the Heathers/Mean Girls of the 90s, one of those movies that people frequently quote. That's far more than I can say for the film resumés of the other three leads. Shannen did well with Heathers and Mallrats, but ever since she got fired from Charmed, it's been nothing but Lifetime/SyFy-grade crap. As for Alyssa, it was softcore porn trash before Charmed, and Lifetime trash after Charmed. Holly's never had a notable role outside of Charmed.

I think we should stop comparing our wonderful ladies, they each did a great job. I for one understand Rose's feeling about this, imagine being in a soul crushing job where you had to pretend every day that you were actually enjoying what you were doing? I couldn't have done it that's for sure. Months and months filming something I didn't want to be a part of but had to in order to keep a steady wage and bound by contract. If she'd tried to leave they could have sued her to high heaven.

I don't watch TV movies and rarely horror, I know nothing about the career of the Charmed actresses nor I am curious about them, before I signed up in the Cafè I barely remember their names! I take an interest only in Charmed, so I'ld like to talk of Phobe, not of the Alyssa Milano or Rose McGowan 's career

A quote I like, i's a different Phoebe from the joyful girl of the first two years, it's a Phoebe who is facing her almost certain death with irony
[Piper and Phoebe are trying to find a spell to use against Zankou] Phoebe Halliwell: How about a love spell? We could make him fall for one of us. Piper Halliwell: [scoffs] Sorry, I'm taken. Phoebe Halliwell: Yeah, well I'm not. Piper Halliwell: But you're not that desperate. [pause] Piper Halliwell: Are you? Phoebe Halliwell: Hmm, those demons do have a way of keeping you warm at night. Piper Halliwell: Yeah, but that's only because they have fireballs.

If she'd tried to leave they could have sued her to high heaven. Based on what she's said, Rose was pretty much tricked into signing a 5 year contract for the show. She told them up front that she only wanted to do 1-2 years, max, and yet, she ended up getting chained to the show for half a decade. And, you wonder why her enthusiasm for the show started to decline in the last few seasons.

Sadly true, so typical of Kern and the WB's perspective - women are either to be sex objects or housewives. Unfortunately very, very true. Honestly, in Season 9, Phoebe's and Coop's relationship is my favorite of the three, totally opposite of S8 (and S10). they did improve I'm season 9. And I was pleased with Cole. It was a good story and way better than anything the last seasons did. I'd have voted season 9 among my periods if it was a real season.

For me the first 5 periods, however I actually did enjoy Phoebe in late season 7 so Period 16. Went with periods 1, 2, 3, 5 and 16.

I can't really answer this one, probably because despite all what happened and the constant critics she got, she'll always be my favorite witch. I went thru a lot of ups and downs with her storyline and personality, therefore every Phoebe period has postive and negative things, choosing one or several isn't an option, I mean not to me.

I agree, life is full of positive and negative phases and in some dark moments we can become very different
Phoebe'ld not be an enthusiastic girl forever, after losing her sister, her first love, her kid, her self-respect, if she was always the Phoebe of the first seasons, rather than an enthusiastic girl she'ld have looked like a greenhead
